Work Text:
Ohm set his keys on the kitchen counter and went to get himself a glass of water. The clock above the oven glowed 18:24 at him. The condensation on the outside of the glass made it slide a few centimeters on the sweaty counter when he set it down and pulled out his phone. He’d posted some of the pics from a recent photoshoot earlier in the day and he wanted to see if people were liking them. Twitter seemed to still be talking about them, but he swiped over to Insta- he wanted to see. There! Nanon had liked them. He smiled to himself and took a sip of water, flicking through them again. He thought he looked pretty good in them, the yellow light hitting his face to create sharp angles and interesting shadows. The freckle below his left eye featured prominently in a couple of them. Nanon had said he’d liked it a couple of times, stroking over his cheek with a long thumb. As a kid, he used to be embarrassed about it, but he liked it now. Because Nanon liked it.
Just then, his phone buzzed with a text from Nanon himself.
Nanon GMM: wanna come over?
He sighed. He was exhausted. He wanted to change into sweatpants. He’d been filming for 10 Years Ticket all day, he had an event tomorrow that he didn’t really want to go to, and he had the edits to his thesis film, which he kept putting off. He wanted to sleep. But they hadn’t seen each other in a couple of days, and it was Nanon, after all.
Nanon GMM: it’s been so long since i’ve seen you. miss you
He froze. Nanon probably didn’t even remember what he said that time on stage about how to say you loved someone without saying it. But Ohm did. He remembered everything Nanon said. He could feel his heart beating extra loudly in his chest, the rush of blood past his ears. He closed his eyes and just hoped that none of his family were home to hear the pleased little hum he let out.
sure. omw
He picked his keys up off the counter, chugged the rest of the water and headed back out the door.
--
Nanon opened the door wearing loose jeans and his sleeveless black tank top. He looked good, refreshed. He’d had a couple days off after Dirty Laundry had wrapped. Ohm barely got a look at him before Nanon was dragging him into his condo with a huge smile and both arms around his neck, pulling him close. It wasn’t necessarily unexpected behavior- Nanon could be pretty clingy- but it surprised him nonetheless. He fell right into it, though, wrapping his own arms around Nanon’s waist and pulling his whole body flush against his with enough force that they almost toppled backwards into the wall of the entryway.
He smelled good. His hair was dry, but he had showered recently enough that the scent of his shampoo still enveloped Ohm as he turned his head into it. Ohm pulled away first, and busied himself by leaning down to push off his shoes while Nanon closed the door.
“What was that for?” Ohm said, giddy laughter bubbling just under the surface.
“Nothing. I told you, it’s just been awhile.” It hadn’t really- it had only been about half a week since they’d seen each other. “I thought we could watch the new Thor. You haven’t seen it yet, right?” He continued talking after Ohm shook his head and they moved into the living room, “I saw it in theaters, but it’s streaming now, and I think you’ll like it! It’s pretty funny. And it’s got really interesting aesthetics.”
Ohm nodded and sat in one corner of the couch and let him ramble for a bit about the camera work and special effects. He didn’t really care about superhero movies like Nanon did, but he liked to watch his face light up as he talked about them, and he didn’t actually care what they did tonight, either. Just hanging out was fine with him.
“I ordered some food, it should be here in about 45 minutes. I got you some pork thai basil,” Nanon waited for Ohm’s confirming nod that that was an okay food order before he sat down. Ohm’s chest hurt a little at the thought of him ordering food for him, knowing what he’d want, without asking. Nanon had seated himself on the edge of the couch, much closer than he needed to be- a whole other person could easily sit on the other side of him.
Once he had set up the movie, he set the remote on the coffee table and settled back into the couch, crossing his legs underneath him. His knee was resting fully on top of Ohm’s thigh and all of his focus narrowed to the weight and the heat of it.
“Can you get the lamp,” he said, pointing to the one next to the couch. Ohm reached up and turned it off. Nanon preferred to watch movies in pure darkness if he could, saying it added to the experience.
The movie started pretty slowly, but soon there was a big fight and Nanon was slapping his thigh and pointing out small easter eggs about the other characters that Ohm might have missed. Ohm absolutely did not care about the stupid racoon, but each slap was felt sharply. He didn’t even think Nanon realized he was doing it, but it was something Ohm had realized about himself recently. Sometimes he would goad Nanon into it by teasing him or annoying him, and he would slap his hand or arm away, and it would send shivers through him.
But he wanted to just hang out tonight, he honestly wasn’t sure he had the energy to fool around much, so he tried to refocus on the movie. The first time some goats let out a human scream, it startled him so much that he let out a surprised bark of laughter. Nanon looked back over his shoulder at him with a goofy grin and he gasped a little.
It was the look of shared amusement, the look of pride on his face that Ohm liked something that he had recommended, that made it a little hard to breathe. He looked beautiful. The pinks and yellows from the screen played over his face, highlighting his nose, one of his dimples, his chin. In the dim room, the colors reflected brightly in dark eyes that also shone with laughter.
Even after he turned back to the movie, Ohm was still frozen, staring at the side of his head. He couldn’t follow the plot very well, but he wanted Nanon to feel that pride again, so he tried to understand.
“Wait, what happened to the big hammer?” He whispered, getting the reaction he wanted as Nanon slapped the inside of his thigh again, eyes still on the screen.
“Shh, they’ll explain in a second.”
“Who’s that? Her horse is awesome!”
“Valkyrie, yeah, she’s badass.”
He gripped Nanon’s arm the first time the big shadow creatures were shown, and he didn’t say anything, so Ohm just left it there for a while, even after relaxing his grip. Several minutes later, Nanon’s phone rang and he paused the movie to let the food delivery guy up. Ohm turned on the light and cleared the coffee table so they would have room. He got up and got two bowls from the kitchen. Nanon returned and opened up container after container of food and set them down on the table, telling Ohm what was what. He opened Ohm’s pork and then set a roll from another container on top of the heaping pile before sliding it over to Ohm.
“Here that’s yours,” he said, already reaching in with his chopsticks and taking a bite from another container with chicken. Ohm rolled his eyes and picked up one of the bowls, getting some rice and some pork. Nanon was eyeing him as he dished out the food, so he added the roll into the bowl too before sitting back into the couch to eat, crossing one leg over the other.
With Nanon hunched forward over the coffee table, he could admire the broad expanse of his back, the sweep of his hair over one of his ears, the small tuft of hair poking out of the armhole of the tank top as he reached forward to fill his own bowl. Ohm chewed his food slowly.
“So I’m eating with your back?” He said playfully, banging his knee into his side. Nanon laughed and picked up his bowl so he could lean against the other arm of the couch. Bringing his socked feet up, he placed one in Ohm’s lap and tucked one under his thigh to keep it warm.
“So how is filming going? How is working with Tu?” Nanon waggled his eyebrows at him. “She’s cute. Do you like her?” He drew out the ‘like’ and nudged at Ohm’s thigh with his foot like they were gossiping schoolgirls. Ohm balanced his chopsticks in the same hand holding the bowl so he could reach down and grab his ankle, stilling the foot pushing into him, trapping it against him.
“No,” he answered a bit more seriously than he probably needed to, looking into Nanon’s eyes. He looked away quickly. “She is really great, though. A hard worker and so expressive in the scenes that sometimes I feel a bit intimidated.”
“P’Off texted me the other day and said you really impressed him in that emotional scene you shot together.” Ohm couldn’t help but sit up straighter at that. It filled him with so much pride that he couldn’t even sit still. He knew he wasn’t as good an actor as Nanon, but the fact that other people were noticing that he was working hard and improving made tears prickle at the back of his eyes. And the fact that Off had told Nanon, well- he wanted Nanon, more than anyone, to be impressed by him, and the sound of his voice said that he was. But he couldn’t let on how much that meant to him.
“What about you? Is it a relief to wrap one show so you can focus on the other?” He swallowed around the lump in his throat to ask. “And Film? Is it good to work with her again? Do you like her?” They hadn’t really hung out with Film much during My Precious; they’d all been younger and more immature and there’d been a lot of guys on set, so they had mostly hung out with each other.
“Yeah, she’s pretty cute.” Ohm nodded and fiddled with a piece of pork in his bowl, but he could feel his stomach drop. “She reminds me so much of Nonnie, so it was nice having her around. Actually, Nonnie came to set the other day and they kept ganging up on me and I’m pretty sure they exchanged line IDs. Film likes her way more than me.” He jerked his head to the side to crack his neck and laughed like he hadn’t just said the one thing that would allow Ohm to resume breathing normally. “But it is a relief to be done, honestly. I finally got a full night's sleep two days in a row.”
He said it with a touch of irony and Ohm knew how hard falling asleep could be for him. His hand was still on his ankle, so he stroked his thumb over it to show that he understood what he meant. Nanon smiled at him and leaned forward to put his empty bowl on the table.
“Should we keep watching the movie?” Ohm nodded and placed his bowl on the table, too, leaning back and stretching his arms along the back of the couch. He yawned. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could last, honestly.
Nanon knee-walked his way across the couch and placed a hand right in the middle of Ohm’s chest as he leaned most of his weight on him to reach past him and turn off the lamp again. This time when he settled in and pressed play, his back was completely pressed against Ohm’s side, in the space created under his arm.
They watched quietly now. Ohm was warm and full and the plot didn’t make much sense and he could still smell Nanon’s shampoo. Nanon also wasn’t saying anything, wasn’t pointing out any interesting tidbits or action shots, like he was afraid to break the silence. Eventually, he reached up and pulled Ohm’s hand off the back of the couch and down over his shoulder, fiddling with Ohm’s fingers as he pressed even further into his side. Ohm held his breath.
That’s how they watched for several long minutes, both held in silence and not wanting to ruin it. During a quiet moment in the movie, Nanon looked back at him and reached one of his big hands across to clasp the side of his face, pulling it towards him. Ohm saw his eyes flick down to his lips and back up. He wasn’t sure why Nanon was hesitating- they hooked up all the time. But he didn’t want to make a move that could burst the bubble, so he tipped his head to the side and furrowed his eyebrows in question.
That seemed to be enough, and Nanon was leaning towards him, pressing their mouths together. It felt more gentle than Ohm was used to. Normally they came together in a clash of lips and hands, urgent and demanding. This felt like Nanon was being careful, somehow. It was like he was cradling his face in his hands, cherishing him, and Ohm didn’t know how to react. He pulled away, forcing a smile on his face.
“What about the movie? I want to know how Jane is.” Nanon rolled his eyes and pressed pause on the remote without looking at it. And then he was back, swinging a leg over both of Ohms’ so that he was sitting in his lap. His hands once again found the sides of Ohm’s face and he held them there, caressing his cheeks. He slouched down to place himself firmly in Ohm’s eyeline and held eye contact as he slowly leaned forward again.
It started off relatively chaste, but soon Nanon was probing at his closed lips, sucking the bottom one into his mouth and worrying it between his teeth. He sat further up on his knees and leaned forward, tipping Ohm’s head back onto the couch as he slipped his tongue into his mouth. Ohm greedily sucked it in and pushed back, gripping the back of his head.
The chuckle in the space between their mouths as Nanon pulled back slightly surprised an answering chuckle from him, and soon they settled into a more languid pace, not feeling the need to push tonight. Ohm was just happy to be here, sharing space with him, touching him. So he slid his hands up the back of his black shirt and just rested them on the soft warm skin at his waist.
Nanon once again wrapped both arms around his neck, hugging him tightly, and scooted forward so that they could be touching as much as they could possibly touch in this position. Ohm rubbed his hands slowly up and down Nanon’s sides as they made out unhurriedly, just drinking each other in. They moved like that for a good while, until Ohm felt his legs going slightly numb. He pulled away and Nanon leaned their foreheads together.
“You know, I’m a good photographer.”
“What?”
“I have a nice camera and did all that research and practice with it for SLR. I could take some pictures of you if you wanted.” Even though his eyes were centimeters away from Ohms’, he was looking off to the side. “I mean, you do a lot of photoshoots to post on social media, and I could do one for you, too. You could model for me, and not for,” he paused, “not for other people.”
Ohm laughed and Nanon reared back, a fake affronted look on his face.
“Ai! I’m serious. I know all of your best angles, and how to make you relax and look hot.” That was true, Ohm supposed.
“Well that’s not that hard,” Ohm bragged. Nanon rolled his eyes but didn’t disagree. He thought about it, imagined what it would be like. Nanon would tell him what to do, how to move, how to look. He might even physically move him into different positions. That did sound appealing.
“Yeah, okay.”
“Really? Okay?” Nanon looked excited and like he was already making plans.
“Yes, okay. I want you to,” he smiled up at him, and then yawned. “But not tonight? I’m pretty tired.”
“Sure, of course.” Nanon gave him a quick peck on the lips before standing up. Ohm tried to rub some feeling back into the tops of his thighs. Nanon started clearing containers and bowls off the table. Ohm wasn’t sure if he should help or if he should start to head out. It didn’t seem like they were going to finish the movie and Nanon probably wouldn’t want him to sleep here if they weren’t going to hook up. He had such a hard time sleeping already. Ohm stood.
“You can borrow some pants,” Nanon said over his shoulder as he threw some paper plates away.
“What?”
“To sleep in.” Nanon whipped his head around and cracked his neck, looking a bit at a loss for what to say. “You’re going to sleep here, right? I changed the sheets before you came so that they’d be nice and crisp.”
“Oh, sure. Yeah of course.”
He could always work on the edits to his thesis project tomorrow.
