Work Text:

It started as a normal day of patrol.

Peter liked patrolling in queens, he was now far beyond your friendly neighborhood spiderman now that he’d done a lot more than just be in a small area. Heck, even if not everyone knew it Tony and Stephen had shared custody of him with Aunt May. He had a wider reach than just the small area he used to be in.

But some days it was nicer to limit his reach. When he had been to space, when he’d almost lost one of his dads, when there was so much left of that trauma it was nice to forget it sometimes. Nice to forget the fact that the half the world disappeared for five years including him. It kind of sucked to think about, even if he still wanted to help out in protecting the world. Days spent relaxing helping out cats stuck in trees, helping old ladies cross the street, the things he used to do was just… nice some days. Nice when he didn’t have to give his guardians heart attacks about him getting stabbed. Most days at least, muggers could be wild cards.

The Peter from a few years ago would have hated that, he knew he used to be stubborn, could understand why Tony had worried about him. The world things? Those were so complicated, hard to deal with even on the best of days. He didn’t hate doing them, this just ended up being a lot nicer, for him and his family looking after him.

His whole family.

Before… all of this he’d had a lot on his plate. He was an orphan dealing with the loss of his uncle Ben, that along with brand new powers he didn’t know how to handle, and life wasn’t easy. He became spiderman on a hoodie and rudimentary web fluid he made himself. It wasn’t exactly the easiest either when wearing a binder on patrols wasn’t exactly safe. It didn’t mean he didn’t do it but his ribs really hated him for it, super healing or not.

Then he met Tony, it was admittedly maybe not the best situation, but he met him, he met his dad. Tony started distant but he really had become his dad, it was… nice when Peter didn’t have that before. He came out as trans, and Tony built him a nanotech binder that he could actually go out in. He was safe, he was secure, and it was perfect. Then the worst happened.

The war… everything that happened wasn’t easy, Tony almost died, Peter himself had died for five years before being brought back. He couldn’t regret it though. Because that was when they met his other dad, Stephen Strange. It was… odd? Having a sorcerer as a dad, especially when his powers were just an extension of himself. It was cool though and in a family of superheroes he fit right in with the rest of them. It was kind of funny when his dads found out about Flash. Scary too, but he was still touched that they cared about him getting bullied that much.

Then there was Loki, the chaos god who’d ended up become a kind of brother to him. Everyone had been distrustful of him at first but he was nice now and really only caused chaos by helping him or Shuri with relatively harmless pranks. He was working to be a good or at least better person and sometimes even helped him with patrols which he was doing right now. He was just glad to have everyone in his family and Loki was just another example of that.

Honestly the whole team kind of became part of his extended family. It was nice having so many people looking after him and making sure he was ok. He needed that a lot.

He was happy, he had a whole family who worried about him, and he was so glad he had them there helping him. Of course, when his patrol went off track, they were the first he thought about, the first he worried about. That and the only things that got him through the next few days.

He had been ready to head home, it was approaching his curfew and generally it had also been a very uneventful day in general, but he’d heard a sound in an alleyway that he felt the need to check out. Sparing a glance up to where he knew Loki was hiding out, he headed into the ally. Only to find out it was empty… weird.

He was about to step out when his spidey sense jolted up out of the blue and he reacted only to be too late and have a hand shoved over his mouth and he arms held against his back moments before he could call out to Loki. Though he could see across the street where he was and with a jolt, he realized that he hadn’t been the only one apprehended. Loki was there lying unconscious with someone standing over him and Peter’s heart dropped when he realized how planned this whole thing had to be. This… wasn’t good.

-----------------------------------------------------

Tony wasn’t one who liked to admit what he fears were. That was partially because they could be exploited but mostly because he didn’t want to appear weak. Trauma was bullshit and even after so many years of dealing with it he was never fully ok. Maybe that was because it never really stopped ending honestly. Brain magic, his dad being a dick, his surrogate dad trying to kill him? Oh, he’d been through a lot but as he let people closer, he started relaxing bit by tiny bit. Baby steps that he had to take one at a time.

He got close to people though, he found a son in Peter and had started opening up. Though when Peter had died… it wasn’t easy, not as a dad who had just started opening up to the idea of being one. Peter came back though and Tony himself didn’t die. He had his son back and all he wanted to do was protect him now. He may have ended up being a bit of an overprotective dad now but honestly everyone in Peter’s space ended up being protective so at least he wasn’t alone in stressing out about the boy. The only other two who ended up being as protective were May because, obviously, and Stephen because god damn it he was also his dad and they both deserved to be stressed.

Having Stephen stress alongside him was helpful because Tony didn’t have to have panic attacks alone when Peter did stupid shit. He loved the boy but man, he was about to get gray hairs and he did not want to deal with that, he was too good looking to get old!

So of course, when May called in a panic telling him Peter hadn’t come home it was Stephen who comforted him. When Peter was missing for several days, Stephen was there to ground him as Tony went all terrified father. When Tony couldn’t hold back the fearful sobbing Stephen was there to hold him and reassure him that everything would be ok.

They were both terrified for their son but when one of them had the first reaction to panic and the other had a reaction of calm reasoning it was nice for Tony to have a backdrop that wasn’t just both of them screaming because their son was missing. Still, this was the worst, the absolute worst to even start to deal with. Because while Tony hated sharing his fears one of them was of his son getting hurt. Peter was his world and when even Loki hadn’t come back there really was a struggle to remain hopeful in this situation.

Tony was on his hourly across the floor, he really was going to wear out the carpet, when Stephen stormed into the room with his phone.

“Tony there’s a ransom video, they’re… they’re threatening to unmask Peter and he doesn’t look good.” Tony froze as he processed the information before running to his side and looking to the video they had been sent.

The video… wasn’t pretty, Stephen wasn’t wrong when he said Peter didn’t look good, even from the paused screen and with Peter’s face covered everything else showed how hurt he was. It broke his heart to see his son like that, as well as filled it with a surge of anger. When Stephen played it and he could hear his son just whimpering in the background it was worse. The video itself was terrifying though because it made him realize the gravity of the situation. They knew everything about them, they already knew who Peter was under the mask and that he was Tony’s son. They knew Loki patrolled with him and they had him too if it couldn’t be any worse.

It was terrifying knowing the situation Peter was in. It wasn’t worse than not knowing, at least now he knew Peter was alive, but he also knew his son was hurt and that was almost as bad. He would pay any sum, but they wanted more. They wanted weapons and he knew he couldn’t do that. He’d already dealt with that; he’d already dealt with the destruction that caused. He wasn’t going to give them what they wanted but he wasn’t going to let them hurt Peter either.

He was going to save his son.

-------------------------------------------------

Peter wanted to go home.

He’d been here for 3 days, and he hurt everywhere, he could barely remember where he was and he just wanted his dads back. He could hear screams across the hall, and he knew it was Loki but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. They were both weak, they were both hurt, and he didn’t know if they would ever get out of here. He trusted his dads, he trusted that they would rescue him, but everything hurt, and he didn’t know if there would be anything left to rescue.

He didn’t want to hurt like this anymore. He just wanted to go home, he just wanted to be in his dads’ hands.

Everything hurt…

-------------------------------

Stephen was angry, he was angry seeing his son in this state, he was angry at those who did this to him, and he was about to crash it down on them.

It was ridiculously easy finding where Peter was when they had the video, between magic, Tony’s ability to weave tech like magic, and several super spies they found them in no time. And when they did? Oh, they rained the power of two angry dads on them. Peter was his son; Tony was his husband, and he wasn’t going to let anyone touch the people he would tear down the world for. Or the bad parts of it anyways, he still protected the world, and he had a duty to that.

Letting Tony deal with the bastards who did this he went to find Peter. He wanted to rain more hurt on them, but his powers were the most suited to searching large areas since he could warp between rooms and search them quicker that way.

Searching rapidly, he was not prepared for what he would find. Peter looked so small curled up in a cell and seeing that, seeing how lifeless he was he was hit with a jolt of fear. One he pushed down to gather up his son. He checked for a pulse and breathed a lot easier when he found it even if Peter was still unconscious and in a terrible state. He was ok and hopefully Loki would be too, he warped Peter to the hospital quickly and then he continued to look for the other person trapped in this whole mess, not willing to leave either of them.

-------------------------------

Peter woke up to the smell of antiseptic and a bright light above him. He felt tired but so much better than he had when he’d last been conscious. He looked around to see his sleeping dad and his other one in a chair beside him reading a book.

“D… r da… d?” He managed out with a bit of trouble.

His dad looked up immediately and seeing that he was ok seemed to slump with relieve. “Oh Peter…thank god. I was so worried, we both were, I barely got Tony to sleep even with him being in the same room as you.”

Peter smiled at the comfortable and familiar tone of his dad’s voice. He had missed it, he had missed him and realized he was finally home. Though he frowned when he remembered parts of what happened. “Lo…ki?”

His dad smiled back and ran a gentle hand through his hair, eyes holding a softness to them, “He’s alright, you both are, just… need to heal up for a while.”

That was good… He was glad Loki was also ok. He was glad that he was home. Drifting back off to sleep he had the best sleep he had since he’d been taken. He was safe now, they both were and he was home, he was finally home.
