Work Text:
Pete wouldn’t say that he’s the smartest, but boy is he proud of himself right now for being able to guess Khun Vegas’ computer password. He snickers to himself thinking of how childish it is of Vegas to put one of the classic sex positions as his password, “what is he? 12?” Once he’s done transferring all the files into a thumb drive, he carefully makes sure that everything appears undisturbed before making his way to the door to leave. He straightens his coverall and fixes his posture. He makes it a point to walk tall in confident strides to appear less suspicious. At the end of the corridor, he quickly takes a left turn. However, not a few steps further, he hears someone calling him out, “wait!”
He recognises that voice. Khun Macau! He continues walking before he hears the boy call out to him again, “Pete!” He freezes in his steps and not a few moments later, a strong hand grabs his arm. He turns around, putting on his brightest smile, “Khun Macau!”
“What are you doing here, and what is this get up?” Macau narrow his eyes at Pete suspiciously before continuing, “is my crazy cousin here? Did he send you here?”
Pete laughs, “no, don’t be silly, Khun Macau. Khun Noo is not here. I’m here to deliver some items.”
By now Macau is full blown suspicious of him, “what items?”
The older quietly curses himself inside for that stupid excuse, “just some items,” he answers while keeping the huge smile on his face, which more or less makes him even more suspicious.
“Pete, what exactly are you doing here? I should go get Hia and let him know you’re here,” the last bits of his sentence trail off as he walks away. Pete immediately grabs his arm, “oh Khun Macau, you don’t have to do that, it’s nothing really.”
Macau turns around to face him, “I don’t believe you. I’ll let Hia decide.”
Pete grabs his arm tighter, “Khun Macau, please trust me and don’t tell Khun Vegas. I’ll do anything you want!” The boy raises one of his eyebrows and a smirk starts forming, “Did you say anything?”
Inhaling a breath so deep he almost feels like he’s suffocating, Pete nods as he locks eyes with the boy, “yes, anything. But I should really go now.”
“Don’t think of running away, I know exactly where to find you,” Macau says this as he brings his hand up to hold Pete’s hand that is holding his arm. Pete sighs and nods once more before letting go of the boy’s arm and shuffling away.
---
The very next day, he thinks he saw Macau by the fish pond in the garden. He sneaks away from Khun after informing Arm that he has something to take care of before making his way to the garden. And true enough, the boy is there. He greets him as he approaches him.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Pete,” a frown on his face.
Pete smiles apologetically, “I’m sorry, Khun Macau. You know how it is with Khun Noo. I did not forget you. What can I do for you today?”
“Do you like Khun that much?” Macau questions.
“Eh, what do you mean? He’s my boss, I like him enough,” Pete answers truthfully without understanding what’s going on.
Macau huffs, “don’t talk about him in front of me again, Pete.”
The bodyguard blinks in disbelief and he hesitantly nods to indicate he understands. Before he manages to put any words out, Macau continues, “I’m jealous. You’re my boyfriend now. You can’t talk about another man in front of me.”
Pete can’t help himself and he lets out a loud, “HUH?” The confusion grows when the boy steps closer to him and takes his hand and links their fingers together. “You said you’ll do anything I want, and I want you to be my boyfriend.”
Choking on his own saliva, Pete coughs out and uses his free hand to cover his mouth. He can feel the heat creeping on his face, and his stomach churning. To be honest he doesn’t even know why, but his heart is jumping out through his throat. Macau stares at his bright red face and squeezes his hand, “my boyfriend is pretty even when he’s coughing!”
The older man watches the boy puts his hand in his pocket to produce a cell phone, “I know you can’t have a personal phone, but I insist you keep this so we can contact each other. We are a couple now after all!” He lets go of Pete’s hand and places both of his hands on Pete’s shoulders, “bye boyfriend, call me once you are done with work,” and he walks away from the stunned and blushing Pete.
From the far side of the garden, he turns around to face Pete, “don’t forget or Hia will find out!” Pete gives him a firm nod with his eyes fixed on the boy’s back. Once he’s sure that he’s on his own, he yells out, “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??”
---
Khun Noo lets him off over an hour ago, and yet he is still in his work suit, staring at his bed, where he had placed the phone that he received earlier from Macau. He jerks up when the screen lights up, though he is thankful that he remembered to put the phone on silent.
🏍💕: are you still working?
🏍💕: why is the crazy guy keeping you up till late night?
🏍💕: dammit tankhun, this is my boyfriend you’re working to death!
Pete stares at the messages and he feels like he’s in some messed up reality tv ala The Truman Show. He replies with a simple, “hello Khun Macau”. Immediately the phone starts vibrating as the same caller id appears on the screen. He picks up the call and put the phone to his ear without saying anything. “Don’t call me Khun Macau,” the voice on the other end commands.
“Okay, what do you want me to call you?” he asks and the answer comes in the form of a long hums. For what seems like forever, the boy speaks, “you decide Phi! I have decided to call you ‘Phi’, so you decide what you want to call me.”
Pete thinks for a moment, “Macau then. I’ll call you Macau.”
“Eh? That’s it? Don’t you have anything cuter for me?” The boy huffs on the other end.
“Cuter? I didn’t think that you would like anything cute.”
A scoff stabs his ear, “oh yeah? What else didn’t you think of me, PHI PETE?” The boy purposely emphasising his name, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything bad. I know you like big bikes, and guns, just like your brother, you know, cool stuff.” He stops talking and waits for any response from Macau. A few seconds pass and Macau is still quiet.
“I’m sorry.. Macau. I’ll learn more about you. For now, please let me call you Macau and maybe I will find other suitable, more.. cuter nickname for you,” Pete makes an attempt to pacify the boy and immediately his own face contorts in confusion, in his head he’s thinking, “wait, what the hell am I doing? I shouldn’t have said that! Fuck Pete, fuck!! Shut up, just shut up!!”
His train of thoughts halts when Macau quietly agrees with him, “okay Phi, I understand.”
“Thank you, Macau. Can I ask you something?” At the boy remaining quiet, Pete continues, “why.. do you want me.. to be your boyfriend?”
Macau chuckles, “because it’s fun to play with you of course, especially because you’re stuck with me now. You should go get some rest. Good night, dream of me!”
Pete’s heart drops as the call ends. Macau is right. He’s stuck. And knowing how crazy the Theerapanyakuls can be, Pete throws the phone on his bed and it magically bounces back to hit him on his cheek. He lets out a yelp before rubbing his hands all over his face in frustration, “I’m fucked!!”
Later that night, as Pete toss and turns trying to catch some sleep, he wonders whether it would be better if he was sent to Vegas to die instead.
