Work Text:
It was a cool summer night. The sky was clear and stars sparkled like diamonds over the small meadow not far from the nearest country road.
Juan, Abbi, and Tilda all lay on a blue picnic blanket with daisies. All three stared up at the sky.
“Does anyone here feel...relaxed?” Juan asked without taking his eyes off the stars.
“It's surprisingly peaceful,” admitted Abbi.
"It's so strange to see the starry sky outside of the city," Tilda added. “In the city, if you're lucky, you'll see a handful of little white dots, but here's a whole sea of these things. I think this is the first time I've ever seen the Milky Way."
The other two silently agreed with the banshee. It was a sight to behold.
"Oh my God!" called Abby. "I just saw a shooting star!"
"Come on! Make a wish!” prompted Tilda.
Abbi closed her eyes and concentrated on her wish. When she opened them again, a wide grin graced her lips.
"What did you wish for?" asked Juan.
"The wish won't come true if I tell!"
"I hope your wish has something to do with food," adds Tilda. "I'm starving."
“We passed a convenience store on the way here. It's maybe a twenty-minute walk,” Juan noted.
Tilda groaned in frustration, but before she could say anything, a dozen small shooting stars sizzled in the sky followed by a particularly large shooting star.
"Wow!" all three shouted in unison. Followed by silent admiration.
“Tell me, when is Burk coming to pick us up?” asked Abby.
Juan looks at his cell phone. It was just after midnight. “We called her forty minutes ago. She should be here in ten or fifteen minutes. Provided she finds us."
Tilda looked over at her car, which was blazing. "I think she will find us without any problems."
