My Beloved

Summary:

The response to Sasuke's poem/letter

Work Text:

Beloved, I miss you.
You're gone too much,
but I understand.
You wish to repent,
lost in the past.
It is the present,
the gift of now.
I hope to see you again,
when you feel like yourself
once more.

It's the end of the war.
You are free,
from everything,
but your own mind.
You are kind,
you are beautiful,
you are loved,
and you are mine.
The man I love,
the man I married.

Thing are stressful,
It’s hard being the leader.
I want it to be peaceful.
The people don’t like change,
they get hateful.
They think it’s bad,
the killing,
the death,
the sacrifices.
I want them to see
peace is the answer we need.

It’s as if they forgot,
the pain and suffering.
It’s a lot.
Too much for a child,
they don’t seem to realise.
I want them to know,
what we went through.
The hardships, and losses.
They don’t understand.

They only think of themselves.
The protection they've always needed.
It’s the past that they dwell,
not the calm future.
No war, heartache, death.
It should be gone,
but they don't think so.
Only “Train the kids”
“Make sure they know”
“Get the kids to save us”
They never think of the kids.
The pain it causes.
Kids won’t survive like us.

I’m struggling,
but I shall prevail.
It’s just you and me,
but I will make them see.
I love you with all my heart.
See you soon,
My beloved.
