Work Text:
“It’s really cold outside today”, you told Kageyama while leaving the gym. Your club ended earlier today so you had waited for him outside. It was a ritual for the two of you to walk home together; in a way it was like a date to you, especially if you were particularly busy with schoolwork or training. Sometimes you’d even take longer routes just to spend more time together.
After the words left your lips, he immediately turned to you with slight concern visible on his face. “Are you cold? Here, I’ll give you my jacket so you won’t catch anything.” He shrugged his jacket off and put it on your shoulders, clumsily wrapping you in it.
As much as you appreciated the sentiment, you already wore two jackets and in conclusion weren’t even cold yet. Sure your face was a little cold, but it’s not like his jacket would help much with that. On the contrary, your dumbass of a boyfriend now only wore a thin pullover. Pulling off his jacket, you let out a little sigh. “Please, my love, take back your jacket. I don’t need it and you’re clearly shivering.” You tried to give it back but he simply yanked it out of your hands and pushed it onto you again.
Kageyama wasn’t the best at reading situations yet, as he genuinely thought you were cold - you had to be, you must’ve been standing there for some time, judging from your red nose. “No, take it! You must be cold since you were already waiting for me!”
Another sigh escaped your lips. Though you couldn’t help the smile that came onto your face. As hard as it might be to deal with his stubbornness, he still was that adorable dorky volleyball hunk you came to love who was simply trying his best at being a good boyfriend.
But having to deal with this on a daily basis meant you already had an idea on how to handle this. Once more, you slipped out of the jacket and put it on his shoulders, quickly zipping it closed around him so his arms were pressed to his sides. Your arms sneaked around his waist as you pulled him in for a hug. “I guess I’ll just have to keep you warm. May I kiss you?” You innocently tilted your head up to look at him. “It’s part of the procedure.”
If Kageyama had been cold before, he sure as hell wasn’t now, as an enormous blush spread across his face. Shit, did you even have any idea what you were doing to him? To him, you were like a setter performing a dump - you dumped such unexpectedly cute things on him out of nowhere and he couldn’t possibly receive them, causing you to score more and more points in his heart. But he was a setter too.
Even in his flustered state he managed to nod. So you carefully pressed your lips against his soft ones. Usually, he would simply kiss back, not really knowing what to do with his hands. But this time, after he slipped his arms through the sleeves of his jacket, he put one hand to the back of your neck to carefully tilt your head to deepen the kiss while the other one wrapped around your waist.
Instead of getting flustered like he thought you might, you kissed him with a little more vigor until you had to pull away due to a lack of air. Slightly panting, you smiled at him. “I didn’t know you could kiss that well, darling.” “Just wanted to try out something new”, he mumbled, glancing at your lips again. “It was a good choice.”
Well, it certainly seemed like you were better at receiving than he was. But he would be lying if he said he didn’t like the way you kissed just now - he would make sure to try that again some time.
“But,”, Kageyama looked back up at you, as you smirked a little, “will you keep your jacket now or do I have to kiss you again?”
