Story 1
Doctor Meets the Reaper
Act 1
A Rude Awakening
In a small farm village where the sun just peeks over the hills and the people were just starting their day, a young elven woman was walking through a forest, as she walked the footpath, she felt the morning breeze caress her face, soft chirping wafting through her ears from a distance. She stopped just for a moment to take in the scenery, in this moment of peace the woman thought to herself, Oh how I would love to spend my day out here but if I did, that dumbass Cedar would never get out of bed. She sort of grumbled to herself and continued down the path after a little while the footpath began to widen and the forest became less and less dense as she came up to a clearing.
The woman glanced past the short neat grass up a hill where she spotted a clinic. It wasn’t quite big and could easily be mistaken for a cottage but this was it. As she walked up the stones that lead up to the building she took note of the handmade sign on the door Pendragon’s Clinic is now closed! It read. The woman let out a loud sigh as she opened the door, the clinic’s first floor was a mess with medicines and dried herbs hanging and set on shelves with books all over the place. Her eyes shifted to the curtains covering the stairs to the second floor. With a grumble she walked upstairs as she made her way to Cedar’s bed walking past a desk covered in empty inkwells and different books on medicine.
She took a deep breath and yelled “Cedar Demetrius Pendragon, GET THE HELL OUT OF BED!! The covers shifted as a small voice came from under the covers, “Noooooo just gimme five more minutes…” the voice whined. The woman pinched the bridge of her nose with an annoyed sigh “Cedar we have a lot of work to do today and we don’t have time for this! Get your lazy good for nothing ass out of bed before I make you!” She demanded as she stepped forward, suddenly ripping the blanket off of Cedar.
As the blanket was ripped away, an elven man not much older than the woman glared back at her, long rusty copper hair a fluffy mess. His warm emerald green eyes closed as the elf sat up with a sigh rubbing his temples, “Ruby if you don’t want to do this every morning, why do you keep doing it?” He asked with slight annoyance as he looked at her with a tired expression and bags so deep you could carry groceries with them. Ruby then replies “Because you're one of the only doctors in the village. And if it weren’t for me getting your lazy ass up your family's clinic would crash and burn. “Yes, yes! I get it Ruby! Gods…” Cedar snapped, rubbing his temples. Ruby gave a smirk of satisfaction “Then I’ll see you downstairs in fifteen minutes.” She said with a satisfied tone before leaving to the first floor. Watching the elven woman leave, Cedar rolled out of bed and walked over to the large window looking out to the forest and village below as eyes glared over the scenery many would arguably call beautiful he sighed and turned to the door. “Time to start another boring day.”
