The Adventures of Mini Ike

Summary:

This is a fic I made while waiting for my Ike Puppet plushie thing. Mini Ike takes an adventure to his new home.

Notes:

This might be more self-indulgent than generalized, so apologies on that. Regardless, I hope you like the Adventures of Mini Ike. This is all based on some adorable artwork on twitter by battle_doctrine. I don't know if links on this site will work to not, so I hope naming the artist is okay for now as I am referencing their works as a whole. Please let me know just in case and I will link either in an edit or in the next chapter. I have no idea how AO3 works.

Thank you!

Work Text:

There's a quiet almost silent pattering on the floor as Mini Ike, not even five inches tall in height, takes items from around his living area and into his large (for his size) brown suitcase. With a smile ever-present on his face, he neatly folds his clothes and checks his map one more time. Most of his other items were already shipped to his new home across the ocean, but he kept some personal objects to have with him during the flight.

A whole flight! From where he was it would definitely take many hours before the plane arrived at his destination, and he would have to go through customs before he's able to get to where he needs to go. Regardless, it was still a fun adventure! While he wasn't exactly the "Other Ike" who was many centimeters taller than him, he still knew some ways to communicate even if he couldn't speak. Even better, he was moving in with a new friend! He picked up the official letter that had the name and address of his new home, and as nervous as he was to be in a completely new environment, Mini Ike felt so much excitement that the loop of string on his head shook from side to side like a tail. One last check of the map and letter, two clicks from the now-closed suitcase, and he was on his way!

The ride to the airport took a while but Mini Ike was able to find his gate with little difficulty. Thankfully there were some kind strangers who let him ride on their own suitcases to the gate, or else it would have taken him much longer. Having never seen an airport before, it amazed him to see how big the inside was. Though, getting through security was a minor challenge, but once the workers let him ride through the conveyor belt in one of the trays he was set to go. One of the flaps to enter and exit the screening area of the conveyor belt knocked him down even though he was sitting still, but otherwise it was fairly painless. At the gate, the same helpful strangers offered to help him find his seat but Mini Ike declined. Even with his size he was able to find his seat with relative ease, and the seatbelt wasn't too constricting. Soon the plane started up, and up his flight went! He made sure to hold onto his suitcase and the seatbelt during turbulent moments, but it wasn't too easy.

The flight took many hours, but thankfully Mini Ike packed a few books and a notebook and pen before leaving. Having to sleep on the plane was a little difficult when the seatbelt took up a good chunk of his body, but once he got over being unable to move any of his limbs it was oddly snuggly. The view of the plane in the sky was amazing! Endless clouds and blue sky, and seeing the sun peeking was harsh on the eyes but it was an amazing view! Mini Ike wrote in his notebook everything he saw and experienced thus far, and it only filled him with even more excitement. The friend he was moving in with lived in a busy town next to some woodland, but there was a busy city section of the town on the other side. He imagined what kind of small shops he would see, all of the bright lights of the city, and maybe even what animals he might encounter. The soft pinging of the captain's message snapped Mini Ike out of his thoughts. They were beginning to descent soon!

More turbulence later, Mini Ike stepped off the plane and looked around the busy airport. Even though the activity level was fairly the same, there was a different feeling in the air as he walked past the rushing families and flight attendants going to and from different gates. Speaking of gates, he looked at the signs above for where the Customs booths would be, but his string loop drooped down when he saw that it was much farther than where he was. Since everyone was rushing to get to and from the planes, Mini Ike saw no other choice than to venture his own way to the Customs booths. Some people did look his way and a few did offer to take him part of way, but for the most part it was just him and his suitcase against the long hallways of the airport. Doing his best to avoid getting stepped on, he did however learn where he was which only added more heaviness to his heart. He was in a completely different place than what his letter said. It was the same country, but a completely different area and even timezone! looks like he would have to explain the situation to Customs...

It took a long while to get to Customs but he was able to make the trip as well as explain what happened. Thankfully Mini Ike had just misread his plane ticket and learned of the next plane he was to take, but the realization still added worry and a bit of strain to his optimism. Customs was especially difficult, but to make up for the harsh interrogation a worker offered to take him to his gate on their break. From there it was just another plane ride, this time much shorter, and he landed in the correct airport. All of his items were still accounted for, and after a bit of back and forth with the Uber driver he was on his way to his new friend. He just hoped that they didn't have to wait too long for his arrival.
