“Baby,” Narda looked up from her phone and gaze at her girlfriend who is currently sporting a very red nose and teary eyes. Worry immediately creeped into her chest seeing the usual stone-cold woman look so tired and sick.
Narda stood up from her study table and held her girlfriend’s cheeks, brows furrowing in concern as how warm Regina feels like under her palm, “Ang init mo, baby. May masakit ba?”
Regina nodded as she leans her forehead on Narda’s shoulder, “My head hurts.”
“Inom ka gamot?” Narda pulls the woman closer to her, letting the other lean all her weight unto her, “Huwag ka na muna pumasok mamaya ha? Ako na magsasabi sa prof mo.”
Regina could only hum in response, ramdam pa rin kasi niya ang pagkirot ng ulo niya kaya mas sumiksik nalang siya sa leeg ni Narda who could only hold her tighter.
She didn’t expect to be this sick when she let herself get rained on earlier. Bigla ba naman kasing bumuhos yung ulan noong pauwi na siya. Well, Narda wanted to fetch her pero siya itong nagpumilit na huwag na dahil may dala naman siyang payong. But she didn’t expect how strong the rain would be along with the wind, kaya wala ring kwenta yung payong niya kasi basang-basa pa rin siyang nakauwi. And well, this is the consequence of her stubbornness.
“Let’s go, wala muna tayong movie night, so you could rest.” Narda held her until they reached their shared room, inalalayan pa siya nitong humiga, “Wag ka muna matulog, kukuha lang ako ng gamot, okay?” Narda gently put their blanket on her before leaving a soft peck on her forehead.
Mabilis din naman itong bumalik na may dalang tray, containing her meds and a glass of water, “Here, upo ka muna then drink this.”
Narda helped her sit up, before letting her drink up her meds. Narda could only smile seeing the frown on her girlfriend’s face, “Pait?” Regina nodded, putting the glass of water back on the tray.
Narda grinned before giving her a soft kiss on her lips, “No, baby!” Regina shrieked, her hand covering her mouth, “Baby, you’ll get sick too!”
“Hindi yan, ‘wag ka mag-alala.” Narda winked at her before standing up to put the tray on their study table.
“You’re so pasaway.” Regina groaned as she rolled her eyes at her girlfriend.
Natawa nalang si Narda bago siya pumasok sa CR nila to grab a basin of water, “Tulog ka na, baby. I-ready ko lang yung pamunas ko sayo.”
“But I want cuddles.” Regina pouted but lay down nonetheless, “I don’t need that na, just come here and cuddle me to sleep.”
Narda couldn’t stop herself from smiling. Sa kanya lang ganito si Regina dahil madalas itong nagsusungit, kaya natutuwa siya sa nakikita niya sa girlfriend niya. She could only shake her head bago siya naglakad palapit sa girlfriend niya na hinihintay siya, “Sige, let’s sleep na.”
Regina immediately hugged her as soon as she lied down, “Ang init mo, baby.” Narda says, as Regina rests on her chest, head tucked under her chin, “Please, get well soon, baby.”
Narda just continues to play with Regina’s hair, while her other hand is gently rubbing the latter’s cheek. These helps the woman sleep, like always.
This has always been their routine, Regina would be the small spoon─ far from how their schoolmates and friends would picture her, while Narda would be the big spoon.
This is them between each other.
Just for them to see.
