“Haha! I win again!”
Nick groaned and threw himself backwards. They had been playing video games at Charlie’s for half an hour now, and Nick had not won a single game. Charlie snorted; that boy was not dramatic at all .
“Like I said,” Charlie started, looking down smugly at his boyfriend, “you’re good in real life sports, I’m good at fake ones.”
“Coach me,” Nick said, then rolled over. “Please. I helped you with rugby, come on.” And three, two, one…
puppy eyes
.
How was Charlie supposed to resist these?
“Alright. You’ll get better, but you can never beat me.”
“We’ll see about that!”
One hour later, Nick had improved -according to himself- but still hadn’t beaten Charlie. The boys had decided to stop playing though, and were now propped against the wall at the head of Charlie’s bed.
“I started telling people about us,” Nick suddenly said. “Family.”
“You’ve told your parents?”
“Talked to my mom as soon as we got back from our date. And I got a call from my father just yesterday.”
Charlie turned his head towards Nick and beamed. “That’s great!”
“Yeah. It was stressful but… I feel a lot better now.”
Charlie laced their fingers together. “I know the feeling.”
“I’m just really happy I can be completely myself at home now. By the way, mom wants you to come over, so she can ‘officially meet her son’s boyfriend’.”
“I’d love to.”
They smiled at each other, then kissed before snuggling for a movie.
