"Dust. When was the last time you brushed your hair?"
Dust blinked at Error, tilting their head a little. There was a beat of silence before they shrugged. Error visibly tensed up.
"Yeah that's stopping right now. Stay here, I need to get some stuff." He slid off his little hammock and rushed out of the room, leaving Dust more confused than before. It didn't take the man too long to return, though, arms full of various brushes and hair products.
"Okay so listen," Error started, sitting down in front of the smaller person and putting the various items on the floor. "I am about to do you the biggest favor of your entire life, so I'll need you to, 1, not question me, and 2, sit still. Got that?" Dust nodded slowly. They didn't know something like this mattered so much to the destroyer… Though they probably should've guessed after they watched him throw a tantrum after Dream accidentally shot off a bunch of his locs last year.
Error wasted no time in getting to work. The other was never exactly fond of touch, which is why Dust was surprised at how hands-on he was about this. They don't think they've ever had their head jerked around so much in their life. But despite how rough Error had to be to get out all the knots, it was weirdly calming. When was the last time they'd been cared for like this? They couldn't even remember. They definitely didn't care for themselves much either, as much as the gang protested.
It also felt nice to be the only person at the center of Error's attention. Them, a lowly human with messy hair and pale skin that puts copy paper to shame, being cared for by the destroyer of worlds… It was nice. It was flattering. They aren't sure when it started happening, but they'd started wanting to be around Error more and more lately. Killer had asked if they were dating once and Dust still thought about that. Had they really seemed that close? That affectionate?
Error moved to Dust's side, working through the knots the best he could without just ripping their hair out. They were pleasantly surprised to realize the other was wearing his glasses now, the red frames adorning his face wonderfully. Maybe they were closer than typical friends were, but Dust didn't mind. Whatever they were, they knew they didn't want it to end, and that's all that matters.
"Looks like we'll have to cut some of your hair, hope you don't mind."
They take it all back, this sucks.
