Chapter Text
Greg only had a moment to think of how stupid he was for pushing the girl away from the bomb rather than just grabbing her hand and pulling her along as he ran past before his entire world became agony, feeling like someone was ripping him apart cell by cell as the bomb did it's work, the space around him becoming weird and distorted as it did whatever it was designed to do.
The last thing Greg saw of Earth Bet was the girl he'd saved looking at him in horror as blood exploded out of his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears before everything was replaced by a beautiful night sky and Greg felt himself falling to earth, finally losing consciousness as his body began to totally fail, not seeing as a purple energy encircled him before he seemed to blink out of existence.
On Earth Bet Amy Dallon, better known by her cape name Panacea, stared at the spot where the boy who'd saved her life had been, still in shock over her own near similar death.
She didn't even know his name.
Arceus was vigilant, its many arms moving to make sure that its realm remained safe, plucking invading parasites before they could find purchase and depositing them into realities that were already infested with the world ending invaders, as it had for the years since one of them fell to many earths, refusing to let the beings that thrived on conflict infest its charges.
This vigil allowed it to notice the spatial distortion that left a dying human falling to earth, trailing blood behind them as they fell downwards, catching them in its power.
One of its plates hummed with psychic energy, allowing Arceus a view into the human's mind as it used its power to halt the flow of time around the human it had saved.
What Arceus saw made its heart ache, a lifetime of loneliness on a slowly dying world before throwing their own life away to save a complete stranger.
This 'Greg Veder' deserved better than to simply die in misery, Arceus decided as it began to draw on its endless power to heal the wounds of the human it had saved, but quickly noticed two problems upon removing the traumatic memories of the human's near death experience.
The first was rather simple to fix, a frailty that even humans of its own realm lacked that was cured by breaking down some of the age the body had taken on, shrinking the once fifteen year old human back into the body they had as a ten year old, but using those five years worth of time to make the human's body more hearty.
The second brought an internal frown to Arceus, for in the human's mind wriggled the mooring of one of the Parasites, deeply rooted into its future victim if Arceus did not act.
Many of its thousand arms moved, teasing and twisting and pulling at the connection the Parasite had made to the human it was now determined to save, and after what felt like years within its timeless realm Arceus was finally triumphant, pulling the Parasite free without harming its now former victim before shunting it into the dimension it could touch farthest away from its own.
Content with the results of its work, Arceus nodded to itself before depositing the human safely through an ultra wormhole that would drop them to earth, before returning to its vigil over its realm.
It was a normal, boring night on Ula'ula, and that was how Nanu preferred it, lazing about and staring up at the stars with one of his Meowth happily napping on his chest.
So of course the universe had to do something to make things more "interesting", in the form of an ultra wormhole ripping open some distance away and dropping something out of it, spooking his Meowth in the process and making her dig her claws into his chest as she jolted awake from the sound of a hole being ripped in the fabric of reality before looking at him like he'd personally offended her.
"Sorry about that, girl," the Dark type Kahuna apologized, strongly considering just ignoring whatever fell out of the wormhole before letting out a long, tired sigh and beginning to get up so he could go and investigate, "Let's go see what was rude enough to wake you up." And with that, he returned his Meowth to her Pokeball and was on his way.
Ignoring the Pokemon that had been spooked by the sound of the ultra wormhole appearing Nanu causally walked towards where whatever had fallen from the wormhole had most likely landed, finally approaching the clearing that had been directly under the wormhole.
Soft snoring was the first thing that Nanu heard as he approached it, only for the man to blink as he saw the source.
Laying in the center of the clearing was some kid, happily sawing logs as several Pokemon approached him curiously, including several Cutieflies circling above his head like something out of a cartoon, a Minccino dusting the still sleeping boy off, jumping slightly every time the kid giggled in his sleep, and a Crabrawler which seemed mighty annoyed.
Then, with a sound of two coconuts being bonked together the Crabrawler made it's annoyance known to the boy that had probably woke it up by bringing its boxing glove like claw directly down onto the boy's face.
All the Pokemon scattered less than a second later as the boy jolted up ramrod straight, showing an impressive knowledge of swears as he clutched his probably at least bruised nose.
"Where'd you learn to swear like that, kid?" Nanu asked, finally growing bored of watching the kid swear up a storm.
"Huh!? I'm alive?" the kid said in confusion before grinning, jumping up to his feet and doing a strange dance. "Yeah, not dead! Greg Veder lives to see another day! Take that Bakuda, your bombs aren't that scary!"
The kid, apparently named Greg Veder, continued to dance for a moment before looking around in confusion, "But where in the heck am I? This doesn't look like Brockton Bay at all..." he muttered to himself, before seeming to finally realize that Nanu was there, blushing as he immediately stopped dancing. "Ah, erm, hello there sir. Can you tell me where I am?"
"You're on Ula'ula Island kid, one of the Alolan Islands," Nanu explained casually. "You mentioned bombs? What's up with that?"
"Alolan Islands, I've never heard of those before, and the name of the Island sounds more Hawaiian than anything?" Greg asked more than said, looking lost.
"Well, that pretty much confirms it then, you're a faller," Nanu said simply.
"Is that supposed to be a joke about how I fell out of the sky?" Greg asked, sounding slightly hurt. "Because if so, there's a place and a time, man."
"What? No, that's just what we call people who fall through ultra wormholes here," Nanu replied tiredly. "Anyways, I'm Nanu, nice to meet you or whatever."
"Wait, so people just appear from other worlds in your universe too? Do any of them have a kinda sideways C tattoo and look super weird?" Greg asked, looking like he was ready to bombard Nanu with questions.
"No," Nanu replied flatly. "Is that something that happens on your world?"
"Kinda, we call them Case 53's, or just Monstrous Capes, on account of the super powers," Greg responded, before his eyes widened. "Wait, DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE SUPER POWERS NOW!?"
Nanu cringed as he watched this so far incredibly annoying Faller kid jump around, do random poses, and seem to try and force his body to do something, only to blush when it made him fart.
"Fallers generally don't get any super powers, other than becoming magnets for Ultra Beasts," Nanu sighed, already wishing he could hand this kid off to somebody else. "So you're probably going to need a team of strong Pokemon for protection."
"What? C'mon dude, please don't try and prank me like that, everyone knows Pokemon aren't real," the kid said dismissively. "It's just some Earth Aleph game for little kids!"
Nanu raised an eyebrow at that, before pulling a Pokeball out of his pocket, releasing Meowth from within it, and watching as the kid froze at the sight of the Alolan variant of Meowth.
"Oh," The so far extremely talkative kid said, seemingly at a loss for words. "That's a really weird looking Meowth."
Offended by this, Meowth hissed before jumping onto the kid's face and beginning to scratch it, making him run around in circles flailing his arms, before jumping off just in time for the kid to run face first into a tree and knock himself out.
"..." Nanu looked at the unconscious kid before letting out a annoyed sigh. "Now I'm gonna have to carry this kid the rest of the way home."
His Meowth was not at all repentant.
