Skye: Child of Destiny

Summary:

The Darkness has returned, from one world to the next.

In the Kingdom of Sky, the Eye of Eden spews forth its shards of corruption, and Sky Children gather in the wake of the Shattering, to cleanse what they can, as futile as it may be.

In the Sol System, the Black Fleet arrives with its strangling grasp, edging in on the Traveler to bring about a second Collapse, and inviting Guardians to step beyond Light.

Some time has passed since then, and the Light calls out. Through Bird and Machine, it pierces the veil between dimensions, and a Child of the Light finds themselves in an unfamiliar place, where the Light has the power to fight back…

And so begins the curious adventure of a Child of the Light and brave Guardians that wield it.

Chapter Text

Introduction

Hello readers! Before we begin, we’d like to give a brief run down in case you aren’t familiar with one game in this fic or another. If you know both, feel free to continue straight ahead. Otherwise, we’ve compiled some backgrounds to get you up to speed.

For Sky players:

The story of Destiny takes place in our solar system hundreds of years in the future. In this world, a mysterious moon-like entity called the Traveler arrived, gifting certain individuals the ability to wield the powers of the Light. Those chosen by the Traveler manifested its power in three ways: Solar fire, electric Arc energy, and the gravitational pull of Void. They eventually became known as Guardians, defenders of Humanity fighting alongside each other for a better future. Oh, and they’re immortal and also like to dance a lot.

If you want a more expansive look into the lore, this video is a summary of the main story of Destiny so far. Highly recommended, it covers most of what you’d need to know, everything else will be explained as the story progresses.

For Destiny players:

Sky, in many ways, parallels Destiny’s story. It has a background steeped in the struggles of Light and Dark throughout the world, though the specifics are heavily up for interpretation. Given this, there is hardly any canonical material in the game, which is why much of the Sky content in this fic is headcanon.

It’s generally agreed upon that the Sky Children were sent to restore a once grand civilisation now lost to the Darkness. They’re born from falling stars and can be reborn through the Light if they die, albeit with far less ease than Guardians.

If you want a better grasp on what the world of Sky is like, we recommend simply playing the game. It’s a short experience, and this fic will spoil the ending either way.
