Work Text:
While on patrol, Bakugou gets knocked into by a time-traveling quirk-haver. He's swapped with middle-aged him. Todoroki, who was with him when it happened, brought him back to the dorms and was led around; basically reminiscing on the place. He gets berated with questions about everyone's future selves once they hear the news.
When Kirishima got back, Kaminari yelled, "dude, come quick!"
As soon as he ran into the room half hardened, Bakugou smirked and stood up from the couch.
"Damn, this is when you were still a short fry!" He said as he crossed the room to him, but Kirishima got worried and asked what happened, noticing how different the man looked as he unhardened.
The quirk situation is explained to him as Bakugou hugs him, making Kirishima melt into his arms as if they've done this a million times before.
"Can probably pick you up with your quirk fully activated too, you're so light!" Bakugou scoffed as he easily picked him up, sitting the boy on his right palm as the other held his back to support him.
"What're you doing?" Kirishima asked.
"Testin' my theory. Activate your quirk!" He asked, tone less demanding than his Bakugou would use, but still had that same authoritative nature to it.
Kirishima did as he was told, only leaving parts touching the older blonde soft so he wouldn't hurt him.
"Oh, SO much lighter!" Bakugou proudly boasted as he put the confused redhead down and scanned his body.
"Wait, was this-" he asked as he lifted Kirishima's shirt as he protested with a "hey!"
"It was ! Damn, I'm this far back?" He said as he let the shirt go and walked back to the couch.
"What were you looking for, Kacchan?" Midoriya asked, still taking notes like he had been since meeting the older man.
"Katsuki! " He quickly corrected him, this being the umpteenth time since they'd met.
Not waiting to hear his flustered apology, he went on to answer his question.
"During our third year, he got a scar across his chest from a villain. He shoved me outta the way, but it got through his hardening with a quirked sword." He said as he made a line over his shirt on his right pec. "Blasted your ass to the nearest hospital and they took you outta my arms. Made me wait 3 fuckin' hours before I could see you, and that was AFTER I called your moms to come in; then they gave me permission..." He huffed, laying back and crossing his ankle over his other legs' knee.
"Why wouldn't they let you in?" Kirishima asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Nurses said all a hothead like me would do was put more stress on you," Bakugou answered with a roll of his eyes. "Your moms flipped shit on them for that!" He snickered. "Escorted me back themselves after they told ‘em it was a bad idea to get between them and their future son-in-law." He smirked.
A few audible gasps were heard as he finished his story.
"Your… what? " Kirishima gasped as well.
That made Bakugou meet his eyes. Seeing the confusion and shock on his face, he knew he jumped the gun on what his younger self hadn't done just yet; tell his best friend one of the things that changed his life for the better.
"Ah, shit !" He huffed. "He didn't tell you yet, did he?"
Bakugou squinted and looked away, knotting his eyebrows like he did when he was trying to figure out something. "Did I ?" He corrected himself.
"He… you… we… " Kirishima tried to piece things together. "The ring!" He said, eyes settling on Bakugou's left hand.
He crossed the room and grabbed his scarred hand, looking at the ring and noticing the discerning size difference between the one he was used to and the hand that was currently in his.
"Picked it out yourself," Bakugou told him as the redhead studied the ring on his finger.
Bakugou slid it off and placed it in Kirishima's hand, letting him study it closely. His eyes landed on a red gear between the black bands. Engraved in gold under it, a date not even a full year in the future.
A date that would later become their graduation day from UA and the day Bakugou got down on one knee in front of their entire class, only for Kirishima to join him and take out an identical box.
Just as he glanced up to look at Bakugou's face, he noticed something he hadn't previously; a scar showing from under his shirt. Bakugou saw where he was looking and pulled the shirt to the side a bit to let him get a better look, realizing the event causing it hadn't taken place here yet.
"What happened?" Kirishima asked, fingertips reaching out to gently kiss the healed battle wound without even registering what he was doing.
"Just another asshole villain who has no consideration for a hero's life; same shit, different day." Bakugou gestured to the scarred right side of his face and a dozen others that littered his skin after sliding his ring back where it belonged.
"Wow, you're a lot calmer than the Bakugou we know!" Uraraka piped up from another part of the room.
"This one boasts all the time that’s his and our runts’ doing." He said, pointing a thumb towards Kirishima. " 'Who woulda thought the family life would mellow you out? ' Hear that shit constantly !" Bakugou smiled, seeing Kirishima light up at the mention of them starting a family together.
"We have kids ?!" He immediately teared up as his bottom lip wobbled.
"3 runts, 2 dogs, a cat, and a shitton of plants you think you take care of but I'm really the one keeping them alive." Bakugou playfully said, gently wiping a stray tear that rolled down Kirishima's cheek.
He used the same hand to pull his phone out and open the default lock screen, something Kirishima noticed that he still did years in the future so no one could see into his personal life without his permission. He put in his code, not caring if the other watched, but twisted his arm as soon as he was about to open his gallery.
"There's shit you shouldn't see, you still being a minor an’ all in this timeline." Bakugou simply put it when he knew he was about to be questioned why he wasn't allowed to see.
"Oooh, who's nudes you hidin'?" Kaminari teased.
"Mine and Eijirou's," he said matter of factly.
He got a few "oooh's" as Kirishima's cheeks reddened in embarrassment. He looked up from his phone at his former classmates giggling to themselves.
"We've been together for almost 25 years, gotta have something for those long nights the other's out on patrols." He shrugged, not caring in the slightest who knew what his husband's body did to him… or for him.
He got to the pictures he wanted to share with the younger version of his husband. As soon as he voiced that he found them, everyone was on him to connect his phone with the TV to share with the entire class. He caved and as soon as the first picture went up, everyone gasped at the difference.
This Kirishima, like Bakugou, was older, obviously, but his body was VERY different from the one everyone was used to seeing around the dorms and school. He looked to be in the 6ft range instead of 5'7" and when asked, Bakugou said he was around 6'7" and about 330lbs; close to double that when fully hardened. The picture he had up was them side by side holding paintball guns, decked out in all the protective gear for battle.
A few pictures in and it was their wedding, both in fancy, custom-made suits holding hands in front of an older Iida, who they found out had gotten his marriage certification specifically just to officiate his friend’s weddings. Kirishima had his hair done in a beautiful braided crown that kept it out of his face, but still left a majority of the luscious mane loosely curled, flowing down to the middle of his back. The crown had golden flowers weaved into it to give highlights to the blazing red. He also had the same two spiked "horns" on the front like he does when it's usually spiked up.
He played a video right after and it was the ceremony; Iida marrying them to be one. It was the whole speech from start to finish, but he skipped it after they all got to see what roles they played in their wedding. Kaminari, Ashido, and a few friends from his middle school were Kirishima's best men while Todoroki, Midoriya, Sero, and Uraraka were all Bakugou's.
The pictures directly after were them sharing their first kiss as husbands. The first picture was Kirishima bent almost in half and the next was him picking up Bakugou and standing back up straight; holding him the same way Bakugou picked the Kirishima sitting next to him up. Next was Bakugou -now also known as Mr. Kirishima- being carried with one arm around the other Mr. Kirishima's neck, while the other hand was flipping off the camera with a shit-eating grin plastered on his face. Kirishima was showing off his huge, signature smile and holding up a peace sign with the hand that wasn't cradling his beloved bridal style against his chest. The last picture taken in the same time frame was Eijirou still carrying Katsuki while he was lovingly holding his face and kissing him. If you were to look close enough, you’d be able to see them smiling into the kiss as stray tears of pure happiness rolled down both of the Kirishima’s cheeks.
The wedding was outside, which Kirishima recognized as the park they usually went to study and hang out at after school. They stood in front of the tree they always sat by to do their homework under and cut the cake, feeding each other the first bites and kissing the frosting off their lips.
"That cake looks amazing!" Satou commented.
"You made it; it was delicious!" Bakugou praised as he started talking about the cake more, going into detail about the cake he'd specialty crafted for their wedding and never again after that.
As they were eating their cake together, a little girl walked into the frame and right up to Bakugou, who instantly smiled and picked her up. She had a beautiful autumn-themed dress on, matching the season with black sandals to easily run around and play in. She eyed the larger man's cake and started trying to get his attention, not needing to try too hard. He cooed at her as he airplaned a bite of cake into her tiny, but vocal, mouth. She joyously hummed at the taste and quickly demanded another bite.
"That's Akiko, she's our youngest. She can either be an angel or hell on wheels, all depending if she feels you're not giving her enough attention." Bakugou informed everyone about the little brunette in his arms in the video. "She was left like a stray in the park, good thing Ei had patrols that night. He took her to the hospital ‘cause she was almost blue from how cold it was. That was the day after Halloween; she spent just under 2 weeks in the NICU. I think she was about to turn 3 this month." He said, talking about her age in the video.
"Poor thing! Who can just leave a baby out in the cold like that?" Yaoyorozu remarked.
"Never found out who dumped her. She's better off with us anyway. Anyone that can leave a kid in the cold like that under a pile of leaves the day after she's born doesn't fuckin' deserve her!" He protectively growled.
They watched Kirishima keep playfully feeding her as Bakugou held her and lovingly cleaned the crumbs and frosting that didn't make it into her mouth for her with a napkin. Another little girl a few years older came into frame and up to Kirishima, patting him on his leg to get his attention. He smiled down at her and asked what she needed, dropping the smile and gaining a worried look when he noticed tears in her eyes. He put the cake down and pulled his pants up a bit by the thighs to give him more room to move and squatted down to be closer to her face as he listened to her tell him why she was upset. He opened his arms and picked her up when she wrapped her arms around his neck. Kirishima cradled the child and rubbed her back as she sobbed into his neck.
"That's Chieko, she fell off the jungle gym and hit her side. She came up and wanted Daddy 'kiss it, make it better. '" Bakugou said as Kirishima put her back on her feet, lifted her cider-colored dress, showing a pair of orange G.E.M.G.D.-banded shorts under, and pressed a gentle kiss to the spot she said hurt then asked if that made it feel better.
She told him no, but that she'd be okay as she wiped her face and blew into the napkin Kirishima was holding to her nose. He told her that she was strong and manly for toughing it out and going back out to play, but if it's still hurting and bothering her to let them know.
"Our oldest was around 10, I think. His name's Makoto; actually picked it himself when he came out to us." Bakugou nonchalantly said as the video ended abruptly and he quickly scrolled through a few pictures.
He stopped on a family portrait of all 5 of them. Bakugou holding Akiko and Kirishima mirroring him by holding Chieko. Their son stood in between them dressed in a full suit and tie like his fathers were, smiling just as brightly as the taller of the two. You could tell everything was made by Bakugou's parents, including the portrait itself. There wasn't a hair out of place! The suits and dresses were all hand-crafted by the notoriously-skilled fashion designers and the photo was taken by their partner company that takes pictures of all of their work on some of the most iconic models in all of Japan, if not the whole world.
"Oh, he's transgender?" Kirishima questioned, being well-versed on the LGBTQIA+ community from a very young age.
"Yeah, kid came down for breakfast one morning while I was cookin' and said 'hey, pops, can you start calling me Makoto from now on?' I asked 'im why and he told me he didn't like his name 'cause it didn't fit him. I told 'im 'good enough for me' and I've never fucked up!" He shrugged, explaining his son's whole coming out story; getting prideful with the last sentence.
"People who say it's 'too hard to remember' and make stupid fuckin' excuses why they won't do something to make their heathens feel more comfortable piss me the hell off! Then they wonder why the fuck their kids don't feel safe tellin' 'em shit!? Like, yeah, I fuckin' wonder! My brats come to me for anything and everything ; same with Ei! Yours don't, ya better start actin' like an adult and stop being a little bitch about the small shit that means the world to 'em! Suck up your pride and admit you don't know 'em better than they know themselves!" Bakugou barked, obviously upset.
"Older me's right, a family did you well ! Not that you were bad before, I've liked your personality ever since I got to know you. It's so manly hearing how passionate you get about stuff like that!" Kirishima remarked.
Bakugou's anger seemed to fizzle out with the compliment, a smug smirk replacing the previous snarl.
"You think it's hot when I do it, you should see my Eiji dealing with transphobes. That man goes feral and, God , I fuckin' love it! Nothin' sexier than an almost 7-foot brick shithouse making a group of 'God Hates Gays' cower and run away with their tails between their legs while working security for Pridefest in only a pair of Red Riot-branded Pride shorts!" Bakugou proudly boasted, searching for the picture that correlated with said event.
A vast majority laughed and cheered at his future actions while others agreed that Kiri was the last person they'd ever want mad at them.
"Tell us more stories!" One of his former classmates requested.
Bakugou looked over at Aizawa, checking to see his reaction.
"I've gotten confirmation already that a side effect of the quirk is that no one's going to remember anything happened once it wears off, so the future won't change." He shrugged him off, basically giving him the go-ahead to continue.
"What d'you wanna know?" Bakugou asked the group of high schoolers.
"Do I get married to a pretty lady?!" Kaminari quickly yelled from beside him.
"You're not married, but you and ‘Toshi are fuckin'." Bakugou answered.
"As in… Shinsou?" Kaminari asked as he looked across the way at him, both having surprised looks on their faces.
"What about me and Han-Han?" Ashido asked as she cuddled into Sero's side and kissed his cheek.
"You and Tin Man have a couple crotch goblins of your own," Bakugou told her, saying nothing about Sero.
"If you're dating Tetsu, what happened to him and Kendo?" Kirishima asked.
"They decided they're ace and broke up with him 'cause they didn't want him to miss out on the stuff he wanted, but couldn't get from them… or some shit like that. I dunno, you brought him home one night after drinks 'cause he was cryin' in his beer about their break up." Bakugou clarified the best he could with limited knowledge.
"Anyone else here married?" He was asked.
"You two-" he pointed at Midoriya and Todoroki, "-have been less than half the time we have." He said, comparing their marriage to his and Kirishima's. "That's after ‘Chako had her way with him." He informed the group that Midoriya and Uraraka were formerly a couple. "Now she's with Frogger and they got a little tadpole."
"We have a baby?!" Uraraka squeaked as she heard the news, looking over at Asui to gauge her reaction.
"Technically, it’s only yours and his kid from when you two were a thing, but the 4 of you raise it together or some shit like that. I dunno how that works, but Eiji sets up play dates with all the kids; not only to keep the semen demons happy, but he's a gossip hound that wants everyone to keep in touch." Bakugou corrected.
"Oh, so it's a poly relationship?" Midoriya asked, more to himself than to Bakugou before he started muttering to himself.
"Those two are rich lesbians together," he said as he nodded toward Jirou and Yaoyorozu. "The most vanilla couple that could get together, did," Bakugou grunted as he talked about Ojiro and Hagakure. "I dunno how he keeps finding the hole, but you fuckers got like 6 hyperactive heathens!" He said, which made them blush but everyone else broke out in laughter.
He looked over at their teacher, who seemed to enjoy hearing about his student's futures, and smirked. "You're still married to Mic, but both of you are fully retired from being Heroes and teachers. Saw you at the last reunion and Mic was promoting the new club he owns and DJs at and your cat sanctuary/cafe. You own somethin' like 20 acres of land you can walk through and see all the cats you rescued from the shelters. There's a cafe on the land where the cats can come in and walk through all the tunnels and cat trees that you built into the building. It looks like a jungle inside, like an actual jungle with real plants and shit. That's just the one I've been in anyway, there's a desert-themed one you opened on the land too and we just haven't got there to see it yet. We took the kids to the jungle one, they fuckin’ loved it! Seein' all the cats in the glass walls playin' on the equipment was cool as hell!"
"That sounds dope!" Kirishima spoke for everyone.
"You got your own bakery that branched off into a chain of 'em. Every individual shop donates half the proceeds to different charities. You sell exclusively local businesses stuff in your shop, other than the food, obviously. All the money goes back to them; your storefronts are just a place to advertise their shit." Bakugou said to Satou as he started looking through his phone.
He showed pictures of one of the bakeries Satou owns, telling them how amazing the food tastes and how they exclusively buy their fresh bread and other baked goods there instead of from supermarkets. Bakugou tells the story of how either he or Kirishima takes all 3 kids in to pick out a donut every weekend while they get a new loaf of fresh-baked bread to use throughout the week.
When asked if there were any stores they frequented like the bakery, he shared that they rarely ever go to any stores not locally owned or sourced. It was something that the adults prided themselves on, even getting some of their classmates to start doing the same. All their meat came from the butchers and their fresh fruits and veggies -the ones they didn't grow in their own garden- from the local farmer's market. All of the vendors introduced themselves to the heroes when they noticed the childless couple start frequenting their stands, learning from the friendlier of the two that they had just moved into the area.
He also showed pictures of Aizawa's cat sanctuary where scruffy-faced Kirishima was holding baby Akiko. He was guiding her hand out for a black cat with light hints of red in his coat from the sun to sniff the tips of her fingers. She stared at the kitty, curiosity enveloping her dark brown eyes as a little black nose hovered over delicate skin. The next picture was a, barely able to walk, Chieko being held up by Makoto by the hips so she could pet a pretty calico maine coon that had wandered up to her for affection. He swiped to the next one, which was Kirishima leaning on a bridge railing. He had one arm around each daughter's waist as they sat on the railing, looking into the water to see beautiful fish swimming under their reflections. Taken on the same bridge, Kirishima was sitting down in the middle of it with both of the older kids sitting on his folded thighs while the youngest sat in her brother's lap. They were surrounded by a couple of curious kitties.
He went through a few more of the outing at the cat sanctuary, getting to pictures of them sitting in the cafe. He wasn't kidding when he said it looked like a jungle! There were well-taken care of plants everywhere!
Bakugou, without turning the screen sharing off, pulled up Kirishima's social media. They all saw his daily fitness pictures of him shirtless or in loose-fitting tank tops in front of a wall mirror, complete with a motivational quote typed under it.
"Wait, go back?" Kirishima asked, talking about the newest picture.
Bakugou did as he was asked and scrolled back up. It was the first time Kirishima was able to see a full-body shot of his older self.
He saw all the scars that littered his body, including the one that was on his chest -now very light from years past- that Bakugou was talking about earlier. Along with a well-groomed beard, older Kirishima also now was covered in ink. Heavily muscled arms were tattooed down to his wrists, something he hadn't seen in previous pictures. The tattoos spread all the way across his chest, most in color, but some done just in black.
"Sick ink, dude!" Sero commented on them.
"Bro, Kiri, you're, like-" Kaminari's cheeks started to redden as he spoke.
"Fuckin' hot !" Bakugou cut him off, finishing the thought a few people had based on their agreeing reactions.
Kirishima had been looking at all the new tattoos, scars, and stretch marks that coated his nude upper half, whereas others had noticed just how attractive their classmate was.
Adult Kirishima had a lot of muscle packed on, giving him an All Might or Endeavor body build, but instead of having well-defined abs, he has a strongman's core. To an untrained eye, it looked like it could just be a pocket of fat, whereas anyone who knew what a strongman looked like knew how much muscle was packed onto the hero.
During his time with Fat Gum, he'd learned that having a thick, protective layer of fat on his stomach was a valuable piece of knowledge. Living in the dorms and letting Bakugou cook for him was just another part of why he was okay with gaining more weight. He started cooking for the both of them when Bakugou suggested that it would make him stronger -like it did with Kirishima’s mentor- if he had more fat on his body; safely covering all his vital organs as well as a thicker layer to harden and become even more of an unstoppable force.
One tattoo kept catching Kirishima's eye, the grenade with the pin pulled over his heart with an explosion behind it. There were two banners that looked like they were singed by the explosion; one above the grenade and another under it. Over the top, it said: "Blasty" and under said: "McSplode." It was one of the hero names he told Bakugou to use since his kept getting shot down by Midnight during their first year. A name only Kirishima was able to get away with calling him.
Bakugou swiped the screen and it was now a picture of Kirishima's shirtless back as he flexed, also loaded with tattoos. The first one he saw was a child's drawing on his right shoulder blade. It was a picture Akiko did, Bakugou telling the group this when asked about it.
She drew Red Riot in his full glory when he received an award on national TV for being in the top 5 new and upcoming heroes of Japan. It was the first major award he’d received based on the people’s vote, but it meant even more to him because he was standing proudly next to his fiancé; them only being a few weeks out of high school at the time. She got the idea from one of the framed photos hung up on their wall of the event. His mothers had gifted them a collage they created by taking clippings of their son and son-in-law in newspapers or magazines and gluing them to a piece of poster board, which they framed to hang up in their new apartment.
“‘Our little artist,’ that’s what you always call her.” Bakugou smiled as he pulled up other artwork belonging to their youngest.
He had scrolled a good bit down and got to a video that older Kirishima took by propping his phone up against something. He’s looking at the phone with his eyebrows knotted slightly and his tongue sticking out, focusing on getting it to stay standing up. When it fell forward, you could hear a deep-voiced “shit,” uttered as he came back into the frame with his eyebrows tighter together than they were before; obviously focusing harder and getting slightly frustrated that it was taking so long. Once he got it to stay, all the frustration immediately melted away and was replaced by a huge grin. He moved back to sit down on the dark brown couch behind him. He was in a black tank top that said: “Daddy Shark” with a shark facing forward and its mouth open into a devious smile. It was branded with Kirishima’s gelled-up hair on top of the shark and had a deeper neckline, showing off just how muscular he’s gotten over the years.
“‘Sup everybody!” His enthusiastic smile crinkled his eyes as he talked to the viewer. “I just wanted to get on here and say thanks for all the birthday wishes and the kind messages everyone’s sent me! It means the world to me to see all of ‘em and the amazing art you guys do! If I didn’t see your message or reply to your comment, I’m so sorry! I promise I will get to them all eventually!” He made very clear how much every single person's contribution meant to him. “Anyway-” he clapped his hands together, “-I thought it would be cool to show you guys what I got for turning the big 4-0!”
“He’s 40?! Damn, Kiri! Lookin’ good for a middle-aged dad!” Ashido teased.
“Right?! I like my beard!” Kirishima remarked about himself, rubbing his bare chin.
“Are we just not gonna talk about the fact that he has nipple rings?” Sero pointed out.
“BRO, YOU GOT YOUR TITTIES PIERCED?!” Kaminari yelled as he cackled.
“Dude, I didn’t even notice that! Do I?!” He asked Bakugou.
“Tongue, ears, tits, and dick,” Bakugou smirked.
He watched the younger version of his husband get red at the news, rubbing the back of his neck like he usually does when he’s nervous and/or embarrassed as the older man barked a laugh. Bakugou was pressed for more details, but Kirishima begged him to just unpause the video and drop it.
“I got this shirt! It says “Daddy Shark” and, look!” He held the neck of the shirt up so you could see the whole picture. “It has my hair!” He pointed out, barking a deep-voiced giggle.
He lowered the shirt as he kept talking and picked up a few sheets of paper off their coffee table.
“Our little artist made these for me; she loves to draw! Kiki, baby, come here!” He called for their daughter.
Heavy, little footsteps came thundering through the hall to his right, pace matched by eight paws clicking on the hardwood. The same little girl Bakugou was holding in their wedding video, only a few years older, came barreling into frame, proudly showing him the paper in her hands. As she stopped in front of him, their two dogs didn’t and jumped on the couch as they started trying to get Kirishima to play with them.
“Whatcha got there, princess?” He laughed as he roughhoused with the dogs, putting both of them in playful headlocks that they instantly got out of.
“Get off the couch, ya filthy mutts!” Bakugou scolded from off camera, tone enforcing but he didn’t yell.
“‘Ooby, down!” The little girl ordered as she pointed at the floor.
The light brown dog jumped off the couch and sat at her feet obediently. She praised the dog as she pet his head, telling him he was a good boy for listening.
“Raijin, off!” Bakugou commanded, still not raising his voice, and the other dog jumped off the couch.
“You sit too, Rai!” She pushed on his back by the base of his tail, getting the dog to sit beside the other.
Scooby, named after their second youngest’s obsession with Scooby-Doo when they got him, is a light brown Tosa Inu with a white diamond on his chest right under where his collar tag rests. He has a black snout and some of the softest brown eyes you’ll ever see on a dog. Whereas Raijin, named after the God himself because of how thundering the dog’s footsteps are, is a marbled gray and white pitbull. He has a twisted line down his face that splits it unevenly in half; the white side having a bright blue eye and the soft gray side having a glossed-over gray eye where he lost it in a fighting ring they busted years prior.
Bakugou told the story of how he and Kirishima trained both dogs to be loving instead of ruthless. Scooby was a pound puppy Chieko picked out, him being a few months old when her heart chose him. He’d been played with and wanted by many families… until they found out that his breed was known for being aggressive fighting dogs and would get a lot bigger than what he was at the time. Bakugou, being the stricter of the two, was the one who trained both dogs to obey commands while Kirishima taught them how to be gentle with the kids. The kids taught them they could be loved instead of just seen as the barbaric beasts most people view their breeds as.
She held up her paper again to show him, proudly telling him, “it fo' you!”
“Thank you, little love!” He smiled as he took it from her and looked over it, taking in the picture.
“D’you wike it?” She asked.
“I love it! It’s one of a kind, just like you!” He scooped her up and sat her on his lap, blowing a raspberry into her cheek and making her squeal with joy as he tickled her.
After she got settled down, he asked if she wanted to show the people what she made for him.
“Dis one’s Daddy on him’s bike!” She said as she took one of the drawings from his hands and held it up for the viewers to see.
It was a crayon drawing of Kirishima donning his trademark spiked hair, sitting on a crimson red motorcycle.
"Down!" She said as she squirmed off his leg and bolted toward the hallway she came from, dogs quickly chasing after her.
She came back out, the dogs still hot on her trail as all three of them hauled ass past the couch where Kirishima was sitting. Kirishima grabbed his phone and pointed it the way she went, showing Bakugou cooking in their kitchen with an apron on. Both dogs sat patiently at the mouth of the open layout, having been trained to never come in so they weren’t in the way or begging for food. Bakugou was tending to a few pans on the stove as she walked up to him.
"Dada, Dada! I made dis fo' you!" She said as she tugged on his apron, holding up the paper for him to see.
"Thanks, Firecracker," he said as he picked her up and sat her on his hip while still cooking.
"You wike it?" She asked as she held it up for him to see.
He looked over at it and told her it "looks sick as hell" as he cooled a spoonful of what was in the pan and fed it to her. Kirishima quickly got up from the couch and went into the kitchen when he saw Bakugou was letting others taste test dinner. He asked for a taste and was told to get a spoon. Bakugou repeated the process, gathering up a bit of what was in the pot, cooling it by blowing on it, and carefully feeding it into his mouth.
" So good, Katsu!" Kirishima sighed happily at the taste, pressing a quick peck to Bakugou's lips.
Kirishima took Akiko from his arm and carried her back to the living room, sitting back on the couch and repositioning the phone to face him again.
"Wanna finish showing everyone your drawings?" Kirishima asked as he picked up the stack of papers, not including the one she showed her other father that was still in her hand.
She took the picture of Kirishima on his motorcycle from him and held it up with the one in her hands, telling the audience that it was Bakugou on his own orange motorcycle. Akiko went one-by-one through all the drawings that her daddy was holding and explained each creatively-colorful story behind the childish scribbles. Kirishima provided commentary throughout the whole escapade, showing how intently he was listening to her, but also translating for the viewers on the other side of the screen who weren’t used to the eager babbles of their child.
As she was talking, footsteps descending stairs could be heard somewhere else in the house and two bickering children entered the room soon after.
“Dad, she-” a voice whined.
“No, I didn’t!” A younger voice quickly overpowered the first.
“SHHH! I twyin’ sho’ my pic-tur!” Akiko scolded from Kirishima's lap, going right back to telling them what each scribble meant in her last picture.
“Dad-” the boy from the family picture came into frame.
“Gimme a minute, Mo. Alright, is that all?” He asked as he looked down at the drawings.
“Yup!” She nodded to him.
“Okay, I’ll end it here then. Again, thank you all for the birthday wishes and the awesome art, including you, little lady!” He said as he kissed Akiko’s head. “Hope everyone has a great weekend and remember-”
“‘Tay safe an’-” she cut him off, knowing how he ends any public announcement he makes.
“Always be manly!” They said together as she copied his iconic pose and infectious smile.
The last thing you saw was him laughing as he stopped the video.
“So what didn’t she do?” Bakugou was asked, explaining that Chieko took something of her brother’s and wouldn’t give it back.
Bakugou kept scrolling through pictures and videos. A good portion of their life was posted on Kirishima’s page, the same page he’s had since middle school. He stopped at another video, pressing play almost immediately and receiving a wave of “aww.”
It was a video of a kitten with bright green eyes wrapped up in an old Crimson Riot shirt that younger Kirishima instantly recognized. Older Kirishima was giving Bakugou, who was sitting in their living room chair reading a book with black-rimmed glasses on, the puppy-dog eyes that he gives him when he wants something.
“C’mon, dude, you can’t say ‘ no’ to this face!” A voice came from behind the phone that was pointed at Kirishima with his lip out.
“Look at him! Him’s just a baby, Kats! You can’t say no to a baby!” Kirishima held the bundle of kitten out and it let out a little, squeaky cry in his face.
“No,” Bakugou’s eyes flicked from the cat back down to the book he was reading.
“Please? I promise I’ll take care of him! You won’t even have to clean his litterbox!” Kirishima whined, cuddling the kitten to his chest as he begged his, then fiancé, to house the cat.
After a minute more of Kirishima’s pleading, Bakugou glanced up, looking over what he could see of the small creature.
“You taking him to get his balls cut off too so he won’t spray?” Bakugou asked, trying to stay as detached from the animal as possible.
Kirishima gasped and looked down at the bundle, huffing out, “that’s not very manly.”
“If he’s staying, it’s getting done. Guessing he’s a street cat, so he also needs a flea bath and vet appointment to get all his boosters; you getting all that done too?” Bakugou asked, putting his bookmark in and laying the book on the table beside him with his glasses folded on top.
“I can take him to the vet up at the shelter! While he’s getting checked out, I’ll get all the stuff for him too!” Kirishima perked up at Bakugou’s words, knowing that he was caving.
“Do they take walk-ins?” Bakugou asked.
“I dunno, I’ll look up their number and give ‘em a call. Does that mean we can keep him?” Kirishima excitedly asked, knowing that he’d already won.
“Go start the water in the sink for a bath while you call. Give ‘em here.” Bakugou sighed as he held out his hands.
Kirishima happily did just that, handing the screaming ball of fur over to the man who he knew would take good care of him. As soon as he got him, Bakugou told Kirishima to get the dish soap and take it into the bathroom because the kitten’s fur was literally crawling with bugs.
Unfortunately for him, Bakugou got bit by what looked to be every flea on the cat as he tried to pick off and drown as many as he could while his other half was getting the water to the perfect temperature.
“Y’know, you could help instead of just sitting there! And stop fuckin’ recordin’ me!” Bakugou lashed out at the person behind the phone, now recording him while watching from the couch.
The video stops there and Bakugou swipes over, showing them the pictures posted with the video of a sopping wet kitten not enjoying his flea bath.
“Tiger Shark, ‘cause his coat looks like their pattern,” Bakugou answered when asked what his name is.
He went up a few posts and found a few pictures of “Sharkie” when he was clean and dry to show off how his husband came up with the name. He’s light gray with darker gray stripes and a cream-colored belly. One of the pictures was him sleeping on his back and his top two fangs sticking out. The next picture over was taken seconds later of the same shot, but two big green eyes staring straight at the camera. The last photo in the collection was of Bakugou sleeping under a blanket on the couch with the cat laying on his shoulder, against his neck asleep too.
While they were all talking and still berating him with questions, Kirishima’s alarm on his phone started going off. He asked Bakugou if he wanted to train with him since his Bakugou always does in one of the gyms at the same time every day, which is what the alarm was for. Still being Bakugou, he easily agreed and a few others tell the duo that they want to watch how he fights compared to his younger self.
It didn’t come as a shock when the older man absolutely dominated their training. He was even more skilled than the one they go to school with, having been a pro for years now. Bakugou was throwing out moves that none of them had ever seen from their classmate. The team practiced together until their teacher decided to call off their third fight once Kirishima got hit hard enough to knock him out of the boundaries they had discussed, not wanting either of them to actually get hurt since they have different experience levels now and Recovery Girl wasn’t on stand by. While walking back, they started talking about the older pair's workout routine and techniques.
They were both heading to the boys’ shower area as Aizawa told the older man that he’d get him a clean set of clothes, which Bakugou declined. He told him he’d just put on a pair of baggy ones he had, hoping they’d fit so he wouldn’t change back to his younger self and wonder how a pair of his teacher’s clothes wound up on his body. The pair redirected their destination to their rooms to get post-shower clothes. Bakugou dug out the clothes he knew he kept for when he was having really touch-sensitive days; clothes that would hang off his body 3 sizes too big to get rid of the claustrophobic feeling like they were constricting him. Fortunately for the man holding them up, they were a little tighter than the size he would wear on a lazy day at home; when the only one caring about his clothes would be his youngest after spending too much time with her Baba.
Side by side, they got undressed to wash all the sweat off. As Bakugou took off his shirt, Kirishima noticed a tattoo on his chest in the exact place the older version of himself had one; over his heart. It was the only tattoo on the man, that he could see with only his shirt off at least. Bakugou had an outline of Kirishima’s famous pose with the words “unbreakable horse” in all caps tattooed on the sides of his forearms in his full hardened state, making the words look like rocks that just took a hard blow. While he was studying that, Bakugou had caught on that he had been looking at him and turned to give him a better view. As Kirishima was about to apologize for staring, his eyes locked on something else.
The arm in Bakugou’s left hand was completely detached from his body.
As Kirishima panicked and screamed “oh, my God! Are you okay?! Hold on, I’ll go get Recovery Girl!” Bakugou could only laugh.
“I’m fine, dummy! You see any blood anywhere?” Bakugou cackled, loud and ugly but Kirishima could listen to it for hours… if he wasn’t currently still having a minor panic attack. “It happened years ago, not when we were just sparring; don’t worry.” He assured him as he laid the prosthetic in the locker.
“But it looks so…” Kirishima cut his own observation off with an unsure glance back to meet its owner’s eyes.
“Real?” He supplied for him, getting a confirmation nod. “Bionics have come a long way to get it to look like that; it even tans like a regular arm would. When it’s on, I can feel and still use my quirk like I can with this one,” he said as he held up his left arm.
“How- what happened?” Kirishima asked as he tried not to stare at the arm that had been severed at his elbow.
“Told ya, shitty villain that don’t give 2 fucks about our lives.” He said as he pointed to the heavily scarred right side of his face, tying all the damage on his right side together as one massive attack.
“Does it… hurt?” Kirishima asked, looking like he immediately wanted to take back the question.
“Does your scar hurt?” Bakugou asked as he raised an eyebrow, knowing the answer.
As he was stumbling over his words, Bakugou started walking to the stools.
“I worked my ass off to make it my own. Took a lot of time, but I did it!” Bakugou told him all about the painstaking process of physical therapy he had to go through to get used to his new arm while they showered side by side.
Once they finished and got dressed, dinner had been started. Since no one could decide on dinner, they settled on making a few types of hot pots to appease everyone. Bakugou decided to make the one he knew Kirishima loved, not that there was much he wouldn’t eat. Bakugou was well aware that he was the picky eater of the two, which actually worked well for him since he preferred to cook for the family while his husband occupied the kids enough to keep them out of his kitchen.
“Tuck your fingers,” Bakugou corrected Kirishima’s hands for him, showing him how to properly julienne thin sticks of carrot so they were even and he had less of a risk of cutting himself.
“So, Kacchan, in the future, who’s agency do you work at?” Midoriya asked as he worked on tending to the pot his group chose to make.
“Katsuki and we opened our own as soon as we were able, but I worked at Mirko’s when I graduated until then,” Bakugou told him.
As they were cooking, the frequent questions started again. Every now and then, he would get annoyed with how many he was getting, but knowing how kids are from how many questions he got asked on a daily basis while raising his own, he answered the vast majority. They even remarked on just how patient he was, not yelling at them or completely dodging their questions like a “normal parent would.” Bakugou told them that they always did that; that if their kids were curious about something, it would be more beneficial to tell them truthfully so they had the information for future reference than to blow them off because they were “too young.”
When asked what they would tell them when their kids talked about “inappropriate” things, he explained that they never backed down from those either. The couple taught all three kids to not be embarrassed when talking to them about anything, including their own bodies. Something only one of the men were taught growing up, was that alone time is very important when it comes to body exploration. He gave the example of when their oldest was going through puberty, he told them that he used one of the pads kept under the sink that they keep on hand for anyone that needs them, then told his parents after that he had started bleeding. They had explained a day or two prior that the random cramps he had been feeling would probably be a result of his first period, explaining what was happening to his body and how to mitigate his biological ailment.
Bakugou was asked what the weirdest phase any of their three went through was. He chuckled as he explained how, even though it was normal for them to be clingy and curious, they had to make a knock-and-wait-for-permitted-entry rule for any closed door because all three of them have accidentally walked in on them while going to the bathroom and having sex. All of their children were taught this, but it doesn’t mean they always followed it. Their youngest loved walking in on people when they were using the bathroom, something they thankfully broke her of.
“We taught them to not use the cutesy terms; his moms said it helps deter pedo’s from snatchin’ ‘em and makes it less awkward for them to talk to us when somethin’s wrong. So every time I’d go to take a piss, she’d open the door and point at my dick and ask: ‘daddy’s penis?’ Or if I was shitting, she’d take a whiff and say: ‘OOOH! Daddy’s a ‘tinky butt!’ Which is what Eiji would always say when he changed a shitty diaper.” He chuckled as he retold the memories.
“What’s the one thing that, if you had the chance to do differently, you would?” He was asked, which made him stop and think.
“Besides telling this one that me taking him with me to I-Island right after the sports festival our first year was a fuckin’ date ?” He looked over at Kirishima who rubbed the back of his neck and told him he never put two-and-two together before now. “Honestly, I wish I would’ve sucked up my pride and apologized to Izuku years before I did. You didn’t deserve all the shitty, asshole things I said or did to you all growing up.” He apologized.
“Wow, t-thanks, Kacchan!” Midoriya stumbled over his words.
"It's fuckin' Katsuki! We've been over this! Don't make me take it back!" He growled.
“Hey, Kirishima, do you have any green onions left?” Satou asked while tending to his pot near them.
“How many you need?” Bakugou asked in tandem of his younger husband answering: “sure, dude!”
They stopped and looked at each other as everyone else started laughing, no one expecting both of them to answer to his last name. Bakugou told Kirishima to give Satou the handful they had that wasn’t chopped up as he tasted what he’d been making. He smiled at the taste being just as good as he always makes it, having perfected it over the years of dinners they’ve shared. As soon as Kirishima showed up at his side, eyes shining with greed when he saw the spoon in his hand, Bakugou grabbed another and cooled it for him before feeding him like he would when the same look happened in their home.
“That’s delicious, Bakugou!” Kirishima complimented.
“Haven’t heard you call me that for years! It’s always Kats, Katsu, ‘Suki, Katsuki, and any number of pet names, but not Bakugou. Sounds weird now,” he admitted.
“Sorry, I’m still used to calling you by your last name. Would you prefer I called you Katsuki?”
“Uh, yeah , as you should . Just ‘cause you ain’t with me in your time yet, don’t mean you get to treat me like any other extra.” Bakugou scoffed, sounding more like the boy they interacted with on a daily basis instead of the mature man they’ve been talking to.
“Okay, future husband, Katsuki! ” Kirishima smiled, bashful blush tinted his neck as he tried to rub it away. “So who asked who anyway? Was it you or me?”
“There were many dates that you didn’t get that’s what they were and invited people to come with us, then there was the island… but I did.” Bakugou told him.
“Wait, so all the festival meet-ups were dates too?!” Kirishima asked, receiving a nod. “So that’s why you were mad when there were other people with us? That makes so much sense now!”
“I told you to pack a bag and we were going hiking alone . I made bentos and we were supposed to eat up on my favorite trail, but it ended up storming really hard up there so we ended up under the tree in the park; same one we got married under.” Bakugou explained as he dished out a few bowls of his hot pot.
“Awwe! A picnic in the rain, how romantic! Didn’t know you were such a love, Blasty!” Ashido playfully teased.
“Weren’t you listenin’? It wasn’t raining in the park, which is why we ate there! I never liked the rain; not until I had kids. A good thunderstorm, curled up under the blanket with one of us, always put ‘em right to sleep.” Bakugou corrected as he walked with everyone to sit at the table.
“You sound like a great daddy, dude!” Kaminari told him, hoping it didn't come off as condescending; he was only trying to compliment the older blonde.
“Damn right, I am!” Bakugou agreed as he started eating.
The whole group chatted over the tapping of spoons in dishes while they enjoyed their dinners. Once they finished eating, the class appointed dish duty of the day got to washing everything as it was being brought into the kitchen. Everyone agreed that they should watch a movie together, but Bakugou was already ready to head to bed; not because he was tired, but because he was well over his social interactions for the day.
He went to use the bathroom before he headed up to his room and was stunned to see a hero he never thought he would again.
"Bakug-" All Might tried to get out before he was tackled into a tight hug by the man.
A choked-off sob of, "you're alive!" Was all he got out before the burn in his throat made him stop.
The damaged man's arms wrapped around the younger of the two and held him as he soaked his shirt with tears.
He didn't have to ask what he meant, he knew he wouldn't last long enough to see his students grow old themselves. He could feel it in his bones that he might not even make it to their graduation, but he didn't have the heart to ask if they were right or not. It pained him to see one of his most successful students silently bawl in his frail arms.
The rest of the class watched the scene before them. Kirishima was the first to try and speak up, asking if there was anything he could do to help or if they should just give the two a minute. All Might told him that it was okay, letting him know that he just needed to get out what he was feeling.
Bakugou got himself calmed down and told the man that his death was really hard on him. It had become a national holiday and everyone celebrated his honor each passing year. The first year he wasn't with them anymore, Bakugou refused to take the day off with his former classmates; not even Kirishima could get him to call off to grieve with the group. When he'd gotten home from a double shift, Kirishima was waiting up for him even though he had work in the morning. As much as he wanted to bottle it up, something about Kirishima never let him. He lovingly listened as Bakugou wet his shirt the same way he did the man he'd been crying over.
All Might stayed for the movie, asking his former student a plethora of questions about the future. He perked up significantly when he found out a few grow to have families of their own, something he never got the pleasure to do outside of mentoring Midoriya and, to a lesser degree, the rest of the class. Bakugou showed him pictures of his and Kirishima's children, as well as group photos of the other kids with the parents. He told him he had grown up handsomely and that he was glad he had a bright future ahead of himself, though sad he'd never be able to meet any of their children himself.
After the movie, Bakugou decided that it was definitely time for bed. Kirishima went with him, offering to hang out with him alone for a while until it was actually his designated bedtime. He agreed and they sat talking on Kirishima's bed for a while.
"So why did we wait so long to get married? That video looked like it wasn't too long ago, but you said we proposed on our graduation day." Kirishima asked as he was looking through his social media on Bakugou's phone.
"We wanted to have everything in order; the house, the kids, not have to worry about work or the press," Bakugou answered.
He explained how they took 2 weeks off for their honeymoon and brought all 3 kids with them so they could enjoy the trip too since neither of them really got to spend a lot of time together with or without the kids, being some of the biggest pros in the business. They were both usually on the leaderboards somewhere, which made it hard to go anywhere without getting bombarded with fans or paparazzi. They took the kids out to an island that their friends recommended to them, letting both of them know that it is ONLY for heroes and their immediate families. To go, you have to book a reservation and they send people out to pick everyone up. You board a private plane and get flown to the island where they check your passports and hero badges once more to ensure that you’re who you say you are and get checked into the resort they’d be staying at. Knowing who they were when they called and being told that it would be their honeymoon with the kids, they were put into their own beach house. It was a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house that even came with its own chef and maid so they wouldn’t have to do any work on their trip. He showed him pictures, telling him how everyone had the best time and how they were all sad to leave.
While still alone talking, Bakugou tells him about the time he came home from an exhausting day at work. He walked through the door while Kirishima and their youngest were sitting on the couch, her sitting in his lap as he's reading aloud to her. As Bakugou's taking off his shoes, she goes "hey, babe! How was your day?" It's what his husband says every time he comes home, her getting the routine of his schedule down and how they interact. Bakugou went and picked her up from her Daddy's lap and told her he's happy to be home. As he was retelling the memory, younger Kirishima teared up, saying he loved hearing how fluffy and domestic they were once they got older.
"It sounds so amazing! I can't wait for us to grow old together, Katsuki." Kirishima smiled at him as he handed his phone back with a yawn.
"Couldn't agree more," he smiled and yawned too.
Bakugou shared that he wasn’t able to sleep alone, always needing his husband home with him to sleep well, so Kirishima offered to share his bed with him. It took everything in him to turn him down because he didn't want to accidentally mess up the future if his younger self woke up sleeping against his best friend.
Bakugou gently tilted his head up and kissed the scar over Kirishima’s right eye before pecking his forehead, reflexively telling him “night babe, I love you.” It made Kirishima tear up, but he said it back as Bakugou was heading out to try and sleep alone for the first time in years.
They woke up like any other day, not even remembering that Bakugou had revealed so much of the future the day prior. Something older Bakugou chose to keep a secret was what exact day they confessed to each other, a day that came not even a week later.
