Work Text:
He was supposed to go back to his apartment, and get ready to go to a bar with his twin brother, and the rest of his friends. While everyone seemed really excited about it, Atsumu didn’t feel the same way.
It was funny, since years ago, he would be the first in line to go from bar to bar, to get wasted. But there was something missing, and Atsumu just felt empty on the inside.
Shouyou. It was Shouyou, who was still in Brazil. He had gotten used to his presence, while celebrating his birthday, and now, everything just seems pointless. He knew he was being really selfish, and an asshole to his friends, but he couldn’t help but feel like that.
However, what was really annoying him was the fact Shouyou had not attempted to talk to him during the whole day. He was aware of the time difference, but he had hoped that his boyfriend would at least have a couple of minutes to say hi to him. He wondered if Shouyou had actually forgotten about him.
No, no, no. That was not possible. Shouyou would never… Or would he? No, no, no. Atsumu shook his head, to shoo away those horrible thoughts. He had complete trust in his boyfriend, and there had to be a good reason for Shouyou to be radio silent.
Dreadful. He took his keys out of his bag, and had considered just not going to the bar with the rest. Perhaps, he would just get wasted all alone. After all, there would be more birthdays to celebrate together. Hopefully.
However, the moment he opened the door to his apartment, Atsumu saw a path made of candles and petals. He raised an eyebrow, wondering if he had entered the wrong apartment. If that were the case, then he would talk to his landlord about the fact that the key could open other places from the building.
“Hello?” Atsumu asked, after taking off his shoes.
He knew that he was being stupid, and this is how he would get murdered. Maybe this was a trap, and he was going straight to it.
“Hello? Is someone out there?” Atsumu could hear the romantic music coming from his room.
He decided to just stay there, a couple of meters away from his bedroom. He was starting to get annoyed.
“Samu, if yer tryin’ to take a piss on me, it’s not funny!” Atsumu put both of his hands on his hips, and waited for a couple of minutes. Maybe his brother wanted to prank him, and then upload it to TikTok.
Giggles. So many giggles came from the master bedroom, and Atsumu knew exactly who they belonged to. He thought he was about to have a heart attack. Was he hallucinating?
No time to think, he just ran to the bedroom, and almost fell into the floor. Candles were lighting up the room, and the bed was covered in petals. And on the bed, wearing nothing at all, was…
“Shouyou-kun?!”
“Happy birthday, Tsumu!” Shouyou jumped out of bed, and went straight to hug his boyfriend.
“When did ya—? How did ya—?” Atsumu was so confused about the whole thing, still thinking that perhaps he was dreaming.
“It doesn’t matter.” Shouyou placed a kiss on Atsumu’s lips. “I came to celebrate your birthday, Tsumu-san.”
To hell with the plans to go to a bar with his friends. They could celebrate it another time. They would understand that a pretty exceptional situation had happened, and he had his hands all over it.
“How about I go and prepare dinner, while you take a shower?” Shouyou suggested, before laying a kiss over Atsumu’s neck. God, he had missed being so close to him.
“I’m hungry, but for something else.” A grin appeared on his face, and then placed Shouyou in bed. “Happy birthday to me!”
