Chapter Text
Kouki hated everyone's perception of him.
He thought it was clear that he wasn't shy, just reserved. He could talk to more people if he wanted to, but he didn't. He was happy with the friends he had made through basketball so he didn't understand why people felt he should make more.
It was actually pretty easy for him to make friends - if you had any sort of similar interest to him, he could talk about it to you for ages. For things like basketball, that was easy enough, but for anything to do with trains it became more difficult.
He knew that most other boys his age did not want to hear what sort of new train he saw the other week, or about a new part of the huge model train set he had in his attic. He knew that because they would tell him to his face, which sometimes hurt him quite a bit.
Kouki was chatty, but no one ever wanted to chat. They were all too busy for him. His school friends were usually talking about something basketball related so he never got a word in about anything else he wanted to talk about. When he thought about it, he really didn't know much about some of his friends other than their common interests.
His boyfriend was always busy too. On top of that, they were 230 miles a way. Their relationship was hardly convenient, but they tried their best.
Sometimes their best just didn't feel like enough for Kouki.
Oh well, maybe there wasn't much he could do about any of these things. He'd just have to deal with them, wouldn't he?
