“So how does it go again?”
The little girl looks up at him like he was from another shard.
“You’re telling me you missed the previous years’ Moonfaire?”
Hawu stares up at the towering wooden death challenge, poles and planks sticking out in various fashions to inspire them to traverse it, with wavering pupils.
“Yeah, I’ve been kind of… busy.”
“Well, you have to climb up the platform pieces on your own — that means no magic, no mount riding, just your own physical strength!”
They were on a raised platform in the middle of the Costa del Sol sea, and he swallows the lump in his throat as he looks around the crystal clear water lapping at the wood beneath them.
There are people around them, jumping under the Moonfaire sun and trying desperately to scale the mountainous structure.
So, obviously he tries to cheat, right?
He stretches his limbs out, taking the time to explore each route by scanning it with his eyes, and then stamps his foot twice.
A high jump is classic for his dragoon sensibilities, and he steps back into it, before leaping up and onto the middle platform.
“Hey!”
He almost knocks an angry miqo’te off of the platform they now share, and in the process of leaning back to give him space…
He promptly falls into the water, spluttering.
