Chapter Text
He was sitting next to his twin sister, kicking the desk leg with his black Chuck Taylors, drawing some doodles when he heard the teacher saying his sister’s name.
“Leia Organa and Itzio Apa.” The teacher pointed at Leia “You better work hard Organa, you need a good grade in this assignment, I’m serious.” Leia smiled showing her teeth, Luke snorted looking at her sideways, he knew her very well and he knew she was sporting her famous fake smile.
When the teacher looked down Leia’s face went serious as she flipped him off, Luke clicked his tongue caressing her temple with his knuckles, he smiled softly when she started writing on the back of his free hand.
Luke frowned trying to read what his sister wrote “Love-ya”.
He chuckled just in time the teacher spoke again “Luke Skywalker and Din Djarin.”
Luke was surprised, he has never talked to that boy, Din, he started looking around to find him.
Din was three desks away from him and Leia, Luke stared at him with wide eyes, the boy nodded at him and kept reading his book, Luke raised one eyebrow and tried to focus on his doodles again, but he couldn’t.
Leia laughed and elbowed him.
“What?”
“Dark eyes, dark hair, hot bod, hmm…” She whispered “Maybe we should do a swap, gimme the hottie and you get that bitch Itzio.”
Luke grimaced ducking his head and kept doodling, ignoring Leia.
“Alright class of 85, this is your last assignment, you better work like there’s no tomorrow.” The teacher said while the kids started leaving the classroom.
Luke was glued to his chair.
“Hey, Luke! Are you coming?” Leia yelled at him, standing by the door, Luke looked up at her only to find Din squeezing his body against Leia’s in order to exit the classroom.
Leia didn’t even flinch, Din looked down at her and then he cast a glance at Luke before leaving. Luke nodded at her sister who was still on the spot waiting for him.
“Fuck Luke, he even smells good, can we swap, pretty please?” She said when Luke joined her. Luke shook his head smiling.
“So he smells good, huh?” He joked and walked down the corridor wrapping his arm around his sister’s shoulders.
“Like a man should smell! Yes!” She chuckled.
“Don’t let Han hear you saying that.” She bursted into laughter.
They walked towards the parking lot where Han was waiting for Leia resting against a wall, bot hands on his hips, he always looked so badass.
Luke pressed his lips together when Leia ran into her boyfriend’s arms and they kissed like they haven’t seen each other for years. Luke rolled his eyes.
They said goodbye to Luke and walked away “See you at home baby brother!” Leia smiled sparkling and Luke just stayed there, lost in his thoughts.
He bit his bottom lip wondering how it would feel, being in love, being loved back. He shook his head heading towards his car, he startled when he saw Din Djarin and his friend Cara Dune waiting for him.
He tried to hide his amusement, Din was one of the popular kids and there he was, boring into his blue eyes giving him the most ridiculous dazzling smile.
“Don’t be long, okay? See you later.” Cara said to Din as she caressed his chest and kissed him on his cheek before walking away.
Luke followed her moves with his eyes and then looked away when he realized Din had been staring at him the whole time.
“Hi Luke!” The boy said with a crooked smile.
“Hi, Hi. Uh…” He said while struggling to unlock his car door.
“So, we have this assignment, and I’m free this afternoon, so, maybe we can work on it today.” Luke looked up and frowned at him, he looked serious, Din shrugged avoiding his gaze “Or maybe not, maybe you’re busy.”
“Oh no, no. I’m not.” Din looked at him again raising his eyebrows. “I mean, I’m not busy.” He considered it for a moment “Wanna come home?” He swallowed hard.
Din smiled in a pleasant way, Luke mirrored him. “Gimme your address, I need to do something before.”
Luke complied, thinking that Cara was the thing Din needed to do before. He sighed looking at Din until he got out of his sight.
~
Din was late.
Luke was eager, walking across his room. He didn’t know why, but he wanted to look good for Din Djarin. He took a shower, the end of his blonde hair was curling over his nape, he put his best shirt on, blue as the sky, and a pair of black jeans, he didn’t change his Chuck Taylors though, he loved wearing them.
Finally, he heard a long ring on the doorbell. He came down the stairs in no time, when he opened the door he noticed that Din was wearing a different outfit too and smelled like shampoo. “Hi again.” Din said.
Luke walked Din into his room, he was nervous. This was the first time that he was alone in his room with a boy he found attractive, he stood behind Din and closed the door. Din looked around, staring at Luke’s posters on the walls, he whistled and then he chuckled turning around, facing Luke “You like The Beatles?”
Luke got excited all of sudden “Yes! Do you like them too?”
“Yes, they’re my favourite band!” Din looked excited too.
Luke’s smile went wide “What if… What if our project is about them?” Din frowned. “You know, the way they influenced kids, culture and the market back in the sixties.”
Din snorted “You’re a genius, Skywalker.” He said in a husky voice that made Luke melt into a puddle.
He knew that his face was betraying him but he tried to hide the fact that Din was awakening all of his senses. He walked away and grabbed his radio cassette player. “So, uh, what’s your favourite album?”
Din didn’t hesitate “Abbey Road. Yours?”
Luke sat down on the carpeted floor, legs crossed, Din did the same, their knees were almost touching. Din ran his fingers over the pale yellow fabric and looked up at Luke’s face waiting for an answer.
Luke was enraptured by the sight of Din caressing the carpet “Please, please me.” The blonde boy whispered with dreamy eyes.
Din’s hand stopped.
“I mean, The White Album, but Please please me comes second.” Luke squeezed his eyes shut and only opened them when he heard Din chuckling.
“You’re right, they’re both good.” Din smirked. Luke could breathe again.
Luke pressed play and A hard day’s night started playing, he smiled looking up at Din, he went serious when he saw the boy was leaning forward to take his hand.
“Love-ya?” Din asked reading Leia’s handwriting on Luke’s skin. The shower didn’t erase the ink. Luke relished the warmth of Din’s skin against his. “Your girlfriend?” He asked not moving his eyes away from the blonde’s hand.
“What? No! That’s Leia’s doing, my sister.” He withdrew his hand from Din’s. “She’s like that.” He added, rubbing the letters on his skin with his fingertips.
“Oh yeah, Leia, that girl is amazing.”
“What you mean?” Luke felt uneasy “She’s dating a college guy, don’t even think about it.”
“Woah, no, no, don’t get me wrong, I mean she’s really cool, that’s all.” Din raised his hands in surrender.
They were in silence when If I feel started playing, Luke tried to fast-forward the tape. “Don’t.” Din said holding his hand tenderly “I love this song.”
Silence again.
“If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
’Ca use I’ve been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding hands”
Din was still holding Luke’s hand “This is a song about a boy who had been hurt in the past, and now he wants to know if he can trust this person, he wants to love again, but he’s afraid.” He said absently.
“I wouldn’t know.” Luke retorted.
“I do know about that.” Din released him looking around.
“Maybe we should start working, Din.” Luke tried to change the subject. Din smiled at him. “What?”
“This is the first time you say my name.”
Luke’s heart was pounding fast. Was he imagining this? Was Din touching his hand? Holding his hand? Talking about falling in love? Being happy because he said his name? Was all of this really happening?
And Din. That was such a beautiful name. So pleasant to Luke’s mouth. The way that short name scaping his lips was making him feel. The way that the name was beautiful because the boy in front of him was beautiful. Inside and out.
“Din.” Luke said again and Din was beaming.
They spent the next hours listening to Beatles’ songs, lying on the floor, singing the lyrics along.
Din was lying on his side on the floor, his head resting on his fist, staring at Luke while the blonde was singing Baby it’s you, his golden locks covering his closed eyes, his hands over his belly, his head resting on an orange cushion.
“It doesn’t matter what they say,
I know I’m gonna love you any old way.
What can I do, when it’s true.
Don’t want nobody, nobody, ‘cause baby, it’s you.
Baby, it’s you.
Don’t leave me all alone…
Come on home…”
Din couldn’t help it and brushed Luke’s hair off of his forehead with his fingers. Luke opened his eyes and froze staring at him.
“Sorry, Luke. You looked so lovely.” Din withdrew his hand and moved away sitting on the floor, he looked down and then he stood up. “It’s late, I’m going home.”
Luke felt confused but followed Din who was leaving the room.
When Luke opened the door Din was stepping out and then he came to a halt, he turned around locking eyes with Luke “I’ll see you tomorrow?”
Luke nodded. And Din was gone.
~
Two weeks passed and Din came over to Luke’s house every afternoon. More often than not they shared their time listening to music and if Luke caught Din staring at him he didn’t say a word about it. Din’s casual touches became something common and natural, to the point Luke started touching him back. The first time they intertwined fingers it felt so right that they stayed like that for a long time until Luke fell asleep.
Din’s visits didn’t stop when they finished the assignment, Luke was happy but he started feeling guilty. He wasn’t sure what was going on between them, but he always thought of Din as a straight guy, and him, well, he didn’t figure it out yet, but he certainly didn’t care about girls.
Maybe he was confusing Din, maybe he didn’t notice and he coaxed Din into liking him in a way a friend wouldn’t do. He was scared but he was also madly attracted to Din.
That Saturday afternoon Luke was staring at his posters on the wall, sitting on the floor, propping himself up on his forearms “I don’t understand why the girls are so crazy in love with Paul McCartney.” Din chuckled. “I’m serious, I mean, look at John, he’s so boyish and had this bad boy vibes, he’s a hottie…”
He trailed off, sheepishly darting a glance at Din before ducking his head hiding the redness that took over his face.
Din leaned forward “I don’t know, I’m not into bad boys.”
Luke felt even more miserable, he tried to swallow through the lump in his throat. He was being careless, he showed his true colours, what would Din think about him?
He felt Din’s soft skin against his cheek and couldn’t look up at him, he was so embarrassed that he couldn’t face him even when Din was caressing him in the most lovely way. “But you’re right he was a hottie.”
Great, now Din was trying to help him by lying about it.
“But not as hot as you are, Luke.” Din’s voice was soft and low and Luke looked up to meet his eyes this time.
“What?”
Din hissed and then he pulled away “I’m sorry, that was, uh, I’m sorry.”
“Din?” Luke moved to kneel in front of him.
Din looked nervous, his lips pressed, he avoided Luke’s face.
“Maybe I’m reading this in the wrong way, and maybe you will kick me out of your house right now but…”
“But what? Please tell me?” Luke rested his hands at both sides of Din thighs on the floor.
Din looked at his hands and then his arms, gingerly running a hand over Luke’s forearm “I want to kiss you right now, Luke.” He bored into his blue eyes like that day at the parking lot. “I want to kiss you so bad.” He repeated with cloudy eyes and a trembling voice. He looked scared but he was pleading for being kiss, and Luke couldn’t take it anymore.
He softly pressed his lips against Din’s and he felt a rush of heat running from his belly to every corner of his body. Din’s fingers found his nape and brought Luke’s face even closer, he slightly opened his mouth inviting Luke’s tongue to taste him, and Luke didn’t miss the opportunity.
They broke the kiss and stared at each other’s face, Din smiled, his eyes roaming the blonde’s face until he started kissing him again, now with more confidence and hungry to hear the little noises Luke made when their tongues tangled.
Luke rested his face against Din’s, fingers brushing his cheeks and chin “I can’t believe this is happening.” He sighed.
Din was wrapping his arms around him, cradling Luke’s body “Gosh, you’re killing me boy, I’ve never been kissed like that.” He said gasping.
Luke felt knots in his lower belly, that was surreal “That was my first kiss.” He said frowning at Din, feeling he was somehow lying about it.
Din caressed his eyebrows, trying to ease the frowning “Then you’re a natural kisser, babe.” He kissed his forehead “That was my first time kissing a boy too.”
Girls. Din only kissed girls. Luke was confused. “Cara? Is she your…” He couldn’t finish, the idea of Din and someone else broke his heart.
“A long time ago, we’re friends now.” Din said soothing his hands on Luke’s back.
Luke hummed and breathed in “What is this, Din?”
“I don’t-I don’t know, but it feels good.” He smelled Luke’s hair closing his eyes. “Please hold me, Luke, stay with me like this.”
Luke held him tight knowing that when they put a foot outside his bedroom the illusion would break.
He nuzzled Din’s neck peppering his skin with soft kisses.
Din groaned stroking his hair. “Stay like this.”
