Chapter Text
On a very dark and stormy night, there was a man that was around six foot five inches tall. He was out drinking thanks to drinking. He was stumbling on his feet and throwing up at different intervals thanks to this outing, and he isn’t seeing straight. He showed up at the temple of the three Hyrulian goddesses, but at the time no one was there. He heads in and starts praying to the gods that he believes in. He often gets ostracized for believing in the pantheon that he believed in, but he doesn't care as he often prays alone. Inside the temple, the light shows off that he was well dressed, despite his overall demeanor. His hair is charcoal black, his eyes are as green as Ryegrass, and his skin is tanned but still pale. And he is wearing some baggy clothes. His name? He is named Nate.
In the temple, the man gets onto his knees in front of the triforce and starts to pry to his gods, and ends up getting sucked into some sort of dark hole that cracked up from beneath him. He was not aware of the floor opening up. As he opens his eyes, Thinking that he is in some drunk-induced dream, he tries to sleep it off but then hears a voice of a feminine type.
He hears "accept our quest, hero" from the voice, before knocking out cold in a field of grass. Then, as if they heard him crash, a worried red-haired woman appeared. When she finds Nate in the grass, she carries him to the north as far as she could.
Hours later, Nate wakes up. "Gaud, whaht the fuhck? Where ahm I? Wha..?" he looks around. He saw some village and some more fields with nothing interesting for him till he saw this group of... Travelers? Campers? Either way, Nate stood up and stumbled... a lot... but he was somewhat able to get to said group. He went around and tried asking about where he is, and who they were. But they either didn't end up giving Nate any useful information or outright ignored him with them having some sort of festival or party or something like that until he talked to the girl who dragged him earlier. Her hair is red, skin is a darker olive tone. She wears a red one-piece sleeveless dress with some yellow diamonds on the side. Rings of sorts on her wrists.
He went up to her while she was dancing. "Eshcuuuse me, do yeer know wheeeere we areh? I think I'm loshed. I need to go home. And who *urp* in Tartarus are you?" Nate said.
The red-haired girl stopped dancing and looked at Nate. "Well, first of all, the name's Din, nice to meet you. And what do you mean by that other stuff? We are northeast of Horon Village. And we decided to party. But where do you live?"
'Horon Village? What the fuck does she mean by that?' Nate thought about that before responding. "Unleash Horhon Villahge ish some short of hidden villahge within Hyruleh, I dhon't know whaht you ahre tahlking ahbout. Alsoh, niche to meeth you, Din waaaas it? My nahme's Nate." Nate went to sit down when Din put her hand out.
"Listen, I know you may not believe me, but I am going to need to see your left hand for a few moments"
"Whaht ish sho impohrtant ahbouht myh…” Nate ends up seeing the symbol of the Hyrulian Hero. The triforce of Courage “Byh the gohds, the hell is happehning?"
"That is the mark of the Hyrulian Hero! Want to..." A strong gust of wind starts to pick up and some kind of tornado ends up interrupting Din in the middle of what she was saying. Within it, some sort of armor within it enters in view.
"Well well well, there you are Oracle of Season." The voice, more masculine yet raspy, said while flinging people away. "You have hidden yourself well, and to that, I must give you some kudos. But even still, I shall now take you."
Nate stood up stood before Din as if to protect her. 'welp, this is a drunk-induced dream anyway. This will most likely wake my sorry ass up.' Nate said before being flung out of the way with a bit of the strong gust, but not far. But Nate ends up feeling pain. "Wh *urp* what the hell? Why in Tarderis did *urp* that hurt?"
"Stupid man, this is real! Now, for you, Din Oracle of Seasons, time to take you! ahahahahahah." The voice said, finishing.
As the tornado picks Din up and starts to dissipate, Nate stood up and ran towards it. He didn't want din to go, but he ended up getting flung farther. And at the end, he gets himself onto the ground closer to the town of Horon Village.
Nate wakes up after a few hours and sees an older lady kinda in his face. "Why, hello Nate, nice to see you. How has work been treating you?"
Nate looks at the lady. "Oh hey Impah, how areh you doooing? Wooork is hooorrible, buht you know whaht? It happens shometimes, ahnd I signed uhp for myh job and I am wooorking on my problems. Though, now I'm here. Do you know where I need to go?"
Impa thinks for a moment before answering. "Nate, I am sorry. but I don't know. But here is an idea. How about you go around and look at the town and see if you can find a weapon of some sort. There are a ton of monsters around this land that you might need to fight. And the town folk are nice, so if you need to, ask them.”
Nate nodded in a half-hearted state. “Look *urp* look around town and find a weapon. Ask the *urp* towns folk if I need help finding a weapon. Got ya.” Nate stood up and started to stumble towards the town to look for the weapon. But then he realizes he needed to ask something. “Hey Impa, do *urp* you know how we got here? Because I was *urp* praying to what I thought was the holy *urp* symbol of the pantheon I believe in, and I ended up here.”
Impa nods her head. “I do know, but I am not telling you, not yet at least. And, I thought I told you to work on your drinking problem.”
Nate finishes the conversation by flipping off Impa with a bit of love before saying “I am *urp* don’t worry.”
Impa then giggles a little. “Well, at least grab a map. And I have an idea for you after getting a sword, and make sure you get a darn shield.”
After hearing this, Nate’s middle finger gesture turns to a thumbs up.
It took Nate a while, but Nate found a map of Holodrum within a shop and he haggled on getting it, as he was new to the land. He noticed a shield and asked how much, but couldn’t buy it. He did see a ring shop but ended up saying fuck it and looked inside. He even asked what type of capitalistic pyramid scheme the shop was before getting kicked out. Nate asked around and found out where to find a sword and went to it, with the walk of a happy hour alcoholic goer.
On the way to the cave, Nate notices a well but thought he didn’t want to look into it for now as he had no reason to. ‘That might come in useful later, but why is that there? In the cave, there were some creatures, stuff like vampiric bats and snakes. He was able to dodge a lot of stuff thanks to his time on the farm back home while working. Though, he did nearly end up getting hit multiple times just due to how tipsy he is. And at the end of the cave, Nate had gotten a wooden sword.
“Whaht in tarnation? Whaht in Tahrtaaarus is a wooden fucking swoooord going to do?” Nate questions before testing it. He went out and saw that it was able to do the job, but took multiple hits to defeat the snakes, and barely was able to defeat the bats. “Weeelp, I guess thish will worrk for nowh. And surprising some heft.” Nate looked around in the cave and saw a chest on some ledge. “Now how *urp* do I get up to that ledge?” Nate looked around the room, before seeing a hole in the roof. “Well I’ll *urp* be damned, I think I found my way up,” Nate said this and ran out of the cave.
Nate went up to the well and, after throwing up a bit, dropped down the well. He was able to dodge rolled at the bottom and saw a chest. Within it, he saw some rupees and enough of them to buy a shield. And so he leaves and heads back to the shop and bought the shield. And with that, he thinks that back to what Impa said.
Nate sees Impa and sits down wobbly next to her. “Hey *urp* so, what was the thing that you were gonna *urp* suggest earlier?”
Impa smiled and then spoke up. “Well, behind a gate in the town, there is this tree named the Maku Tree, so maybe go and talk to them? And there are some essences that you need to collect called the Elements of Nature. But the Maku Tree will explain.”
Nate nods and works on getting up. Nate goes leaves but then remembers to ask one more question. “Why doh youh knohw so muhch?”
All Impa did was smile and shooed Nate out. She didn’t want to show off all her cards quite yet.
In Horon Village, Nate asked around to see where the Maku tree was, and some people pointed to where it was. At the gate, he read the sign that said “To enter, please present a sword of an adventurer.” And so, he ended up showing off the wooden sword, and the gate opens.
After this, Nate starts to sober up a bit. His speaking becomes a lot more comprehensible to the regular ears, and not sloshing around. But his demeanor is still very bad, and his walk is wavy.
Nate looked at the tree and was amazed. “Wow, this is… a big tree.” And then he noticed a face on the tree, with the nose having a snot bubble. He broke the bubble with his sword and the Maku tree woke up.
“Ah, hello young man. How are you doing today?” The Maku tree asked.
“I’m well. *urp* Just got a few questions for you *urp* sir. If that is ok with you, of course.” Nate said this before putting his sword away. He didn’t want to come off as threatening, though his sword was wood, so he didn’t know how threatening he could be to a tree as big as the Maku Tree.
“Ah, but of course. I understand that you may have some questions. What can I help answer hero? Is it gonna help with your journey?”
“Well *urp* I was wondering what the Elements of Nature were. And do you know *urp* what’s going on with Din? She got kid- *urp* kidnapped by some tornado… creature… thing… Do you know anything about that?” Nate asked all this while swaying on his knees. He didn’t want to crash in front of this seemingly important figure.
“Ah, well I ca- wait… did you just say Din got kidnapped? Well, that is something that is worrying. Worrying indeed. At lea-” As the Maku Tree was about to say something, then an earthquake of some sort starts happening. Nate fumbles to the ground and throws up a bit both thanks to him still being hung over drunk and out of fear of shaking.
Somewhere in the distance, a giant building sinks into the ground. And thanks to that, the seasons start to rapidly change before deciding on not having a mood swing. The temple seemingly had something to do with the seasons. After a while, Nate tries to stand but was unable with the quake going on.
“Wha- *hic* what’s happening, why is this happening?” Nate asks in fear. He had dealt with quakes before, given he had dealt he has worked with animals and he wanted to make sure that the animals are not killed., but he never dealt with a quake at this level.
“It looks like the temple of seasons is sinking into the ground. It must be because of the person who kidnapped Din. Listen here hero, eight elements of nature need to be collected. There is a Dark sorcerer that is trying to use Din for her powers, and thanks to that, his fortress is fortified. Gather them, and bring them back, alright?” as the Maku Tree finishes, the earthquake finishes up and Nate can stand once again.
Nate looks at the Maku tree and grones like the baby he is. “Fine, but I’m not *urp* doing this for you, nor the people. I am doing this because I don’t want to go back to my *urp* dead-end job. And what the hell do I have to fucking do to start? Because I don’t even know where to start.”
“Well, there is a place that I believe may have an element in i-” The Maku ends up turning a bit of a greyer tone of his color. I feel weird hero. I feel weak. Could the temple sinking drain me of most of my powers? Please go and get the first element, and please take this key to the root north of Horon Village.” After the end of saying all of this, The Maku Tree gave Nate the key needed
After this, Nate leaves the Maku Tree’s area with the key given to him. He felt a bit bad for the tree, but at the same time is this something that he can do? He didn’t know. He also felt mad at himself, because he felt like he took out the last bit of energy from the tree.
Nate leaves to the north with the key. He was still very mad at himself, and so he decides to skip for now. “Gods, why did that *urp* have to happen? Will others *urp* think I did what happened to the *urp* Maku tree? Hopefully not.”
Nate said all this before leaving out of the north entrance of town. He saw Impa and explained everything that happened to the Maku Tree. He looked around for the dungeon as he talked. Though he thinks he saw it after a while, he wasn’t sure though as it was a decrepit tree scrub. He left after finishing his explanation to Impa and was ready to repay his actual debt of sorts to the Maku Tree. He again felt bad and thought this would help. Nate looked at the shrub he saw. And he ended up seeing a keyhole and used the key in it. The shrub grew into a bigger tree with a hollow door-like thing in it.
“Welp, I guess I have to go in for the first element, huh? Welp, here I go then.” Nate said and headed in. He smelled some must, but even still he thinks it needs to work.
End of Chapter 1.
