drip. drip. little spots of rain fall from the edges of shinobu’s umbrella. tori can’t see or hear them, until he steps closer. but he still doesn’t really see them since he’s now able to catch the way his companions eyes go glassy- like they always do when he’s become too absorbed in thought to remember to blink.
“do you know you do that?” he asks from outside the barrier of the umbrella.
“do what?” shinobu tilts his head to one side, his umbrella to the other- removing the thin protection from between himself and tori but not the rain.
he hadn’t expected to be heard, much less answered. “st-stare off.” he tugs the umbrella back down, rubbing the clear material with his thumb. “it makes your eyes look all…” tori is aware his face is getting hot and he decides he’s no longer okay with this conversation. “urgh! forget it!” and then because he doesn’t want shinobu to worry he tacks on “it isn’t a bad thing…”
“is it cute?”
tori lets go of the umbrella in surprise and it springs back up. (he feels exposed without it even though shinobu could see him just as well through the clear plastic.) “i told you to forget about that!”
shinobu smiles. “i don’t want to.” he passes tori the umbrella and steps into his personal space.
tori bites his bottom lip. “are you flirting with me?”
that breaks shinobu’s cool demeanor “u-um…” he flushes and looks away. “w-was i?”
tori takes a step in closer. “you definitely were!” he lays his hand on shinobu’s chest. “don’t stop though.”
“so… keep flirting with you?” shinobu rests his hand on tori’s waist. “o-only if you do it back!”
tori stares for a moment, then he smirks. “mhmm. of course~ of course~”
“good…”
and then he kisses tori.
he starts, dropping the umbrella. the clattering shakes him further but the light feeling of rain on his face brings tori back to earth. he pushes himself up on his tiptoes, throwing his arms around shinobu’s neck. shinobu holds tori by the waist, and just keeps kissing him- oh this is perfect.
if only tori could hold his breath forever, but he has to separate eventually. he keeps his arms around shinobu’s neck, staring up at him with lovey eyes. “finally! it took you forever to do thattttt…”
shinobu squeezes him around the abdomen. “you could’ve done it first. i would have been happy!”
he clicks his tongue. “i didn’t know that! whenever i’d try anything you’d get so embarrassed. i didn’t wanna like… scare you!” he moves his hands from shinobu’s neck to his face. “i-i… really like you okay? i was just… afraid of getting rejected.”
“well you don’t have to be afraid now. i like you too.” he leans back in and kisses tori again.
he accepts the kiss, and then pulls back. he pouts, “why are you being so cool now? go back to being all cute and shy shinobu!”
shinobu hums and picks his umbrella back up. “you’re always cuter though.” he holds the umbrella back over them, and takes tori’s hand.
“i’m coming over to your house you know!” he chirps, squeezing shinobu’s hand. “i mean, unless you don’t wanna.”
“no, no. come over please!” he leans over and presses his face into tori’s hair. “i wanna kiss you more.”
“good!” he pursues his lips. “i wanna kiss you too, o~kay~?”
