Work Text:
It’s a busy night at Angel’s Share and waiting tables is no easy task, having to constantly be on your feet and run around the tavern. Diluc was making drinks when suddenly, one of your regulars at the bar named Venti started speaking.
“You know, Diluc, I heard you have an AMAZING singing voice.” He says loudly, obviously a little drunk, “Why don’t you sing the tavern a tune?”
“How… kind of you to say that, however, I am no performer. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to making drinks.” Diluc says, already getting annoyed.
“I see,” Venti continues loudly, “But how many of the tavern’s patrons want to hear Master Diluc sing?”
Many of the drunk men in the tavern start cheering, having never heard Diluc speak much, let alone sing. Diluc shakes his head. After some grumbling from the patrons, you walk over to him and lean against the bar counter.
“I didn’t know you could sing, Master Diluc.” You say with a hint of curiosity.
“Pay no attention to that bard,” he says with a hint of venom on the word bard.
You look at him and smile, “Shame, I would have loved to hear you sing.”
With that comment you leave the bar to continue waiting on tables. A couple hours pass and you and Diluc begin to clean up. He cleans the bar area and you clean the tables. You start humming and as you set a tray of empty glasses into the sink, Diluc says something, surprising you.
“What song are you singing?” He asks
You look down and become a little flustered, thinking you’re annoying him, “I was singing this song called ‘Sway.’ Sorry if I was bothering you…”
He smiles, “It’s okay, you weren’t bothering me at all. I like that song.”
All of the sudden you hear him start singing,
When marimba rhythms start to play,
Dance with me, make me sway
You look up at him, shocked by his amazing voice.
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
You listen to him continue singing and when he was done, you clapped, amazed that he actually sang to you.
