Work Text:
They were soulmates. They had known since the day they met at four years old. As kids, they didn’t completely understand the weight behind it. They were inseparable and always touching; holding hands. Their families had to make an arrangement for sleepovers and such, as the two refused to do anything without the other. Their mothers gave them bubble baths together every night and their fathers got them ready for school every morning.
As teens they shyly took their first steps into a romantic relationship. They allowed each other to graze tentative fingers over their matching soul marks. A sun taking up Kojiro’s shoulder and a crescent moon hidden behind Kaoru’s ear. They took care of each other. Kojiro only trusted Kaoru’s hands to help him maintain his undercut. Kaoru only trusted Kojiro’s fingers to massage his scalp when a headache creeped through. Kojiro, always the more affectionate of the two, would trace Kaoru’s mark for hours on end when the two were alone.
The feeling of one’s soulmate touching their mark is like no other.
As adults, their love is as strong as it has ever been. Kaoru will plant gentle kisses in the center of his husband’s mark, which leads to Kojiro returning the favor every time. Sometimes it’s just that. A tender moment between life-long lovers. A secret touch between soulmates, reserved for private settings. Sometimes, however, the feeling of each other’s lips against their marks will drive each other mad. They flood into more passionate endeavors until neither can catch their breath. Those nights are always the most fun.
Perhaps they are fated lovers by the hands of the universe, but their friendship and playful rivalry is the result of their own hard work. They’re sworn enemies at ‘S’, best friends in their professional lives, and happily married at home. They are lucky to have found each other twenty-two years ago, growing together and shaping each other into the men they are now. Never having to have awkward encounters while searching for their soulmate. They have had each other forever, and will have each other forevermore.
