Work Text:
Seoham was idling on the couch, waiting for Jaechan and listening to the sound of the rain hitting against the window pane when his mobile phone rang. His eyes lit up when he saw who the call was from.
“Jaechannie, are you nearby?”
“Seoham hyung, come to the window.”
“Window?”
Seoham lifted his long legs off the couch, and strode over to the window. He pulled at the white cord attached to the blinds, folding them up.
“Can you see me?”
The rivulets of rain on the window blurred his view of the world, scanning along the street he spotted a figure in grey waving at him. He frowned.
“Jaechan, what are you doing in the rain? You should hurry over.”
“Hyung… there’s something I want to show you, but you need to come down.”
“You should come up first, you’re going to catch a cold!”
“The rain isn’t cold, I’ll be waiting for you, bye!”
The line was cut off, but the figure across the street gave him a big wave.
Seoham should be used to Jaechan’s impetuousness by now, but somehow the boy still had the capacity to surprise him. He hurriedly put on his shoes and grabbed his black umbrella before heading out.
In the few minutes that it had taken Seoham to get to street level the rain had turned heavy, it was pouring down in sheets, continuously thudding against his umbrella. To his relief, it seemed like Jaechan was standing under the cover of a building ledge, but as soon as Jaechan saw him, the boy stepped forward into the rain.
“What are you doing?” Seoham blurted out loud, even though Jaechan was too far away to hear him.
Pressing the button at the crossing impatiently, he hurried over as soon as the signal turned green, not caring if he was splashing in the puddles. As soon as he reached Jaechan, he stretched his arm out to cover Jaechan’s head with the umbrella, not caring if he himself got wet.
“Jaechan,” he said, worried.
“Hyung.” Jaechan gave him an impish grin before taking the umbrella from Seoham’s hand.
“What is it? Are you okay?”
“There’s just something that I’ve always wanted to try.” As he said that he tipped the umbrella down and dropped it onto the ground.
Seoham had a tiny inkling of what this was about, but just as Jaechan moved forward towards him, a sudden gust sent the umbrella flying.
They both turned to look at it.
“Oh, sh-”
Seoham reacted first, he started running towards it as it bounced along the street, he almost grasped it once, but the wind was faster than him and whipped it out of reach, and so the chase continued. Just as he was worried about it going out into the road, the wind shifted and the poor umbrella was dumped into the row of raised flower beds. Seoham grabbed it immediately, and pulled it out, soil clinging to the tip. He folded it up and bent down at a 45 degree angle, hands on his knees, lungs on fire.
He could hear the sound of shoes hitting the wet pavement, coming closer towards him, he turned to look as Jaechan grabbed hold of his arm desperately.
“Hyung, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that, really I didn’t!”
Jaechan looked aghast, his clothes completely soaked, hair plastered to his forehead. Seoham straightened up and lifted his free hand to Jaechan's face, brushing a thumb against the wet forehead and over his cheek in a futile attempt to wipe away the water. Futile because they were still in the rain.
“You,” Seoham said, looking stern.
Jaechan gazed up at him with his wide eyes, his lips almost quivering, rain running down the angles of his face, a youthful face still slightly soft at the cheeks. He was cold to the touch.
“You little devil.”
He shifted his hand to cradle the back of Jaechan’s head and pulled him into a kiss. Jaechan’s lips were cold but soft, the water causing skin to slide against skin. He flicked his tongue out and ran it over those full lips, tasting the rain. Jaechan’s body stiffened at first, but then he relaxed and wrapped his arms around Seoham, hugging him tightly. His hands bunching up the wet t-shirt that was clinging to Seoham’s body, melting into the kiss, his body slowly warming up.
Jaechan sighed when they broke from the kiss. Seoham pressed his lips to Jaechan’s forehead and then placed his mouth next to Jaechan’s ear.
“There, are you satisfied now?”
He pulled back to observe Jaechan’s reaction. The younger man bit down on his lower lip to stop a smile from spreading and shyly nodded his head, but then he paused for a moment and started shaking his head vigorously, sending droplets of water flying from his hair. He looked up at Seoham expectantly.
Seoham took a deep breath and sighed.
“What am I going to do with you?” he asked, despite knowing full well what he was going to do.
He opened up the umbrella, pulling it down over the both of them as he closed the gap between their lips once more...
-The End-
