Dazai walked through the hallways with his headphones on. Completely blocking out his surroundings and just listening to his music moving his feet with the beat until he was interrupted by a teacher to take them off. He grunted but complied and took them off. When Chuuya ran up next to him.
"Idiot they tell you every time you have them on to take them off. So why bother?" Chuuya said walking with him to their next class since they have the same schedule.
"I don't have to worry about getting in trouble, remember? My dad's the principal. I'll never get suspended" Dazai said putting his hands behind his head as they walked.
"Manipulative asshole" Chuuya cursed as if he doesn't benefit because Dazai's dad is the principal. Even though he gets into a shit ton of fights he nevers gets suspended.

It was the middle of class Dazai and Chuuya we're passing notes like usual.
'Come over?'
'why'
'Cause I wanna beat you at every game Chuuya'
'fuck off.'
'?'
'fine I'll come over'
'Great! I can't wait for the day to be over'
'you need to make more friends you anti-social idiot'
'Nope I'm good! I got Chuuya. Who else do I need?'
'fuck off the teacher is coming around'

Dazai stuffed the note into his binder like he always does with their notes and focuses on his work as the teacher came by to check on his students. Dazai never had to study he always placed #1 in every test they had. Most people thought it was cause he was the principal's son. But no Dazai actually was smart. As he tried to focus on his work and getting it done a note was passed to him asking for him to meet someone at the front of school during lunch.
Once the bell rang of course he told Chuuya to come along. Just in case so people wanted to fight him/ beat him up again. Chuuya agreed and they went to meet this secret person during lunch. When they walked towards the front there were a couple of girls but they soon left so there was just one.
"Uhm I wanted to tell you something." The girl said.
"Well what is it we don't have all day?!" Chuuya said before Dazai could answer.
"Right uhm….I-I really like you Dazai I want to be more than just classmates!" Dazai wasn't shocked neither was Chuuya. It's happened before so Dazai just looked at the girl and said,
"I'm sorry I don't quite feel the same.."
"Why?? Are you seeing someone??? Are you interested in someone else???"
"No I-"
"Don't lie! Just tell me if you are!!"
"Fine yes. I am. Happy? Cause if you are-" Dazai started
"Then we'd like to enjoy our lunch, c'mon Osamu" Chuuya finished. He always seemed to know what Dazai was going to say next. It amazed Dazai as he followed Chuuya, leaving the girl heartbroken.
"Are you actually interested in someone Osamu?"
"Of course not," Dazai said. "I'm just said it cause she kept pressuring me" Of course Dazai was never sure. He's never really had a genuine attraction to anyone before. I mean of course he found certain people attractive (redheads) but he's never actually wanted to be in a relationship. He thinks.
And yeah his face did burn whenever he saw Chuuya sometimes. But that doesn't mean he likes him. Right?
"Alright but let me know if you do. I won't mind if you decide you actually wanna start having serious relationships." Chuuya replied
"Of course I will. I trust you more than anyone I know" Dazai said, wrapping his arm around Chuuya as Chuuya grunted but never restistied or pulled away.

When the iconic duo gets done with school they head to Dazai's house to go play videogames and argue like they always do. Chuuya likes that, they've been doing this for so long his mom doesn't even ask who he's going with, cause she already knows he's hanging with Dazai. Sure Chuuya has other friends but he only goes over Dazai's house. In a way Dazai being antisocial as fuck has them stuck together. Chuuya knows that if he was to say he couldn't hangout Dazai wouldn't have any hard feelings but. He likes hanging with Dazai more than anyone.
They've been through a lot. Chuuya was there when Dazai attempted and almost succeeded. He knows how much of an asshole Dazai's father really is. He helps him when he's having a rough day, and helps putting his bandages on. His knows what really happened to his mom. He knows why Dazai hates going home.
In the same way he was there for Dazai, he has also been there for him. When Chuuya's parents were going through their divorce Dazai helped Chuuya feel a little bit better about the situation. When his other 2 best friends he had in middle school turned on him and made his life a living hell, Dazai was there and ended up using the fact that his father was a well known and respected man to get them expelled. Dazai's the only one that knows how bad of a father he had, how he doesn't even see him anymore, and how he was glad about all of that.
Sometimes people wondered how they stayed best friends for so long. Seeing how most childhood best friends lose touch once they enter middle school but that never seemed to be the case for them. I guess in a way they are stuck together. They've been in multiple friend groups but they were always together even after that friend group departed.
Yeah they are kind of stuck together.
