"Shou?"

Everything was warm and soft, too comfortable to move or even stir a finger.

"Shou? You’re awake?"

It was too comfortable to even open his eyes. He wanted to respond to the quiet voice, carefully asking for him somewhere above his head, but all he managed was a deep hum.

Something heavy and delicate touched his hair, and when Shouyou realised that it was Tobio’s hand, he smiled and pushed his nose against his husband’s chest, brushing against him through the fabric.

At some point after dinner, they had lain down on the couch, Tobio with his magazine, and Shouyou had soon squeezed himself between his arms, where he had been hugged ever since.

"I didn’t wake you?"

"Mh?"

"Did I wake you?"

Shouyou shook his head. "Didn’t sleep, just… dozing off I guess."

"Oh. I see."

A pause followed. Shouyou smiled since he could imagine what face his husband was making right now.

The hand remained in his hair for a while longer, then it was gone and Shouyou heard the telltale sound of glossy magazine pages flipping over before long fingers buried themselves in his hair again and fingernails grazed his scalp.

The sound of turning the pages was faint to Shouyou, but he felt a soft breeze of ink and paper as Tobio held the magazine with one hand somewhere near his head where he could read it.

"Shouyou?"

"Mhm."

Tobio hesitated. "Are you okay to talk or do you want to doze some more?"

"’m fine, can talk," Shouyou mumbled.

"We had a long day. Well, you had a long day, given that you came with the Shinkansen."

"’s’ is not so long, jus’ three hours," Shouyou replied and exhaled a soft sigh while crumpling the back of Tobio’s t-shirt.

"But you got up early and travelling is always a little bit… nerve-wracking."

"I’m fine with getting up early, and I don’t mind travelling. Unlike you."

"Oi." Tobio nudged his head with the soft side of the folded magazine. "I’m not that much against it, we just travel a lot and I…"

He didn’t continue.

Shouyou waited, but when no more words came, he tilted his head backwards, blinked and looked at his husband.

"And… you?" he asked.

Tobio studied him. His eyes were shimmering in the late light of the setting sun, his hair seemed darker that way. Shouyou wanted to reach up and touch it, but it was too far away to reach and he was too comfortable to move.

"I… I like being home," Tobio filled in quietly. He looked a little shy, a good look on him, and this was no look Shouyou wanted to share with others.

"Oh," Shouyou said, realising what his husband had said.

"With you," Tobio added now, "just to be clear about that. I mean, of course I would rather prefer this flat without you than a hotel room without you, but a hotel room with you is better than this flat without you."

Shouyou blinked a couple of times and even Tobio frowned in confusion.

"Did that… make sense?" he asked, blushing a little.

Shouyou nodded. "Yeah, I guess. I mean… I suppose it does." He thought about it, but soon gave up. "Why do you say such complicated things in the evening?"

He chuckled. Shouyou loved that sound. It was one of his favourites. "You’re just a little sleepy, Shou, that’s all."

"You’re not."

"It’s not even 9 yet."

"Mhm, is that so?"

"It is," Tobio whispered, there was a smile in his voice. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Shouyou’s forehead, a gesture Shouyou replied with a deep content hum.

For a moment each of them returned to their previous activity, Tobio reading and Shouyou in the bliss he found between his husband’s arms while doing nothing, soaking up the body warmth and inhaling Tobio’s scent.

"Do you want to go out tomorrow?" Tobio asked then.

"Hm… Like where?"

A shrug, ever so slightly given their position. "To the supermarket? Family Mart? The bookstore? Where would you like to go?"

"Hm." Shouyou hummed and thought about it. "Supermarket sounds good," he said then. Tobio hummed his acknowledgment. "Bookstore… you already have your magazine, right? So we"

"Yeah."

"don’t need any more for our ero collection."

"We don’t. Wait, what?"

Shouyou snickered and looked up to see his husband’s flustered face. "Admit it," Shouyou said, smirking. "You keep every article that's about me and bring them out when I'm gone. Well, and there are other things you get out too, y’know? I’m sure of it."

"Of course I do, I Stop laughing!"

Shouyou couldn’t hold it in any longer, he grinned widely and muffled his sounds in his husband’s chest. When he calmed down, he shrugged and glanced up at Tobio, who was furiously blushing.

"I do that too, you know?"

"Shouyou, really now? I know that already. You tell me every time when you… did that."

Shouyou studied his husband for a while. "Does it make you uncomfortable?"

"Huh? Why?"

"Because you know that I may use your picture to get off to. Not every time of course, just… sometimes."

Tobio looked at him for a few seconds. "I… No, not really. I’m kind of flattered that you’re doing this and it also means that the photographer did a good job, right?"

Shouyou stared at him, then he snickered. "Yeah, I guess."

Confusion clouded Tobio’s face, but he didn’t ask. His eyes drifted back to the magazine, but he wasn’t reading again as his eyes fixed one spot.

"You know," Shouyou added, watching his husband, "you don’t know whether I tell you about every adventure I had with these magazines."

It took a few heartbeats for Tobio to realise what he meant, then he stared down at him and opened his mouth, but no word came out. When sound finally emerged, his voice was a little raspy.

"You… But…"

"Don’t worry, Tobio, I really tell you about every time." Shouyou patted his husband’s back before brushing his thumb into his side. He smiled, he had meant his words after all.

"Oh." Tobio swallowed and nodded. "Okay. Thanks?"

They both chuckled this time.

"So only the supermarket?"

Shouyou hummed. "Yeah, sounds good. Then we can go back home and cook and eat and… do something together."

"Sounds good."

"Mhm."

"We basically have no real plan though."

Shouyou shrugged. "We’ll make one."

"Mhm, fine by me I guess."

Closing his eyes again, Shouyou brushed the tip of his nose between Tobio’s pecs and shifted so that his leg slid between his thighs. He pressed himself against his husband, hugging him close while clutching to his t-shirt with his hand. When his forehead nudged Tobio’s chin, he angled his head a little and then his nose touched something hard beneath the t-shirt.

Shouyou blinked his eyes open and used his other hand to finger the round shape that was visible behind the fabric. For a moment he played with it, took it between his fingers, turned it around, moved it so that the thin chain the ring was attached to jingled very softly.

With careful moves, Shouyou pushed the ring upwards until it peeked out from the collar. He took it in his hands and studied the familiar form and colour with a dazed look. His own ring was around his neck as well, but buried underneath his own clothes.

He glanced up at his husband, who flipped another page and continued to read the current article, and smiled to himself as he read the inscription and grazed his fingertips over the engraving.

"Tickles," Tobio murmured above him.

"Mhm." Shouyou put the ring once more under the t-shirt, then he craned his neck and kissed Tobio’s chin before tucking himself back under it. "That good?" he asked quietly.

"Mhm, this is the best."

Shouyou chuckled and closed his eyes again.
