Chapter Text
It was a known fact that Ushijima Wakatoshi was a calm yet solemn man. He didn't find it necessary to constantly speak, nor to try and charm every person that crossed his path. He didn't find interviews to keep his reputation favorable necessary. At twenty seven years old, his only focus was to win the next game and to satisfy and care for his wife. Two abnormally different things that were easy to do, for the most part.
However, to his soon disdain, he'll learn that there's some things- or people- who will make his simplistic goals hard to manage, pulling tight on the strings that holds him together.
"Toshi?" Ushijima looked up to the sight of his wife, whom was rubbing the sleep from her eyes while wearing one of his practice shirts that seemed to engulf her. Smiling softly at the beautiful sight, he put down the chopsticks he was using in favor to wrap his wife in a warm embrace. The feeling of her arms wrapping around him made his heart swell.
"What time are you leaving?" She murmured, placing her chin on his chest to look up at him. Looking down at her, he placed a small peck to her lips, chuckling at her tired smile.
"I'll be leaving in a minute. We should be done by five today."
"In that case, I'll pack a bigger lunch for you," She pulled away to head to the kitchen, pulling out containers and food to package. Sitting back down to finish his breakfast, he watched on as (Y/N) bustled around the kitchen, focused on the task at hand. He loves to just look on during domestic moments like this, his wife doing something mundane that somehow enamors him with more love.
"You know," The soft tone in her voice broke his thoughts. "I was talking to my friend Yachi, from high school, and she recommended her IVF doctor. She said he was very nice and effective with their process."
She didn't bother turning to look at Ushijima, staring at the fruit she was cutting into a bowl. Ushijima stood to stand beside her, washing his bowl.
"Was their problem similar to ours?" He asked. He saw out of the corner of his eye at the way that her hand slowed with the cutting.
"Well... she told me that their problem was low sperm count, but IVF is IVF, right?" Humming in agreement, Ushijima hugged her from behind, placing his hands on her lower stomach. The knife stopped completely, and he felt her hands place over his.
"You're not mad that it's taking so long, are you?" She murmured.
Ushijima shook his head, kissing the back of her neck. "We'll take as long as needed, to make sure you're safe and so the baby will be, too." Turning her to face him, he tilted her chin up. Catching her glossy eyes, he shook his head.
"Don't worry, stress isn't good for your health." She nodded, wiping her eyes slightly, laughing as he started to sway back and forth.
"I know, I'm just sensitive, that's all, Toshi." Nodding, Ushijima gave one last peck, before going to grab his bag. He heard the patter of steps behind him, hearing his bag unzip and zip quickly.
"Don't forget to eat it all. Be safe, love." He nodded at her words, giving a goodbye kiss before heading out the door to head to the gym.
As he walked down the busy streets, he looked at his emails on his phone, setting reminders for any important interviews and the commercial he was partnered up with Kageyama for. Scratching his head slightly, he bumped into a something, grunting as he stumbled, It wasn't until he heard a small,"Ow!" Did he look down to see a woman.
Quickly, he apologized and helped her up, before continuing on his way to the gym. However, he felt a small punch to his back (nothing to hard or alarming, just a small thwap), and turning to see who it was, he was confused to see the woman he stumbled into from earlier.
"You've got some nerve, doing that to your new trainer!" She huffed, clutching her tote bag. He cocked his head in confusion, before catching sight of his gym's logo on the pocket of her shirt.
He suddenly remembered his coach mentioning new trainers were being hired to accommodate the number of players. He looked down to her as he mumbled,"My apologies." Before continuing his walk to the gym. He heard her huff again, before she fell into step beside him.
"You're Ushijima Wakatoshi, right?" She asked, nudging his arm. He ignored the contact, mutely nodding at her question.
"I'm Aiko Tachibana." He nodded, head straight ahead.
"You're as silent and stuck up as they say," He heard her grumble from beside him, but he ignored it. He had no one to impress and he certainly had nothing to say to this woman who he met moments ago.
Finally making it to the gym with the huffy woman in tow, she was quick to scurry to the trainer room, while he quickly changed and began stretching. He was stretching his legs when Bokuto took place beside him, cheery attitude already at its usual maximum capacity.
"Hey, hey, hey, UshiWaka! How's it goin' this morning? How's the wife? Had any kids yet? Is she coming to the next game? What'd she pack for lunch?" He grunted as a 'hello' back to the man, before replying,"She's in good health, thank you."
Bokuto nodded, happy with the reply, before saying his good mornings to Atsumu, taking his place beside the owl-like man.
"Neh, have you guys seen some of the new trainers? Pretty cute, ya know?" Chuckling at Bokuto's quick look around to garner a peek, he turned to Ushijima.
"You seen 'em, UshiWaka? Whatcha think about the blondie?" Atsumu cocked his head behind him, motioning towards the Tachibana, who was currently chatting with the coach.
Ushijima thought for a second to find the right words.
"That one's annoying."
-----
"How was practice?" (Y/N) asked, hands digging into his shoulders as she sat on his back, massaging him. Groaning as she dug into a hard knot below his shoulder blade, Ushijima responded with a quick,"Fine," Hands gripping the duvet covers.
"Bokuto texted me, said you met someone you found annoying. What's that about?" Letting up from the digging and just lightly scratching his back, Ushijima sighed, resting his head on his folded hands.
"A new trainer. She said I was stuck up." A small laugh was heard from behind him, and he felt her lay her chest to his back, kissing behind his ear.
"Well," She slightly rubbed his sides, and he closed his eyes at the feather light touch. "if you need to blow some steam, I think I have a perfect solution."
Turning to lie on his back, he grabbed her hips, pressing a kiss to her lips. Breaking apart, he didn't need to open his eyes to see the emotion on her face, her voice small.
"Do you think we'll get lucky this time?" He didn't reply, didn't think she wanted to him to, just simply kissed her cheeks, as she fell into him, the sheets covering them both, shielding them from the world.
