Chapter Text

Author's Note: I am totally jumping on the train wreck that is Michael being the biggest asshole in the celestial realm, and well... I need the brothers caring for baby Mammon so I made this. Hope you enjoy.

Lucifer silently strode ahead of his five brothers, they were silent as they walked. To get a summon from Lord Diavolo, the future king of the devildom, was an urgent matter. Even though they had no idea what it was about, Lucifer knew it was serious from the tone of the Prince’s tone of voice.

“What do you think this is all about?” Asmo whispered to his brothers.

“Probably some huge plan of tri-realm friendship.” Belphie yawned. “He seems obsessed with that.”

“Behave, all of you.” Lucifer warned. “He never said what it was about, but we all needed to get here as soon as possible, so hurry up.” His brothers rolled his eyes but did pick up the pace a little.

Barbatos was waiting for them at the front doors, welcoming them in with no words, just a dark expression. He continued to say nothing as he led them to Diavolo’s private study, but quickly leaving again. The brothers were all freaked out a little by the stewards' behaviour, Barbatos had always been a friendly figure that would greet all with a calm smile. And looking at Diavolo, they could all tell the news wasn’t going to be any better. He nodded to the brothers and motioned for them to take a seat, the youngest five did but Lucifer remained standing.

“What is this about?” He demanded, Diavolo would normally brush him off with a joke and grin, instead he grimly passed Lucifer a letter. With his brother's eyes on him, Lucifer opened it and began to read it himself.

The five brothers watched as Lucifer’s face actually changed from annoyed disinterest to pure wrath as he read the letter, Diavolo watched him with a small look of understanding, and didn’t look too surprised as Lucifer destroyed the letter he held.

“Where is he?” He asked, tone cold, but his eyes burning furiously.

“Barbatos?” Diavolo called, and his helpful steward appeared once more and led Lucifer from the room. Leaving the other brothers sitting in stunned silence. Levi instead stood, seeing how he was the second oldest, he glanced at Diavolo, normally too nervous to speak to him, but this whole thing was off and he was bothered by it.

“What was that all about?” Levi asked, his tone not like Lucifer’s demand, more inquiring.

“Well, good thing he sent two, guess he knew Lucifer would act like that. But it's not something I want to say out loud… it makes me sick just knowing this isn’t a nightmare.”  Diavolo pulled out another letter. “To simplify it before the main matter, before you guys fell, and even before Lillith stole the apple to save the man she loved, your father was working on creating another brother, something about Lillith always saying she wished she'd see you all as younger brothers. But the creation of your 7th brother wasn’t completed until you had been long fallen, he didn’t want to just wipe the child from existence when he knew he would be a good child. So, when he was perfect as your brother, he asked Micheal to take care of him…” Diavolo frowned, before handing the letter over. “I can’t read the rest aloud.” Leviathan took it, his brothers gathered around him to read it. Their hearts sank as they read what Micheal did to this mysterious other brother. Asmo was teared up by the time Levi lowered the letter trembling in anger. The Avatar of Envy glared at Diavolo, reminding the Demon Prince just why Leviathan was the general of the army of angels in the great war.

“Where is he?” Levi asked.

The brothers stood by the door, as Lucifer was sitting next to a large bed, looking defeated and broken, they hadn’t seen him like this since Lillith. In the middle of the bed, clearly injured from the fall, was a tiny-chubby-cherub. Beel was the first to move, but his knees bulked at the realisation that the new brother their father had made was still a baby in angel senses… and that Michael decided to throw a baby from the celestial realm. No cherub would be able to fly at that age. Belphie grabbed his arm, but knowing he wouldn’t be able to keep Beel standing, he knelt so Beel would keep calm enough not to go on a rampage.

“I don’t really get it…” Satan muttered softly, somewhat ashamed at feeling such. Lucifer bowed his head, eyes not moving from the tiny fallen-angel before him.

“It means… our father spent over 2000 years to create us a brother… and he barely got to live as an angel for 100 years…” Levi spoke, eyes void of emotion.

“Wrong… he still has his first feathers.” Lucifer commented, lifting a single white feather as it looked more like white fluff, which was slightly charred. “Meaning…”

“He never even hit 20 years in the celestial realm.” Asmodeus covered his mouth. Satan, whilst he didn’t completely understand the whole situation, understood well enough that this angel Micheal had just taken a baby and thrown him away, because of what? What gave anyone, angel, human or demon the right to throw away a child so young. He knew his existence was a shock to the brothers, who in a sense were more his uncles as he was created from Lucifer, they still tried to raise him with love… even if they struggled. They tried, they failed, but they kept it up to get it right. His life wasn’t perfect… but they loved him nonetheless. Satan mentally shook his head, eyes on the tiny form on the bed. A baby brother…

“They called him Mammon, right?” Satan asked, Lucifer nodded a small smile graced his features as he looked at the fallen cherub with adoration.

“Seems Father wanted him to take after me too… This little Cherub was born a Mourningstar.” Lucifer said. “Six wings… Barbatos doesn’t know how they’ve healed, if at all… we’re going to need to wait a bit to find out.”

“He’ll be okay though, right?” Belphie asked, Lucifer didn’t reply to that, and they understood. They knew little of what Michael did to this child, their baby brother,  but maybe that was a good thing.

“So, first things first… there is a room between mine and Levi’s we can turn that into his room. He’s a baby so, we need to baby proof the place again, remind the terror Satan caused when we forgot to do that last time.” Asmodeus chuckled, Satan rolled his eyes. Lucifer threw the fourth brother his wallet.

“Buy whatever you need too. Spoil him as much as you want.” Lucifer said. “See if you can get a plush of each of our signature animals.”  He suggested, Asmo gasped.

“Perfect, brothers, emergency shopping trip for the baby! We need a bed, clothes, books, and toys. Let's get to work!” They nodded in agreement, Lucifer smiled softly.

Lucifer was glad he left his brothers to deal with the rest, as the oldest it was his duty to make sure all his brothers were safe, and right now, that was purely focused on the tiny form in front of him. Barbatos had worked some more of his magic and a lot of the wounds were mostly healed, some even turned to scars, but he would still need some additional healing to make sure he will be okay. Lucifer moved a lock of white fluffy hair from his brother's face. Mammon scrunched up his nose at the movement, but relaxed, hands clutching at the pillows of the bed. Lucifer smiled, he adored him already. He was perfect, Lilith would have loved him… he hoped his other brothers would love him… but he had a feeling they were going to be pre-occupied with potential murder plans for Michael. Not that he was planning to stop them - maybe it was a good thing they were banned from the celestial realm… if they weren’t Lucifer would have likely headed there first. Mammon let out a small sneeze that caused the older demon to jump, he sighed. Mammon, still fast asleep, yawned and clutched the pillow tighter.

“You're a cute lil monster, give you that.” Lucifer mumbled, Mammon had a softly tanned skin tone, making his hair stand out more, but the wounds had now left light coloured scars over his tiny body and Lucifer wished he could have saved him from them. He sat back with a yawn. Pulling out a second letter his father had written about Mammon’s fall, knowing it was a better time than any to learn some more about the newest member of the family.

Mammon remembered being scared, then so much pain… but then safety. He weakily opened his eyes to find himself in a  fancy room. He pushed himself into a sitting position. He looked around the large room, looking up so much he fell onto his back with a small huff. Mammon looked at the ceiling with a pout before rolling over and sitting again, until he noticed he wasn’t alone. On a chair next to the bed was a man all in black, and fast asleep. Mammon watched him with large eyes as if seeing if he posed a threat. He didn’t look like Michael. Mammon pouted, and got to work crawling towards the man, but not realising the edge of the bed of the drop to the floor.

Lucifer startled awake in time to catch the falling cherub, His heart had felt like it had burst as he held the just as shocked child. He sighed and lifted the child up. Mammon looked back with his ocean blue eyes sparkling with gold. The cherub watched him curiously as Lucifer placed him on his lap. Lucifer shook his head lightly, but smiled at him fondly.

“You’re awake at least, that's good.” He smiled kindly, petting the white fluff of the cherub. “I’m Lucifer, your big brother. From now on, if anyone hurts you - they’ll deal with me.” Lucifer promised softly, holding his brother closer. Mammon was a little afraid of the idea of a new brother… Michael had said his brothers were monsters, that he was one too… but this brother didn’t seem like a monster, he was warm, and kind. Mammon yawned from his place cradled in Lucifer’s arm and got a grip of his shirt, before napping again. Lucifer smiled, and kissed the top of his head. “I will burn the three realms to keep you safe,” He promised.
