Character and Idea Archive

Summary:

This is going to be a bunch of ideas for new characters to implement in stories, as well as prompts that I haven't explored much past putting them on paper. If others want to use the characters or the prompts, that is fine on one condition: send me the link to the story, would love to see these characters and ideas from a different angle.

Constructive criticism is welcome, trolls are not.

Chapter 1: Tempus "Orion" Eclipse

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Name - Tempus “Orion” Eclipse

Species – Alicorn (Due to Alicorn nature, has an alternate personality called World-breaker Eclipse)

Gender – Male

Physical characteristics – coloration very similar to Sunset Shimmer, but Alicorn dimensions. Horn constantly emits a faint green glow, as does the hourglass on his WarMark.

Mark (See: WarMark) - his mark is shield with an hourglass insignia on it, placed in front of two swords

Family – Princess Celestia(sister), Princess Luna (Sister), Princess Cadence (Niece), Mara Nyx (Niece/Adopted Daughter [See History]), Sunset Shimmer (Daughter [See History])

Alignment – Chaotic Good

Occupation – Reluctant Royal, Guardian of the Timeline

Skills – Experienced Warrior and General + Mastery of Battle Tactics and Strategy; Knowledge of the Space-Time continuum (Experienced World-Walker); Knowledge of Pre-Equestrian Reformation History

Powers – Eclipse has basic Alicorn magic, including flight, telekinesis, etc. His own magic takes the form of Time magic, allowing him to shift back and forth throughout time almost at will. His magic has limitations that prevent him from interfering in past events unless correcting the actions of another time traveler. His time magic also has a cost every time it is used, usually putting him in a coma for several days. In terms of raw power, capable of easily defeating both his sisters at once. In his Worldbreaker form, he can destroy entire dimensions.

Personality - Eclipse has an instinctive distrust of authority figures since his experience with the Equestrian Emperor and the Dark Council. As such, despite technically possessing a royal title, he finds himself gritting his teeth every time he is called "Prince." He is more appreciative of his nickname, "Orion," which was given to him by his sisters during one of his military leaves.

While Eclipse's experiences often lead him to being a reserved, quiet individual, he knows first-hand the power of compassion. He is also very active, preferring not to sit around passing judgement or giving orders. As such, he is rarely found in the Canterlot Palace. Eclipse is both a workaholic and a perfectionist, and though he has learned to restrain these traits over the years, they still bleed out from time to time. Eclipse is fiercely loyal to those who have earned his trust, but his trust has to be earned. Due to experience with the Equestrian Empire, he also has a good grasp of politics, as much as he loathes it.

Eclipse also has some experience with many of the Mane 6, as well as others in his home dimension, thanks to his encounters with their counterparts. Of the Mane 6, he is dismissive of Rainbow Dash and Rarity, mainly due to their ego problems; accepting of Applejack, who he respects due to her dedication to her work; he is confused and endeared by Pinkie Pie, who he finds an odd combination of crazy and hilarious (resulting in Pinkie being one of the few non-family members who can make him smile); he is quite close with Fluttershy, who he understands due to their mutual desire to stay out of the spotlight; he is even closer to Twilight, who he thinks of as an adoptive niece. Eclipse shares Twilight's love of knowledge, though Eclipse has a better understanding of what kind of magic should never be used (ex. Temporal Manipulation[Time Travel]).

History – Tempus Eclipse was born as the eldest sibling of Princess Celestia and Luna, in a time when Equestria was not a kingdom, but an Empire. In its early history, Equestria was ruled by an Emperor, who delegated through a council of 12 of the strongest individuals alive, called the Dark Council. The general disposition of the higher rankings and nobility were sadistic nightmares who lived to torment others. Eclipse was born into a family that represented an exception to that rule. However, they were still required to serve the Empire. Celestia and Luna had been born less than a few months before Eclipse was drafted into the service. There, he rose through the ranks fast, as a highly effective commander and soldier, one who regularly disobeyed the orders of his superiors (since those orders would often result in far more deaths than necessary). Despite a lack of support from higher ups, he got promoted fast, getting to the point where he saw the plans for invasions being drawn out. That was when everything changed. Eclipse discovered that the invasions being launched were never about protecting their people, but enslaving others, and in some cases wiping them out. Horrified, Eclipse deserted, taking several legions with him. He vanished for a few years, finally reappearing as the leader of a resistance movement that united several dozen races, including dragons, griffins, changelings, and more. After a conflict spanning 5 years, the members of the Dark Council were defeated, and Eclipse challenged the emperor himself in single combat. The details of the fight remain shrouded in mystery, but what is known is that Eclipse fatally wounded the emperor, freeing the entire world. In his final act, the emperor attempted to destroy Luna and Celestia, who had come to support their brother. Eclipse shielded them but could not cancel out the full effects of the spell cast, only change them. This resulted in Eclipse being exiled from his home dimension, cursed to wander through the multiverse for the rest of his life. A side effect of the spell granted him a life span that was over 6 times longer than any other Alicorn.

Due to temporal displacement effects in dimension jumping, he lived for two thousand years in the time between the princesses’ coronation and Twilight taking the throne. During that time, he sought a way home, crossing through countless dimensions. Eventually, there was a rupture in the dimensional barrier that had kept him from Equestria. It allowed Eclipse to finally return, but he was limited to only a specific area around where he had arrived, including a village where he met Sunset Shimmer’s mother. He fell in love, and this resulted in Sunset Shimmer’s birth. Unfortunately, the rupture that allowed him to return did not close, and it threatened to destroy Equestria with threats from other realities. Eclipse realized quickly that the barrier could not be re-sealed from that side, and to close it, he would have to return to his exile. Bidding farewell to his love, he went through and sealed the barrier, returning to his quest to find a permanent way home. Sunset’s mother died a few years later, before she could tell her anything about her father other than his nickname, “Orion.” Sunset moved in with her aunt and cousin, Stellar Flare and Sunburst. Back in the multiverse, Eclipse found himself in a dimension that had been conquered by King Sombra and his Queen, Nightmare Moon. His powers limited by a curse on the world, Eclipse relied on his experience to build a rebellion against the tyrants, defeating them and erecting a prison seal for Sombra. Eclipse then made an artifact that prevented Nightmare Moon from controlling Luna. Ashamed of her actions, Luna asked Eclipse for a favor: to raise her daughter, Mara Nyx, away from the evil Luna had inflicted. Eclipse took on the burden and raised Mara as his own as he continued to travel through dimensions. Finally, upon Twilight’s coronation, a massive surge of energy was released into the multiverse, allowing for Eclipse and Mara to find the Nexus, a sort of waypoint to every dimension in existence. Using the energy released as a guide, the two finally returned to Equestria.

Note: WarMark: in the age of the Equestrian Empire, each pony's "cutie mark" was divided into a variety of categories, and the mark one received was indicative of their social status:

  • Mage Marks - The Second rarest Mark type, these marks were dedicated specifically to magic. Examples would include Twilight's stars (Would include Starswirl, but have no idea what his mark is). Mage Marks were almost always treated as the best of the best, and had inherent power over others.
  • War Marks - War Marks were Marks that were obviously dedicated to battle, like Eclipse's crossed swords and shield. They were regarded with respect, and many with War Marks were able to rise to the Dark Council, though there was still preferential treatment to those with Mage Marks over War Marks.
  • Labor Marks - Marks that did not fit into other categories but were still regarded as useful were called Labor Marks, modern day equivalents being that of Applejack and her family.
  • "Marks of Shame" - Marks that could not help in battle or in a similar capacity, such as agriculture, were called "Marks of Shame." bearers of this mark were regarded as little better than slaves, and were rarely able to advance their standing. No examples from the past, but the modern day equivalents would be Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie's marks.
  • Nature Marks - Nature marks tended to deal with the natural world around them, an example being Celestia and Luna's sun and moon respectively. Not well understood at the time, Nature Marks were rare, and those with them existed outside the normal social order, being regarded with some respect and a great deal of caution, as those who wielded them also had unusual abilities. They were the rarest marks at the time.

Notes:

Note: Yes, I did base a lot of details about the Equestrian Empire off of the Sith Empire from Star Wars the Old Republic. I am a fan of the game, sue me.

Chapter Text

Real Name: Victoria von Doom

Alias: Oracle (as Champions Tech Support), Warmage (Field)

Species: Human

Occupation: Superhero, Scientist, Mechanic, Sorcerer

Identity: Known to select allies

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Affiliation: Champions, Latveria

Gender: Female

Relatives: Unknown Biological Mother (Deceased), Unknown Biological Father (Deceased), Victor Von Doom (Adopted Father)

History: Victoria Von Doom, born to an ordinary Latverian couple, started her story tragically. Less than a month after her birth, her small village was raided by a mercenary group working for the Roxxon Energy Company, as Doom had recently earned their ire by refusing to allow Roxxon to harvest a recently discovered resource within Latverian borders because the village was located right on top of it. Doom’s forces routed Roxxon, but not before the mercenaries executed the villagers to prevent witnesses. This naturally enraged Doom, who personally killed over half the mercenaries in vengeance. Just before he left, Doom heard the sound of a crying infant. Pushing through the rubble of the village, he found Victoria, whose parents had managed to hide her from the mercenaries. Doom was strangely drawn to the child, for reasons even he didn’t understand. He decided then that he would protect this child, whatever it took. On that day, Victoria von Doom was born.

When Victoria turned 5, Doom personally began her instruction in the way of war. No matter what, he wanted to be sure his daughter was prepared for anything that might happen. Victoria was a natural in melee combat, but more importantly to Doom, she was a prodigy. Doom’s top scientists were flabbergasted when Victoria pointed out an error in an equation that had left them stumped for weeks prior. When Victoria was 10, Doom began teaching her magic, which she also took to very quickly.

When she was 15, Doom felt confident enough in his daughter’s abilities to let her attend general schooling in Latveria, as despite his reputation as a loner, Doom understood the importance of allies. Unfortunately, the fact that Doom has a child, adopted or otherwise, was something that his enemies were determined to use against him. A coalition of Hydra, AIM, and Roxxon initiated an assault on Victoria’s school, managing to successfully kidnap her. Doom was enraged by this, and at first attempted to get his daughter back himself, but the coalition forces were too much for even him. Reluctantly, Victor did something he hoped he never would: he asked Reed Richards for help. Richards was understandably shocked, but as a father himself he knew just how many rules he would be willing to break for his children.

While Doom and Richards began planning a counterattack, Victoria was meeting another one of Roxxon’s prisoners: Nadia Van Dyne, aka the Wasp. The coalition, after their success with Victoria, voted to continue working together to take down their common enemies. It was there that Victoria discovered how her father was viewed by the outside world. Shortly after her arrival in the Roxxon prison, Victoria learned that the Coalition’s partnership meant that every hero captured would be rotated through the prisons, meaning in this case that each group had an equal number of prisoners. With this information, she and Nadia plotted their escape. While reluctant to trust Victoria, Nadia had few other choices. Roxxon knew of Doom’s skill with the mystic arts, but they had no knowledge of Victoria’s own, which she used to her advantage with a telekinetic sleight of hand, taking the guard’s key card. Nadia and her new ally left Roxxon quietly, though not before recovering Nadia’s Wasp suit.

Back with Doom, he and Richards had realized that the Coalition was making a bigger play than just revenge against Doom when Ms. Marvel entered the Baxter building sporting several injuries and a costume that had been damaged heavily by laser fire. Ms. Marvel explained that the Coalition was trying to collect as many heroes as possible for some experiment. They had cornered her, and she only escaped through pure luck. With this new information in mind, Reed called upon the remaining available heroes, though the Avengers were busy in space at the time. The only heroes able to answer the call were Spiderman (Peter Parker), Wolverine (Logan), Doctor Strange, and Viv Vision. Most of the other heroes were busy with other assignments, while the rest had been captured.

With Victoria and Nadia, she was slowly but surely earning her trust, first by helping to repair Nadia’s suit, and then by serving as bait for a Roxxon executive, as while the duo knew about the coalition’s prisons, they didn’t know where they were. A quick interrogation fixed that. The duo then proceeded to travel on foot, as despite Victoria and Nadia’s best efforts, the Wasp suit was still unable to fly, and Victoria’s armor lacked the capability entirely. So began the slow march to Jersey City, where Hydra had established a base through the H.O.P.E Yards corporation. When they finally arrived, Nadia and Victoria chose the subtle approach in entering the place. Or at least Nadia did. Victoria, on the other hand, chose to launch a full-frontal assault on the base. This action made the news, where it spoke of a woman in Doom style armor bearing the Latverian crest attacking H.O.P.E. Yards. This news made it to the Baxter Building, where it was pointed out to Doom by Ms. Marvel.

In Jersey, the fight with Hydra had not gone according to plan. Nadia successfully freed the prisoners, Spiderman (Miles Morales) and Bombshell (Lana Baumgartner), but the Hydra had a seemingly endless supply of robots and soldiers to send at the team. Lana got clipped by a laser blast, and the Hydra overseer shouted that they could not allow witnesses. Lana closed her eyes as a soldier at point-blank range aimed at her head but was surprised not to feel anything when she heard the gun go off. Opening her eyes, she saw Victoria in front of her, only to fall with a new hole in her armor.

The moment Victoria fell to the ground, a roar of pain and rage came from the gate, followed by a barrage of lasers and mystic blasts tearing the Hydra goons apart. The Champions looked to see Doctor Doom standing with Ms. Marvel and the others from the Baxter Building. Doom rushed forward with vengeance in his eyes, leaving no Hydra agent he faced alive. Meanwhile, Mr. Fantastic rushed over to Victoria and began to heal her wound. By the time Doom was finished razing the Hydra facility, Reed had managed to stabilize Victoria, but told Doom that he needed to get her back to the Baxter Building. Doom only nodded in agreement.

Once the rescuers and escapees arrived at the Baxter Building, they split up. Ms. Marvel and the rescued Champions went off to discuss what happened, Parker went with Reed to the medical room, and Logan and Doctor Strange went with Doom to discuss the potential fallout of what just happened.

The Champion's meeting was simple at first: figure out who had been captured, where they were, etc. The complicated matter came when the discussion began about Victoria. Nadia told the group what she knew about her, which caused expressions to range from raised eyebrows (Viv) to full shock (Lana). The expressions all turned to shock when Nadia suggested something crazy: invite Victoria to the Champions.

Doom’s meeting was a bit more tense, as the three adults all understood that Doom’s actions in Jersey could be interpreted as an act of war by most people. Releasing the information that Nadia and Victoria had recovered would help, but only to a point. Doom, for his part, plainly stated that he regretted none of his actions, and if his daughter was in danger again, he would be willing to kill many more people than he just had. With that statement, the three decided it would be best for them to wait for Richards to come back before deciding anything.

A few hours passed before Parker came out to tell the group that Victoria was awake. Doom pushed past him to get to his daughter’s bedside, followed closely by Nadia. When Doom made it clear that she wasn’t welcome, Victoria opted to ignore her father and invite her friend in, saying that she deserved to be part of this talk. Both sat down, and Victoria began laying out everything that she had learned from the outside world since her kidnapping, including the general perception of her father. Before Doom could refute her, she silenced him, saying that she understood why he felt he couldn’t tell her, and she also understood why he thought his path was the only way forward. She then talked about her specific adventures with Nadia and how fulfilling it was to help people like the Champions did. Nadia interjected then, telling her that she and the others had voted on it, and wanted to invite her to join the Champions.

Both Latverians were shocked, and Victoria was so excited that her father had to hold her down to keep her from displacing her bandages. After she settled down, she looked at her father with a pleading expression. After a few moments, Doom relented. He said that keeping her in Latveria would only be restricting her potential now, and learning of both the strengths and weaknesses of the outside world would be beneficial to her. After Victoria hugged her father, he went on to state that though he was willing, he had a few conditions for the Champions first.

While Victoria was healing, Doom aided Ms. Marvel and the others in freeing the last of their comrades from the coalition. By the time Victoria was back on her feet, the coalition had been crushed, which meant that it was time for Doom’s requested talk with the Champions. Victoria and Doom met with the founding Champions: Ms. Marvel, Spiderman, Amadeus Cho, Nova, and Viv Vision. Nadia was also part of the meeting due to being the Champion closest to Victoria. Doom started off by saying that he wanted to let Victoria understand the outside world in its entirety, meaning he also wanted her to attend school, and as such would need a guide. He made it clear that he would not pry into the Champion’s personal lives, but that at least one of them would need to attend the same school. Secondly, while he was willing to let Victoria join the team, under no circumstances would she be taking on hero work without at least one of the others with her. Third, he would be installing a communication module in the Champions mobile bunker that went directly to him. If Victoria was ever in danger that the team couldn’t handle, he expected them to let him know immediately.

The result was Victoria enrolling in Coles Academic High School with Kamala as a transfer student, on paper from Sokovia.

Skills: Victoria learned the basics of life under her father, but most of her true potential was not achieved until she was able to interact with the heroes more freely, as a member of the Champions.

  • Genius Level Intellect: Victoria displayed evidence of a genius level intellect when she was very young, a trait that Doom highly encouraged. While not quite the same level as her father or Richards, she is able to hold her own amongst many of the most intelligent beings in the world, regularly getting into arguments with Amadeus Cho over who is more intelligent.
  • Peak Human Conditioning: Like her father, Victoria was trained to always be ready for a fight.
  • Indominable Will: As part of her father’s training, Victoria was disciplined to strengthen her mind and harden defenses against telepaths. During a meeting with Charles Xavier, she requested his aid in testing her defenses. Xavier was able to pierce the defenses, but only after over an hour passed with no interruptions.
  • Swordsmanship: Victoria took to the sword like a duck to water. Her skill with the weapon outclassed her father within 2 years of training, but Victoria still thought she could be better. After joining the Champions, Victoria was able to seek training under the most skilled sword fighters alive, including The Black Knight, Wolverine, and even Gamora.
  • Master Martial Artist: While Victoria prefers the sword, she is no pushover when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. After joining the Champions, she expanded her fighting style to incorporate aspects of her new teammates.
  • Multilingual: Victoria’s first language was Latverian, but she is equally fluent in the other languages of Latveria, as well as English.
  • Engineer: Doom taught Victoria the basics of robotics and other aspects of engineering. When she joined the Champions, she was initially relegated to a tech support role to prevent her father from worrying, where she began designing new gadgets for the team, including upgrades to Miles’ web shooters.

Powers:

  • Magic: Victoria learned magic directly from her father at first, later going on to study under Doctor Strange and other Masters of the Mystic Arts. Her abilities include energy blasts, forcefields, Spell casting and reversing, healing, and Telekinesis.

Personality: Despite learning from her father, Victoria never developed the superiority complex or massive ego he had, mostly because Doom made sure that not underestimating an opponent was an early and constant lesson. In addition, Victoria didn’t leave her father’s fortress until she was 15, developing an overwhelming curiosity about the outside world. This curiosity can sometimes manifest itself in the form of child-like excitement. Victoria can be a bit hotheaded, but she will never hesitate to rush into danger to help a friend, something that gives her father constant headaches.

Notes:

I think I got a pretty good idea of what Doom would have been like if this had actually happened. Obviously the timeline is a little more chaotic than ideal, but overall understandable. Constructive criticism is welcome, trolls are not.

Chapter Text

Name: The Revolutionary hero, Rebel

Real Name: Izuku Midoriya

Other names:

  • Hacker ID: Cypher 9
  • Mikumo Akatani – Public Alias

Quirk: none

Skills:

  • Hacking – Able to routinely break into the Hero Commission’s database and steal files.
  • Firearms – Inspired by his adoptive mother, Izuku is familiar enough with firearms to perform well with most, though he is most skilled with duel pistols.
  • Hand to hand – After finding the Quirkless Vigilante Knuckleduster, Izuku demanded training, becoming quite proficient with using his body as a weapon.
  • Analysis – Like in the Prime timeline, Izuku kept up with his analysis of Heroes and their quirks, though this would end up being used in a more practical sense when the Hero Commission put a bounty on him, leading to lower ranked heroes attempting to hunt him down.
  • Invention - Izuku creates most of his own gear. Pre-UA, he creates most of his gear out of scrap and tech stolen from the Commission, and once he gets into the support course he gradually cycles out his hodgepodge gear for more streamlined gear made with professional tools.

Relatives: Inko Midoriya (birth mother, deceased), Hisashi Midoriya (birth father, abandoned), Kaina Tsutsumi (adopted mother, incarcerated)

History

Izuku Midoriya’s story remains the same until his quirk assessment. When deemed quirkless, his father lashes out, becoming violent and angry, claiming Inko must have cheated on him for this to happen. The situation escalates until Inko is shoved into a wall corner, causing a head injury. Hisashi is initially taken aback, but resolves himself and uses his influence to establish an alibi. The result is despite Izuku’s claims, Inko’s death is ruled a suicide due to the shock of a quirkless child.

Hisashi moves with Izuku to another city, where he is quickly abandoned on the streets. He lives on his own for a week before being found by Lady Nagant, who takes the boy in. She raises him for five years before she is framed for murder of another hero. Izuku, 9 years old, refuses to believe the false conviction and resolves to prove her innocence. In doing so, he discovers the many crimes of the Hero Commission, and Heroes in general.

Upon this discovery, Izuku commits to saving the world from itself. He finds allies and mentors, does research, all the whole hiding his true self under the mask of a naïve hero fanboy. At the UA entrance ( UA is a college in this AU), he takes the support course exam rather than hero course, as it gives him both time and an alibi for his Vigilante activities. Like Stain, he also targets corrupt heroes, but in Izuku’s case it involves hijacking TV’s and other electronic devices to expose the crimes of heroes to the whole nation, under the pseudonym Cypher 9

Equipment

  • Disruptor Gauntlets: specialized gloves created by Izuku, based on tech stolen from the Hero Commission. Hitting someone with these devices can temporarily deactivate their quirk. Doesn’t work on mutation quirks.
  • Crawler boots: post UA invention. Based on the movement style of the vigilante known as the Crawler, the boots allow Izuku to glide over the air and scale buildings by skating on them.

Calling Card

  • Rebel leaves a calling card at every scene he gets to, and is how he established his vigilante name.
    • Laude the Hero, fear the villain. But don’t underestimate the Rebel.

Appearance

  • Black armor with dark purple bodysuit underneath.
  • a high tech rifle on his back and two dual pistols at his side.
  • On his hands are a pair of gauntlets that glow shamrock green and pulse with energy.
  • Short black hair
  • Wears a mask that covers lower face like a ninja and a hood, as well as a domino mask with white-out lenses

Other Timeline Notes:

In addition, due to the death of Inko Midoriya shocking him out of his blindness, Bakugo doesn’t develop into a bully like in the main timeline . He is still brash, hot-headed, and somewhat arrogant, but tempered by the understanding that heroes are there to save lives, not beat the bad guy. He believes stopping the villain is the best way, but still prioritizes the rescue.
