Spooky Stories

Summary:

Tohru and her friends tell some tales

Work Text:

Tohru, Arisa, and Saki prepared for bed. They were engaged in an impromptu slumber party in Saki's home due to a rather sudden thunderstorm. "It's getting really dark" Arisa commented, looking out of the window. "It is nighttime" Saki replied. "I know" Arisa said, "But it's really dark. It's spooky". Then she had an idea. "Why don't we tell some spooky stories?" she suggested. "That sounds like fun!" Tohru said. "It'll probably give us some nightmares" Saki said, "So I'm in".

"Well" Arisa began, "I've got a pretty good story. It actually happened to me".

"Go on" Saki said. Arisa began her story:

"So, I was walking home one night. It was pouring down, and I was drenched. Suddenly, there was a power outage or something: The streetlights went out at least".

"W-what happened next?" Tohru asked. Arisa continued: "It was dark. Really dark. I didn't have a phone or anything, so I couldn't see shit. But for some reason I still kept on walking. Obviously I fell over".

"Oh! Were you OK?" Tohru asked. "Yeah" Arisa said, "So I was on the ground, trying to get up, when I saw these lights on the the ground. But like, I looked closer and they were fish, like little fish, and they kept on shapeshifting and moving about. Then like this giant fish appeared, like under the puddle, and it started talking to me".

"W-what did it s-say?" Tohru said. "I can't remember" Arisa said, "I was too scared. Anyway, the fish disappeared and then the power came back".

"That was interesting" Saki said, "I never realized you had ichthyophobia".

"D'you have a better story?" Arisa demanded. "No, not really" Saki admitted. "I have a story" Tohru commented. "Let's hear it" Arisa said. Tohru began her story:

"One night, me and Kyo were caught in a storm and we went to hide in a cave. But then, a tree fell on us! Kyo saved me, though. We were stuck, so we went through the cave: There was another exit at the other end. It was dark in the cave, and we couldn't see anything! We kept on walking through the cave, but then a giant eel-man came out of nowhere! I got scared, but Kyo protected me and fought off the fish man. After that, we escaped from the cave".

"There are a lot of spooky fish around here" Saki commented. "Is that really a spooky story?" Arisa mused, "It feels more like something else".

"Maybe" Tohru said. "Y'know" Saki said, "I might have a story".

"Oh! Do you want to tell it?" Tohru asked. Saki began her story:

"I was going to a curse-shop, when I felt an alien presence nearby".

"What happened?" Tohru inquired. "The aliens did something, then they left" Saki finished. "Now that wasn't a story at all" Arisa said. "Why not?" Saki asked. "Nothing happened!" Arisa said, "It's barely even a statement".

"I guess you have a point.." Saki replied. An awkward silence fell. As they listened to the rain, they heard a light chirping began to build up outside. "Are- are those witching toads?" Tohru asked, a light blush blooming on her face. "Yes" Saki said, "They escaped from the curse-shop a while ago".

"Oh, OK" Tohru said. "Hmm" Arisa said with a mischevious smirk, "I might have a story, d'you want to hear it?". Tohru and Saki nodded.

"I was out at the beach" Arisa began, "And I wanted some icecream. But the road was all out in the sun, so I had to go through the bushes".

"So what happened there?" Saki inquired. "I ran into some old net some ass left in the bushes" Arisa continued, "And somehow, I managed to completely entangle myself in the net. So there I was, helplessly entangled in the bushes". She stole a glance at Tohru, who was blushing deeply. "Well" Arisa continued, "I tried to escape, but no matter how much I struggled the net wouldn't budge".

"H-how did you get out?" Tohru mumbled. "I struggled and squirmed in the net" Arisa said, "But I couldn't get out. Eventually, some guy found me and helped me out".

"Oh.. T-that was a nice story" Tohru said. "I'm glad you enjoyed it so much" Arisa smirked. Saki sighed. "If you're going to tell that sort of story, at least tell a real one" she said. "It was real!" Arisa asserted, "Some of it, at least".

"What happened, really?" Tohru asked. "Well, there was a net" Arisa said, "But I just caught my foot. It was pretty easy to get out".

"But why did you say you got trapped?" Tohru asked. "'Cause.. Actually, I'm not sure why I did that" Arisa mused. She turned back to Tohru. "I'm sorry for doing that" Arisa apologized, "It was a shitty thing to do".

"It's OK" Tohru smiled. Saki then yawned. "Are you going to go to sleep?" Saki asked, "Because I'm getting tired".
