Chapter 1: Tears of a Warrior

Chapter Text

Guilt. What a simple word to describe the agony that emotion entails. It was all encompassing. A horrid slurry made of anger, sadness and a nasty taste of bile and shame.

And it is all Technoblade feels as of late. All because of the awful reveal on Doomsday. It's been months since then and he still can’t shake the feeling.

Growing up, he remembers his brother always raving on and on about how wanted to be just like Techno when he grew up. He wanted to fight and be tall with colored hair, all strong like a piglin. It warmed Techno's heart each time and settled the brunt of his instincts when around his runt.

They had their moments together when Tommy, despite being human( human. Nothing else), would cuddle and sit through techno draping him in gold and all the little chuffs and snorts Techno would spew.

Which is why when techno saw his brother twisted into what he saw at doomsday, he was enraged. Enraged that dream, his biggest rival, contorted his runt into that.

And most of all he blames himself, because he could have done more in exile for tommy He could have paid more attention, visited more, not just show up and taunt him. Techno has no idea how he showed up to exile and not notice the signs of… something.

Looking back, he can remember being blinded by rage. Betrayal. He was angry with how Wilbur and the rest of L’Manburg betrayed him and in that rage he was mourning. Mourning Wilbur and he took it out on Tommy in the form of ignorance.

He shouldn't have left him alone with Dream.

Dream. That son of a bitch. Techno was going to rip every one of those pathetic spider limbs off his back for what he did to Tommy.

Techno had heard of spider hybrids growing up.

During his little time in the Nether as a child, his old sonder would tell stories of man-like beasts that would snatch up little piglets and change them. Make them a monster and tear them from families.

He never quite fell for the myths, chalking them up to be old hogs tales. But he was wrong.

So very wrong, that he didn't look harder when Dream's gaze turned from an awkward eye contact, to staring at him like he was just a piece of meat.

And to make matters worse, Tommy had that same look in his eyes. In all four of them now.

When Techno saw the blonde rip and tear through the crowd, literally eating what Techno believed were his former comrades,

He couldn't believe it.

He refused to make the connection to the sweet boy who would braid flowers into his hair and always kept a piece of gold on him "just in case you need some, Techno!" Had become… this.

Technoblade had no clue what happened between Tommy and Dream and just how this fucked process works, but by the gods is Techno going to find a way to reverse it.

Techno can’t bear to see that carnage again. He knows he sounds like a hypocrite. Someone so drenched in blood and a past and present filled with gore beyond comprehension. But he can’t help it.

He can’t help the way his knees get weak and his stomach turns at the image of Tommy. Because this is Tommy Prime sake. Tommy was a child soldier, traumatized and mistreated to hell and back but he wasn’t a monster. He wasn’t some bloodthirsty hound ready to pounce for flesh at the first sight.

And that is what he has been tirelessly searching for. A solution. A way to bring back the boy Techno never helped. The boy he was too late for. The boy he failed.

This was going to work. Both him and Phil had prepared the ingredients, the books, the rituals, and all the other bullshit magic they need to bring their boy back.

(And oh Phil. The man had been nearly catatonic on their way home from the ruins of L'manburg that night. So petrified to see one of his last sons gone in a way different and possibly worse than his last. At least Wilbur left for good and hopefully got some sort of peace. Hopefully.)

Don’t even get him started on what to do with Dream once he finds him. The man is a monster. A monster Techno is both familiar and in the dark with.

They had been close allies for a while. Staying as friendly rivals even before Techno arrived in Dream’s lands. And even to a point at Doomsday, Techno was ready to battle alongside the masked man. But then it all happened…

Techno has no clue what sick and twisted relation Dream and Tommy have. Whatever it is Techno hates it. He hates being in the dark about it all and not knowing what Dream wants Tommy for.

He ignores what he has been researching. He ignores all the relics that explain the bond Tommy and Dream most likely have. That Tommy is the equivalent of a piglin runt to Dream. A spiderling.

And it makes him sick to his stomach when he remembers that Dream called the blonde that at Doomsday. All fond. But not for long.

Him and {Phil are going to do everything they can to make Tommy normal again. To fix him and make Dream suffer for all this pain.

All they need is to actually find Tommy. That was proving to be the more difficult half of the plan. Due to Dream being a spider hybrid, (not Tommy, he isn't, he just isn't.) he would most likely have his base somewhere underground and away from civilization.

So that gives them very little to work with when it comes to directions. But if they work hard enough they can do it.

Even if Dream nor Tommy have been spotted since Doomsday, or the fact that their chances of them finding the pair before the spiders find them is slim.

Until…

Beep beep

Techno shoots up from his desk.

Hm.

He must have fallen asleep. He looks up only to be met with the little results of his labor.

No signs of Dream, not a single lead marked on the map in front of him. For all he knows Dream could be even further out than any map drawn.

He tiredly fixes his glasses and brushes a hand through his greasy, tangled, pink hair. He has neglected himself because of his tunnel vision as of late. He should fix that.

Maybe.

He turns his head to his communicator and picks it up to see what the message is. He doesn't have much of an idea. Not many people have his contact outside of the Syndicate.

Which is why he is startled so much when he sees the user of a name he didn't think he'd ever see talk to him again.

Wilbur 2:30 a.m. : Techno, it's nice to be back.

Wilbur 2:30 a.m. : I need your help. It's about Tommy.

Technblade drops his communicator.

Crack!
