broke ass gay people propaganda

Summary:

So, I (the author) am a little gay polyamorous poet daydreaming about being with my mysteriously rugged boyfriend with a sword on the road. Meaning I am living vicariously through Dandelion at the time, and so this short little ficlet came forth!

Work Text:

When I travelled with Geralt it wasn't uncommon for us to sleep outdoors, but Geralt had been hired to find what was eating the livestock out in the countryside. Turned out to be some sort of vampire thing, Geralt had told me more as he took me to the currently empty barn but sitting there in the golden light of the rising sun I couldn't tell you anything about it as I didn't care to listen about the vampire, I only knew to stare at his beautiful face as he was for once peaceful and relaxed as he began to fall asleep while telling me all the gruesome details.

It was even more beautiful a sight when I awoke, in a glow of gold he could rest and I wanted to absorb every inch of him from his hair and the grass that had found its way into the tangled mess to his scarred skin caked in dirt and blood. He was beautiful, and it made my heart skip as his chest rose and fell. While all good things come to an end, it wasn't the end of this beautiful artwork of him when his eyes fluttered open. Instead of an end to his beauty I saw shimmering yellow eyes as he looked at me, and let himself smile for but a moment.

I must have gasped because he rolled his eyes and began to stand, glancing around the barn "Dandelion, would you like an actual breakfast?" He asked, and I leapt to my feet grinning "Absolutely I would love that! Maybe some fresh eggs mixed with milk and cheese, a little bacon, some dried fruit, a mazer of juice even!" I excitedly babbled at the prospect of more than that dried strips of  whatever was in Geralt's bag  and a handful of oats. Geralt stood and lifted a pile of disgusting flesh with a shrug as he examined it. Likely thinking of the coin he will make from it, and the cost of breakfast. "Maybe not any cheese or fruit. But you'll have eggs and bread. Definitely no honey though." he smiled at me, and I saw those beautiful golden eyes adjusting to the sunlight. I couldn't help myself at the sight of him and grinned as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, being mindful not to lean too close and touch the bag of horrific monster guts. "That's okay, your eyes are enough like honey that I won't need it." I pressed my forehead to him, and he pushed me off with an eye roll but I could see the slight grin spread across his face. "What? You know that I love you, I'm not ashamed to tell you how wonderful your beauties are! How delightful it is to see you every morning that I find it worth leaving the city life behind!" I told him and watched with amusement as he silently turned away to gather our things.

He usually did so well holding back his emotions, a skill practised from encounters with the worst people, and it was almost artful to see his facade crack under my romantic adventures. Whether it was out of amusement or genuine embarrassment, I couldn't tell though. Either way, it made my heart race as I only wished to bother him more. Maybe one day I'd embarrass him enough that he'd want to say he loves me too, but until then to simply know despite not hearing it was enough. He would be enough, it didn't matter if he wanted to admit his care for me. I knew it, and that was all that would ever matter to me.
