Nova Thorne's Backstory

Summary:

This is the backstory for another original character of mine named Nova Thorne and is a part of my overarching story 'Tainted Souls.' Enjoy!

Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

19 years ago, Mary and Billy Thorne gave birth to their first child, Lee Thorne, in St Petersberg, Florida. Lee Thorne would go by and change their name to Nova Lee Thorne in their early teenage years.

Mary and Bill would have 4 other children after Nova. Much like the parents, all the children were mutants. Nova was by far the most powerful. What was their mutation?

They had the ability to control the weather.

Growing up, Nova’s family was extremely poor. They often went to the library or a public beach a few blocks from the apartment their family lived in.

They were not the smartest in school, but they excelled in the English and science classes they had in school.

During their trips to the Library, Nova was drawn to books about weather, weather patterns, and space. They had grown to love both of these topics to the point these topics became a comfort to Nova during rough times.

Nova had a loving family, and they were ok in school. Their mutation had remained fairly hidden as they grew up. Which was a relief to their parents.

Florida was CRAWLING with those who call themselves mutant hunters, and Mary and Bill did not want to bury their children or each other because of something they could not control.

Nova shared their love of space with their siblings and often made cardboard rocketships when possible.

Nova was an amazing big sibling and was lucky enough to have an accepting family when they came out as non-binary and Asexual.

Yet, that family would be easily broken, and it very much was in Nova’s early teens. This would be an event that broke their family and revealed their mutation and just how strong it was.
