“So, what did you think?”
Annabeth Chase leaned against the wall of the Big House at Camp Half-Blood. She had just finished giving Magnus and Alex a tour of the place, but they both seemed unimpressed.
Magnus shrugged. “It’s cool. It’s nice to finally get to see where you and Percy spent all your time.” He turned and wandered around the corner. Annabeth and Alex followed. They probably shouldn’t have.
Will Solace and Nico di Angelo were there, kissing, clearly trying to have a private moment. They pulled away. Everyone stood there in silence as Nico’s confused gaze shifted between Magnus and Alex.
“You’re dead.”
Will put a hand on his boyfriend’s shoulder. “It’s alright, Neeks, it’s not a big deal. We should have gone somewhere more private anyway.”
“No.” Nico pointed. “They’re literally dead. Those two. I can sense it.”
Alex, currently female, smirked and fidgeted with her garrote. “You have that correct. Magnus and I are dead. But how do you know?”
“I’m a son of-”
“Whoa whoa whoa.” Will raised his hands in the air. “What’s going on? Nico, you’re saying that Annabeth’s accomplices here are ghosts?”
Annabeth sighed. “Not really. So, you know how we’ve discovered that many different pantheons of gods can coexist in the same universe?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, this is my cousin Magnus. He’s a Norse demigod. And this is his girlfriend Alex. They’re both dead, but the Norse afterlife has some loopholes that allow them to come here for a while.”
Annabeth let that sink in for a moment. Nico seemed intrigued by this information but Will was completely baffled. Then Alex spoke.
“Alright then, so who are these people?”
A long series of introductions followed, which included Magnus having an animated conversation with Will.
“And you’re telling me that we’re both queer healers who can glow in the dark and are dating children of the most notoriously feared gods?”
“I guess so,” Will replied. “But Hades isn’t actually that bad. Mostly a bunch of misconceptions.”
Magnus crossed his arms. “I wish I could say the same about Loki.”
“Oh no.”
“Yeah.”
Annabeth laughed. “Well, I’ll go get some lunch. You four definitely have a lot more explaining to do.”
