Miss Porter Goes to Washington

Summary:

Gina leaves Utah with her mom in the middle of sophomore year, exchanging one town for another just as they've always done. This time isn't any different than the others. It's not.

Notes:

100-word drabble challenge? Check. Next time I’ll try to convince myself of the joys of dialogue. And 1000+ words.

Happy Rina Day to all who observe.

Work Text:

Being alone hurts. But I was doing it.

Until, suddenly, there was you. Making me laugh and understanding about my family and the constant moving.

Everything.

Cutting you off was routine. Survival. But now…

I’m considering answering your sweet, stupid texts. I think I need you to know that I would choose you if I could.

Washington is nice, I guess. You would find the lack of good sushi appalling.

Saying “I miss you” seems insufficient when my heart is protesting being ripped from yours.

Can you hear it?

I wish you could hear it.

I wish you were here.
