Chapter Text
Lux normally doesn’t drink this much, just a sip of champagne here and there at social events. However, being stood up by her only contact in the City of Progress puts her in a sour mood. It wasn’t the Sheriff’s intention, and Lux can’t blame her, really. The safety of dozens if not hundreds of civilians is way more important than being Lux’s designated tour guide.
If she just knew someone else in town that would make her less lonely…
Looking around, Lux spots familiar faces of dignitaries and their relatives around the pool area, a few are sunbathing, and others sip over ice margaritas and mojitos. She can almost hear her mom’s voice: Great opportunity to make connections, Luxanna. Yes, these would be great connections to have… if Lux gave a rat’s ass about politics. She knows how all those conversations would go, and she’s too wasted to get into them anyway. She should probably stop drinking, eat some lunch and go back to her room to be bitter in solace.
But as soon as Lux makes up her mind to call it a day, she sees the eccentric figure of a slim girl strut along the lounging area by the pool. More than a couple of heads turn upon seeing her. Lux bites her lip and hastily asks for a refill when the bartender obstructs her view. Who is that?
Lux blinks a few times making sure her eyes aren’t betraying her. A woman with bright blue hair and stark-white skin lays her towel on a lounge chair. The fact that she’s wearing all black catches Lux’s eye, but what she finds odd is that the woman is wearing so much leather! To a pool!
A tiny bralette barely covers her modesty, her torso wrapped by a leather-strap vest that connects to the spiked collar around her neck. Belts, chains, and straps dangle on her hips and around her thighs, hooked to the loops of her shorts. Lux’s eyes drift to her exposed midriff, lingering on a taut stomach and blue smoke inked across her side. She’s lean and short in stature, and every single movement of hers seems to flow effortlessly and graciously.
Covering her face with her big jet-black sunhat, the exotic beauty lays down on her chosen chair, presumably to sunbathe. Lux keeps watching her from afar. Only snapping out of it when a shudder runs up her spine from a strong breeze coursing through. Lux curses as the wind yanks her hat off her head.
Stupid infinity pool stupid summer breeze, stupid Piltover! What a drag… She follows the hat with her gaze and watches it land a foot from the blue-haired girl’s lounging chair. Oh… Well, her mother would want her to mingle, right?
Jinx’s skin is on fire, she hates how sunny this side of Piltover is in the summer, the fumes and smoke permanently blocking the sunlight in Zaun have their downsides, but getting burnt alive isn’t one of them. Despite the Shimmer in her blood, she still burns too easily, especially with the reflection of the sun bouncing off the water.
Having a little bit of a tan won’t be such a terrible thing though. The glowing girl has a slight tan, it’s kinda hot, actually. Not that the shiny girl is hot or anything. Top Hat has just been spending too much time with this girl, leaving Fat Hands to her own devices, which, truth be told, is a good thing for Jinx. But seeing her sister having to handle everything all on her own, makes her a little bit mad. That’s why she decided to come here and confront this girl. By the looks of it, Jinx’s outfit was enough to at least call the blonde’s attention. Now she just gotta wait…
Her eyes flutter closed, the heat slowly seeping past the surface of her skin and mingling with her always too-sensitive nerves. She’s used to sleeping during the day anyway and her sunhat brings enough coverage.
She wonders if Top Hat and Fat Hands will be able to dismantle the bomb she planted in the middle of the main Plaza. If they don’t, she hopes to come back to the show on time.
It suddenly feels less hot, yeah, that’s nice… Did a cloud cover the sun? Well, it doesn’t matter, she enjoys the sudden drop in temperature until—water sprays over her legs.
“The fuck?” Jinx grumbles, jerking into a sitting position. She scowls at the figure shielding her from the sun.
“Sorry!” The blonde exclaims, rubbing her neck. “My hat flew off, I didn’t mean to splash you.”
Jinx just stares at her, sliding her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose to glance over the soaking-wet girl before her. She’s wearing a two-piece white bikini with a golden trim that matches her silky, dripping locks. Her eyes slowly trace down the blue-haired woman’s body and linger on her tattoos. Jinx’s stomach does a backflip and she gulps heavily. Oh no… This isn’t good, this isn’t the plan…
“I’m just gonna…” She trails off, bending down to grab the stark white sunhat from next to Jinx’s lounge chair, flicking off inexistent dust from it.
“Hm.” Jinx bites her lip.
“Again, sorry for splashing you… were you napping or something?” The girl asks, and her cheeks are flushed. Looks like she’s been drinking. Why does she look so cute all fumbly and nervous? Ugh. Rich kids always fucking with her plans.
“Tryin’ to. The bucket of water ya poured over me kinda put a damper on that, now didn’t it, Blondie?” Jinx stands up, picking up her towel and drying off her legs.
“Y–yeah…”
Sitting back down, Jinx folds her towel ignoring the blonde. Jinx doesn’t wanna go through with it anymore but the girl is just standing there… What’s she still doing standing there? Jinx turns to her with a stony glare and finds her scanning her up and down.
“What?” Jinx asks, mildly annoyed—mostly at her own fluttering chest.
“Huh?”
“You’re staring.” Jinx arches an eyebrow.
“I just… you…” The blonde stammers.
“What!?” Jinx snaps.
The other girl flinches and looks away quickly. “S–sorry. I’ll just…” She hastily turns on her heel.
“Wait! You’ll—” For fuck’s sake.
She tries to rush off and quite literally trips on her feet. Jinx all but dashes to her side, wrapping an arm around her torso and pulling her into her chest before she can nosedive into the floor.
Her body moves faster than her mind does, as per usual. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Landing with her arm bent in a less than ideal position, she faintly hears the sickening ‘pop’ of her shoulder. The pain is mindnumbing and she can’t help the cry that rips out of her. Fuck!
Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me! She blinks up at the blonde who’s turned around to face her. The girl stares in shock as Jinx sits up on her lounge chair, holding her arm close. Wincing, she murmurs under her breath. “Towel, gimme the towel, Blondie.”
The blue-haired girl parts her lips staring at Lux’s eyes when the blonde takes the towel and brings it to the other girl’s mouth. “Don’t let go,” she says as she bites into the towel, keeping her smouldering spring berry eyes on Lux.
Unable to do anything but stare, Lux holds her gaze. “I’m sorry,” she whispers, biting her lip as tears threaten to fall from her eyes.
The other girl hisses and whimpers, biting hard into the fabric. Lux sees it, her features scrunching up, eyes widening and gleaming with pain, and the way all the tension melts away the moment she pops her dislocated shoulder back into place. Her hazy eyes keep staring at Lux as she opens her jaw, letting the towel fall from her lips. She then leans against the blonde, breathing hard against her shoulder. Lux wraps an arm gently around the other woman, she’s so warm, and her whipcord muscles flex under Lux’s touch. Rubbing her back gently, Lux feels her breath tickle her neck, raising goosebumps down her back.
“I’m sorry,” she says again. “Are you okay?”
The woman makes a noise in assent, nuzzling into Lux.
“Thanks, by the way, I could’ve really hurt myself.”
How embarrassing would that have been? Falling and injuring herself in front of—the blonde suddenly remembers where she is and looks around in panic. A few people turn to the unlikely pair but they mostly seem unphased. Just what the hell is going on?
The girl mumbles against her skin, and Lux shivers, pulling back softly.
“What?” Lux asks, pulling back to see those hazy pink eyes look back at her.
“I said, you owe me one, Blondie.” The smirk on the girl’s lips with that remark shouldn’t have been so alluring, but Lux finds herself stammering and flushing, her heart rate picking up.
“Oh, uh, sure, I… I’m Lux by the way.”
“Whatever ya say, Blondie.” Lux pouts, and the other girl chuckles.
How did she recover from the pain so quickly? And why does everyone seem to ignore her? There’s something about this girl that raises many questions within Lux. She wants to know everything about her, but she should start with the basics.
“What’s your name?” Lux asks.
“Jinx, stands for jinx,” the girl says reflexively.
“Nice to meet you, Jinx…” Lux hums, tasting the name, letting it roll off her tongue. It seems to suit her. “Even if the circumstances weren’t great…”
Jinx snorts, lifting a hand to play with Lux’s hair. “Ya can say that again.”
“How can I make it up to you?”
“Dunno, Blondie, how can you?”
An idea pops into Lux’s mind. “Do you come here often?”
“Nah, this kinda fancy place isn’t my scene.”
“Really? Huh…” Lux wonders what brought her here today, then. “Do you want to come up to my room? Lay down and relax for a bit.”
“Hm, you’re asking me to get into bed with ya? Are ya flirting with me?” Jinx snorts.
Lux flushes brightly but before she can deny anything, she surprises herself with a bold remark. “And what if I am?”
Tilting her head to the side, Jinx searches her face, considering. Slowly swiping her tongue across her lips she hums, twirling with Lux’s hair. “Then…” She starts, staring into Lux’s eyes with a burning gaze that sends shivers down Lux’s back. “What’re ya waiting for to take me back to your room?” Jinx asks fluidly with a smile as sharp as a knife.
And Lux can’t help but think she wouldn’t mind getting cut by it.
