Xiao watched as Lumine ran up and down wangshu Inn brushing leaves out the path most used by guests. He was curious on why she was bothering after all considering that the in was situated on a tall tree so the leaves littering the place was inevitable.
As he continued to watch her he noticed she was doing other tasks to maintain the Inn like repairing repairing stairs that had been broken for quite a while. She even took food to customers, he wondered if she just happend to accept a bunch of commissions for the place.
Xiao decided to go ask her himself after a while his curiosity getting the better of him. He waited until she was going back into the kitchen ambushing her as she reached the bottom.
"What are you doing?" He appeared out of now where clearly scaring the girl as she let out a small scream. She quickly realised it was him while regaining some composure.
Frowning at him as she smacked his arm slightly making him match her expression, "What have I told you about scaring me like that?"
"I asked you a question" He stated pushing for an answer, Lumine was now rather used to his blunt questioning even if she did wish he would be a tad calmer about getting an answer.
"I'm helping out Verr Goldet since she insists on me not letting me pay her for my stay" Lumine told him with some clear annoyance at the boss.
"You could just respect her wishes it's a sign of her gratitude" He argued, she rolled her eyes waving him off as she moved to sit on the stairs.
She was clearly tired from all the work she was doing, it would even be obvious to the most blind of people. It wasn't just she was visibly tired it was laced finely in her voice. He knew how tired she was the first night she arrived here and her work ethic never stopped even when her body was screaming at her not to.
"I suppose" As if his words had finally sunk in she backed down, "Although piling up leaves is fun because of the result"
She had a grin on her face that scared Xiao ever so slightly, it was the type of one that always seemed to cause trouble. She once looked at him like that before jumping of one of the top peaks nearly giving him a heart attack.
"Come on, please" She stood up offering him her hands as she took him down to the side of the in where she had a giant leaf pile. It was as if she had shoved all of the leaves on the tree into one pile and then gone to find more leaves.
She stood there smiling at him as if what he was looking at was actually meant to be impressive. But all it was, was a big pile of mostly soggy leaves.
"Isn't it great" Her excitement was not matching up to the result for Xiao it was just....leaves.
"It's a big pile of leaves" He observed making Lumine groan before she took a running jump at the leaves before disappearing amongst them. She popped up few seconds later with a huge smile on her face with her arms spread out to the sides as if making a grand entrance.
"It's fun come on you try" She run over to him grabbing his hand, "You won't regret it, please"
"No"
"Why not I worked so hard" She acted as if she was rather offended but he knew her to well now to know she is trying to wind him up.
"I'm afraid that's not my problem" He shrugged making her smile slightly.
"It was a long shot anyways" She sighed looking over at the now slightly dishevelled pile, "At least admit it's impressively big"
"The pile is lovely" He agreed rather sarcastically.
"I would never" He crossed his arms, "I'm an adeptus we don't joke about"
"Cloud retainer makes fun of you on the daily" She reminds him.
"She doesn't count" He told her as they started to make their way to the lift.
"Pretty sure she dose" She countered back.
"She is just an anomaly" Their joking back and forth could be heard as they walked back up to the room, making people question if the reserved yaksha was actually what people said he was.
