"Happy birthday Love," Sue Snell whispered.
The morning before the celebration, she had given a call to Tommy, Chris, and Norma. After so long, it felt so relieving that life wouldn't be like they dreamt of back at Ewen. She wasn't the bitchy popular girl anymore and Chris had broken up with Billy the week before graduation, the guy never to be seen again. Sue and Tommy didn't end up becoming high school sweethearts and marrying each other, but other than that nothing changed as he was still the sweetest man Sue had ever met. And as for Norma, well.. she was still Norma. Not the obnoxious, passive aggressive girl in high school, but the fun party-going Norma that she always knew.
The conversations with them each concluded a 'how are you doing in your life now?', looking back into the past, and a conversation about their little buddy Carrie.
After calling them, she had baked Carrie a simple pink fondant covered cake that had vanilla flavoring. Sue also bought a bouquet of white roses from the nearest shop from her house, which is what she always got Carrie for her birthday.
"I know it's not a lot but," She sighed. "If you were here, I would've thrown you the most beautiful surprise party."
She slowly put down the flowers on Carrie's grave, which was covered in some moss, cracks and faded red paint. It was also misty due to the grass. But Sue always managed to clean it no matter what.
After a while, Sue finishes the small cake and plants a kiss on the framed photo of the two.
"I miss you, Carrie White. In every universe, I'm out there making everything up to you. I promise."
