Work Text:
Miu stared at the clock. 3 more minutes and she would finally be done with this stale as hell lecture. Physics class bored the hell out of her; she already knew all the material – probably even better than the teacher – so she did not get why she had to sit through all of it like her inferior-minded classmates. Her eyes shot to the clock once more. 2 more minutes and she would finally be able to spend the rest of her day in her lab away from everyone.
After what felt like forever, the excruciatingly long minutes were finally up. The class was dismissed and Miu started to get her stuff together so she could leave this second-rate crowd of people around her. Before she was able to stand up though, she spotted a hand lightly touch down on the corner of her desk. Her eyes followed the arm upward and were met with purple ones looking back.
The arm belonged to Kaede Akamatsu, one of the few people in their class that was actually nice to Miu. If anyone in the class were to approach her for anything, she supposed Kaede would be one of the better ones. Miu and her dont talk often, the former always mocking Kaede’s spiel about the whole class being friends . It was stupid anyway, friends were for cucks who couldn’t do anything on their own, and Miu was anything but that. Still though, she figured she could grace Kaede with the pleasure of talking to THE Miu Iruma for a minute. She did have a great rack too.
“What do you want?” Miu told her, sounding way more annoyed than she intended. Kaede’s face flashed a quick frown before switching into her trademark soft smile.
“Hey Miu, I was hoping you could help me with that last practice problem. Shuichi and I keep getting different answers and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.” Kaede offered her notebook to Miu. “You always seem to know what you're doing…”
Miu took a look at Kaede’s notebook. One glance at the pianist's work and she saw the glaring issue, something so obvious she couldn’t help but snicker. Sure, she could help, but she also wanted to bother the girl for wasting her time.
She crossed her arms in an effort to emit an air of arrogance. “I see your problem, but my help isn’t free,” Miu paused, thinking about what to follow up with.
“In exchange for my services you’ll have to get on your knees and beg!” It’s not like Miu actually expected her to, she just wanted to get out of having to explain the problem and- holy shit she's actually doing it.
Kaede was on her hands and knees in front of the inventor's desk, “Please Miu? I really need your help with this!” Miu’s eyes darted around the room. Not everyone had left yet so Kaede’s odd display was obviously attracting stares. It was incredibly embarrassing (and also a bit of a turn on), Miu had no choice but to give in.
“Fine, fine! I’ll help with the stupid question! Just get off the floor god dammit!” Miu’s face was flushed red by the pianist’s act, she had no clue if it was from embarrassment or arousal. “Fuckin’ sadist,” she mumbled.
Kaede shot up from off the ground, “Thanks, Miu!”
“Were you getting off on that shit?” Miu looked at Kaede’s notebook one more time, not missing how the girl moved to look over her shoulder. “Your problem is you mixed up the slope of a position versus time graph with the slope of a velocity versus time graph. The slope of a position versus time is velocity, but you thought it was acceleration.” Miu turned her head to Kaede behind her, the latter girl nodding along to everything she said. “Really fucks with the equations when you can’t get the variables right.”
Kaede grabbed her notebook back, eyes scanning over her work before a look of understanding washed across her face. “Oh, I get it now! Thank you so much!”
Miu’s face flushed red once again at the praise. She tried to brush it off, “It was a simple problem, hell a 3 year old probably could’ve done it.”
“I really mean it though, I don’t think I ever would have noticed the mistake.” Kaede’s eyes broke off from her notebook to meet Miu’s. “You really are a gorgeous girl genius like you always say.” The pianist’s cheeks tinged with light pink.
The inventor’s eyes went wide. She sputtered out a few questionable noises before continuing. “O-of course I'm all those things!” She puffed up her chest in a faux show of bravado. “And don't you ever forget that!”
“I don’t think I could ever forget.” Kaede smiled at her and moved back in front of Miu’s desk.
“G-great…” Miu felt her heart racing. Kaede was really laying it on thick with the compliments, Miu didn’t know how much more she could take before her heart bursts – not that she's into any of that sappy shit or anything! It was only out of pure embarrassment and Kaede’s lack of shame! The great Miu would never crumble under such trivial feelings.
She tried to regain some composure. “S-so,” she cleared her throat before restarting, “So did you do all that groveling and shit just for one measly question? Or was it some sexual fantasy?”
Kaede’s smile faltered. “It wasn’t for any sexual purposes, no, but I was hoping to ask you for more help than just that one question.” Her eyes didn’t exactly meet Miu’s, being averted to some degree. “There's a few more concepts I'm having trouble with. I was thinking maybe we could meet up in the school library one day and go over them?” Kaede adjusted her footing apprehensively before continuing, “If you come with, I promise to pay you back for it any way I can.” Her eyes widened when she remembered who she was talking to. “I promise to pay you back in any reasonable way.”
Miu was ready to reply with a big fat “No,” but instead took a second to think it over. The praise she received for solving the simple problem was nice – not that she'd ever admit it – and that combined with the begging definitely gave her some fantasies to think about later. The cut into her inventing time would for sure be a negative, but so far it was looking like the pros were outweighing the cons.
Miu grinned. “If you are so desperate for my presence I suppose I could grace you with it. My time is valuable so you better be willing to do anything in return for it!’ She figured she might as well try and get the most out of it that she can.
Kaede appeared unphased by Miu’s negotiation, only looking happy from the acceptance. “How does Saturday at 2 sound?” Her soft smile was back in all its charm. The way she was looking at Miu made the inventor's face burn. She swore she was going to pop a blood vessel if she hadn’t already with what Kaede was doing to her.
“Sounds good I guess,” Miu affirmed.
“Great! It’s a date then!” Kaede spoke before swiftly leaving the classroom. Miu probably would have noticed the pianist’s similarly red face if she wasn’t so caught up with what she heard.
A date? A date?!? Kaede just asked her out on a date?! Did she still even want to go? Miu entertained the idea for a moment. Kaede undeniably just proved herself worthy of her time, such as the praise and kindness that Miu usually didn't receive when talking to others given all by Kaede just then. Physics was also her specialty, so she would probably even have fun working through problems with Kaede. Not to mention Miu found Kaede to be the hottest person in their class – behind her of course – so that was another plus. The more she thought it over, the better the idea of a date with Kaede sounded.
There was no one else left in the classroom, so there were no witnesses to Miu’s face settling into a soft and genuine smile from her thoughts.
A date, huh?
Miu decided she had something new to look forward to besides inventing, and got up to leave the classroom.
