Summary:

Platonic Flufftober Day 4 - Reunion

Benchtrio meet IRL for the first time in a while, just pure fluff :D

Work Text:

Tommy had woken up jittery that morning. He couldn’t stop moving as he stared out the window at passing birds, high above his head and fluffy, white clouds, moving slowly across a clear blue sky. His leg bounced as he sat at the table, his father sending him questioning looks, but overall ignoring it.

It was expected at this point, it being the first day in about 4 months that he was able to go see his friends. He was going to meet up with Tubbo and Ranboo in Brighton, leaving for his train in about an hour. It wasn’t quite enough time for him to attempt to calm down before the journey, but with how little he slept the night before due to excitement, it was likely he would sleep on the train anyway.

But, for now, his parents have to deal with an excitable Tommy, practically bouncing off the walls with happiness and unable to sit still for even 10 seconds.

“Tom, you know I have work to do. You could go check that you have everything you need?”

It was phrased as a question, but it was obvious that his father wanted him out of the room so that he could focus. Tommy didn’t take it to heart, even he knew he was being distracting at the minute.

“Alright, see ya!”

His voice was loud as he spoke, unable to think about volume control when he spoke, too busy focusing on the passing of time as it got closer and closer to when he would be able to see his best friends again, his sun and moon. He grasped the necklace around his neck at that thought. Him, Toby and Boo had gotten matching ones at a fair a while ago, they wore them wherever they went.

Tommy’s had a small replica of the earth as a pendant, Tubbo had the sun and Ranboo the moon. The small glass figures represented them well and none of them could be more happy that they had found the set when they did. The necklaces were a perfect end to an amazing day out for the trio and it brought them closer together than they had ever been beforehand.

Unfortunately, they had gotten so caught up in their own things, being busy with work or personal projects, that they didn’t have time to see each other in person until today. He missed them. So his excitement was understandable and his anxiety couldn’t get past the wall of joy and happiness his mind had formed at even the idea of seeing his platonic soulmates again.

He decided he would call them until he got on the train.

When he did get on the train the anxiety began to set in only slightly the occasional thought of something going wrong on the way there, like one of them can’t make it or there’s an issue with the train. He didn’t let it get to him though, this day was going to be perfect and there was nothing that could happen to change that.

He fell asleep to the sound of his pseudo-brother’s voice as it filtered through his headphones, his blond hair falling into his closed eyes as he leaned his head against the train window, thoughts of his family waiting for him at the end of the journey filling his head with happy smiles and warm hugs.

He awoke around two stops from his own, a sleepy smile on his face as he stared out at the blur of green outside that slowly morphed into bricks that were vibrant in the sunlight, the buildings of Brighton being large and pretty. The whole city was full of colour and vibrancy even the people in it were bright and colourful as they went about their days.

He reached his stop quickly, grabbing his bags and pulling out his phone as he stepped off the train. He sent a quick message to Tubbo asking him where they were to meet now that they were all in the city. The reply was almost instantaneous, the answer being a small cafe that they had thoroughly enjoyed when they went the last time they were together. They would meet outside of it to avoid causing a scene inside.

A wide smile on his face, he began the walk towards the familiar place, it was memorable, the street being covered with pride flags and market stalls, the cafe itself being a pastel pink that stood out against brick walls surrounding it. Its windows were large and covered with stickers, a soft, comfy vibe emanated from within it and outside it. It was just overall a nice place.

He spotted Ranboo first, the tall man standing out above the heads of people and even the tops of stalls, his face lit up further, practically radiating happiness as he sped up towards the taller until he was almost running at him. It was difficult given that he still had his suitcase with him, but he managed anyway.

He barrelled into him, dropping his suitcase handle and wrapping his arms tightly around his moon.

“Hey! I want hugs too!”

Tubbo’s arms wrapped around the two of them, joining the embrace with a strong grip, providing safety and comfort for them. It would have been restricting if it were anyone else, but this was their sun, their protector, he could never be anything less to them.

Tommy laughed loudly as they pulled away from the hug after a while, unable to contain the pure joy he was feeling at seeing the both of them, being able to hold them after so long. He grabbed Ranboo’s hand in his, intertwining their fingers unconsciously, the feeling familiar by now and Ranboo’s own smile widened at the contact.

He didn’t go to grab Toby’s hand as well, the shorter not a huge fan of extended physical contact, preferring the occasional hand carding through his hair or a short brush of fingers against his own, to full on hand-holding. He was aware of this as he ran his fingers through Tubbo’s hair, blunt nails slightly scratching at his head in a comforting way. He brushed out a few knots that had formed.

“I missed you guys”

It was Ranboo who said it, having been mostly quiet for the time they had been outside.

“Missed you too, Boo”

Tommy voiced his feelings freely.

“Every day”, Tubbo assured.

Their smiles grew as they basked in each other’s company, making their way into the small cafe to continue with their day.

‘Yeah,’ Tommy thought, ‘Today’s going to go perfectly’
