Work Text:
After the fall of the Hero Public Safety Commission, and after Touya was released from rehab, Keigo and Touya knew they would finally have the time and freedom for anything.
Even if it was Keigo lessening his hero time and Touya not working too much so they could focus more on them and the two small pairs of feet that now ran around the small house, tiny wings flitting happily as some of Keigo’s feathers floated about them, the twins laughing as they tried to catch them.
After All For One’s fall and class 1-A becoming grown, licensed, and now out and about, Keigo knew he could breathe easier and focus more on his family.
“I got one!” Their son, Aka, hopped victoriously as he held one of the feathers up.
“Did he?” Suzume looked to where Keigo had been watching, sitting on the living room couch with his elbows resting on his knees.
Suzume’s wings matched Keigo’s perfectly, meanwhile her older twin’s were crimson with navy blue tips.
“That’s mine.” Keigo smirked. “Unless you feel it, Suzume? I don’t see any navy on that feather.” He could feel that tiny five-year-old hand holding it, too.
Aka was the spitting image of Touya when he was that age; Rei had shown Keigo baby pictures.
He just didn’t have any white hair, a relief to Touya.
The only other differences were the markings at his eyes to match Keigo’s and the wings. He could even use blue fire, like Touya, and his feathers, unlike Keigo’s and Suzume’s, were fire resistant. He could ignite them, even, without disintegrating them.
“I don’t.” Suzume was strawberry blonde, had the same feathery hair texture as Keigo, and also had Keigo’s markings and Touya’s eyes.
“Then that must be one of mine.”
“Told ya!”
The way Keigo and Touya both doted over them, it surprised some to learn they were an accident, and especially the timing.
Dabi leading Hawks to his new bedroom after that big meeting announcing the union of the league and front was their start. Their birth, while Touya was incarcerated, had Hawks having to do serious pleading and bargaining to allow him to be present. That was also when he learned for the first time that he, Touya, was now a father of two.
The bargaining and special guest to the birth were kept secret, leaving people guessing who the father was, but never Touya.
It wasn’t until the twins, as babies, met Enji and Rei that someone caught on.
Enji had visibly held his breath for a moment before softly apologizing and admitting the boy looked ‘familiar’.
“Familiar?”
Enji had nodded as he gently stroked Aka’s cheek with a large hand. “He looks so much like Touya did.”
Keigo smiled. “So you’ll believe me when I say you’re their grandpa?”
Keigo had never seen that man cry like he did, he seemed to be so overwhelmed with emotion all at once.
The front door now opening had both pairs of bright blue eyes widen. “I’m home!”
“Dad!” The twins ran over to tackle each leg, all as Keigo watched from the couch.
His family.
It was moments like these that left Keigo so overwhelmed by his own emotions, his wings lightly fluffed with joy and a loving smile tugging his lips, he’d be left thinking he needed a spare heart for all this.
This was his heaven on earth.
“Welcome home, Touya.”
Touya smiled at him with two healthy lips, with unscarred cheeks rising a touch from it and eyes that could shed clear tears. The grafting had all finally been completed, bit by bit, just last year, with a bit of it still a tad off in pigment.
Keigo had loved him scarred, but he loved seeing him in better health even more.
“Have the chicks been behaving while I was at work?”
“We have!” Aka presented him with the feather proudly. “Lookie! I finally caught one of Mommy’s feathers!”
‘Mommy’. Keigo wanted to hold them both so tight every time they talked like that, they were so precious.
“Oh?” Touya watched Keigo as he retrieved it, watching soft lips purse as he stroked the feather slowly between fingers.
“Looks like you did. Nice job, Aka!”
“I almost did!” Suzume had a pout in her voice.
“Oh, I bet!” Touya scooped their daughter up, eliciting a surprised chirp from her before she began to laugh. “You two’ll be catching all his feathers before you know it!”
Before either parent did, too.
“Hun.” Touya looked to see Keigo reaching toward him. “Momma bird wants a hug, too.”
“Give Mommy a hug, Dad!” Suzume was such a sweetheart.
Aka could be, but he was still proving to be more of a Daddy’s boy than anything.
“Of course.” Touya scooped Aka up before bringing two giggling children to Keigo, setting them in Keigo’s lap before hugging all three of them. “Gotta get my welcome home hugs from all of you!”
Neither Keigo nor Touya had the best childhood, but they were giving their twins their all, no matter what.
Their twins, but also each other.
