It’s a nice night, the early days of autumn bringing with them clear skies and weather more on the cold than hot, but still no close to freezing temperatures.
Above the stars are clear to see and the moon shines brightly alongside them, few clouds float in the sky and the view is unblocked.
Occasionally some cool and weak breeze will pass by, rustling gently the leaves of the trees that adorn the side of the walkways.
It a nice night, and the laughter and cheers that can be heard go well alongside it.
Tonight is a night to celebrate out, just as they are doing right now, the clinking of glasses hitting against each other sounds and next is another toast being made to celebrate and hope for good things.
Sitting in front of her Lumine sees Thoma barely keeping himself awake, his lack of tolerance against alcohol finally hitting him, sitting at both his sides, surrounding him both Kamisato siblings already have an eye out for him.
Closely following Thoma in giving up to the alcohol consumed is Yoimiya, sitting beside Ayaka she sometimes will slump against the younger Kamisato, and then the next moment she’s moving all over her chair, raising whatever drink she has in hand and cheering and laughing.
And every moment that Yoimiya cheers, sitting at Lumine’s right Itto is quick to answer in a loud and boisterous way, both of their laughs and shouts strongly running all over the terrace the group is sitting at, and Lumine knows that the only motive that they haven’t been kicked out yet is the fact that the owner of the restaurant is a good friend of the Kamisatos sibling’s parents.
Still, Lumine doesn’t want to find the limit of the owner’s and staff’s patience and does her best to try and calm down her overexcited companions.
Yoimiya is the easy one, some words from Ayaka, and the next second the blond girl is once again on the verge of falling asleep. Itto is the one that requires more work, and to Lumine’s voice Shinobu’s reprimands also add themselves. The man fake cries and whines a little but he calms himself at the end, and their conversation and eating continue.
It goes like this for a time, slowly the place is starting to get emptier and emptier and Lumine knows that they will also leave soon, Thoma is already out, Yoimiya on the brink of sleeping, and Ayaka and Shinobu have started to doze off, right now the conversation is nothing more than Ayato, (one of the designated drivers, so he only had few drinks,) leading it, and Itto (the alcohol has already hitted him, but it only gives him more energy,) answering, occasionally she’ll answer but otherwise, she mostly remain out of the conversation, only listening.
She’s already tired, she didn’t drink (never does, she can’t stand the taste of alcohol), but work all this week has been exhausting, and as the other designated driver she’ll be the one helping Ayato lead a bunch of drunk young adults into the cars.
It’s late already, and as Itto’s words start to come out more incoherent as the minutes pass, she just has to meet Ayato’s eyes, and the message that passes between them it’s clear, time to go. Calling out for a server Ayato asks for the bill, and Lumine begins picking up all of their things.
And is just then that disaster hits.
Itto is barely coherent, talking nonsense and to none one in particular, all over the table some of their plates still have some leftovers, Itto picking some from whichever plate he wants, Ayato is busy paying, and Lumine is making sure that nothing is forgotten on chairs or the table or anywhere else.
So none of them are paying attention to the moment in which Itto puts his sight over the leftovers of Yoimiya’s food, and are just barely aware of the moment in which Itto eats them.
“Oh, woaaaah, the food is angry, angry.” Lumine is trying to get Shinobu to stand, and Ayato is waking up Thoma, both of them glance at each other and share a laugh at Itto’s words.
“Angry, like mmmm… like bees!”
Oh fuck Lumine thinks, and she turns to look at whatever Itto was eating.
“Fuck.” Ayato says when he realizes that Itto was picking from Yoimiya’s food.
Lumine drops Shinobu, and she goes and falls back against her chair once again, (Lumine will have to apologize later, but at least the fall helped to get Shinobu well awake and alert once again), she walks over to Itto, and she notes that he’s already having trouble breathing.
“I’m calling the ambulance.” She just nods to let Ayato know that she heard.
Shinobu, now awake quickly realizes what is happening, and focuseson waking up Thoma, Ayaka and Yoimiya, once in a while a string of curses leaves her lips and Lumine also feels like her.
Ayato leaves for the entrance of the restaurant and probably to let the staff know about the arrival of the, ambulance, besides her Itto has stopped talking and painting is the only sound that comes out of his mouth.
She doesn’t know how long it takes, but by the time that she hears the sirens of the ambulance, Shinobu has managed to wake up the other three, and they are barely getting the hangout of the situation when Ayato comes back, whom she assumes to be paramedics behind him.
What comes next is muddled and she barely registers talking with Ayato while Itto is being taken away, Ayato says that he’ll drive the others with him in his car and it would be better if Lumine goes alongside Itto, they’ll have to leave one of the cars behind, but with the present situation, they decide that that is a problem for tomorrow.
Next thing she knows she’s riding in the front of the ambulance, the roads luckily and thanks to the late hour and empty and they have no problems, as they make the way she barely registers the driver asking her about Itto’s allergy and about other things. She doesn’t know how but she somehow manages to answer them all.
They finally arrive at the hospital, and Itto is immediately hauled off to the ER, not that much later Ayato and the rest show up.
Is not that long before some doctor or something like that shows up, Itto is already well, the group is allowed into the room, and the doctor explains how they want to keep Itto overnight, something about him having been drunk and how they want to make sure that the alcohol and the medicines don’t clash or something like that, Lumine is tired, and over some of the chairs in the room, Thoma and Ayaka are once again sleeping, Shinobu and Yoimiya will soon join them, and Ayato is already starting to doze off.
Lumine barely manages to thank the doctor or something like that, and once the doctor leaves she goes and collapses over one of the chairs.
Some nurses enter the room, and do some checkups on Itto but before they finish Lumine falls asleep and knows nothing else.
