Betrayal of the Stars

Summary:

Trickstar are presented an opportunity and with their current situation it is best to accept the offer. But this change isn't as simple as they first thought...

Chapter Text

There was silence in the room as the three boys thought about the possibility. A generous offer was given to them by their enemies, something that rarely happens. Was it a trick? Maybe they genuinely thought they were good? There was a lot to consider.

Their silence was interrupted by a phone ringing. "Sorry, it's mine." Makoto said, he checked who was calling before getting up and leaving the room so he could talk in a more private place.

"I don't know what to do. This sounds like a good idea but that guy was really mean to Sari! He's gonna be like that all the time if we'll keep seeing him, right?"

As the two discussed pros and cons Mao walked in and sat down. "Sorry I was out for so long, I walked Anzu back to her room. Hm? Where's Makoto?"

"Yuuki got a phone call. It's been a while, he should be back by now." Hokuto was starting to get concerned now that he realized how long it's been so he got up. Right as he did Makoto walked in, a sad expression on his face.

"Ukki? Are you alright?" Subaru asked, obviously concerned for his friend. It wasn't like him to get sad just like that.

"My mom lost her job." He said quietly as he sat back down. He looked down, hiding his face from the others.

Everyone was silent for a moment before Subaru finally spoke up. "Wait, you don't have a dad so..." Everyone knew what that meant, it was obvious yet no one dared say it out loud.

"Let's accept the offer then." Mao said after a painfully long silence, shocking the other three in the room.

"Isara-kun, but-"

"I'll manage, don't worry about me." He said with a smile. He'd rather be bullied by some guy than have Makoto end up hungry or even homeless.

"Let's talk to Saegusa in the morning then."

The next morning soon came. No one changed their mind during the night so in the morning they went straight to Ibara.

"Good morning, Trickstar! Have you thought about the offer?" Ibara wasn't expecting them to accept so soon, he thought he'd have to slowly convince them over the next few days.

"We have, actually." Hokuto answered. He looked over at the other three quickly and they all have a small nod, this was it, no going back. "We're interested."

Ibara was quite shocked but a smile ended up on his face. "I'll get your contracts ready then, I'll call you when they're ready to sign."

Before they knew it lunch passed by, they practiced like usual all day yet something felt off. Of course it did, they were planning to make a big change today.

"Doesn't it feel like we're traitors?" Makoto asked as they were taking a small break. "Everyone at Yumenosaki is counting on us..."

"I think we're doing what's best considering the circumstances. Don't feel bad about it." Hokuto felt guilty about it, of course he did. But he had to be the reliable leader, he had to support his unit mates during this hard time.

"But you're doing it because of me... If it wasn't for me we wouldn't be doing this."

"We're doing this because we're your friends and wanna help you! You'd do the same if it was the other way around!" Subaru said and pat Makoto's back as a way to cheer him up.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door of the practice room. Before they could answer someone walked in, it was Ibara holding some papers and a pen. "Trickstar! I have your contracts here so let's discuss!" Ibara sat down at the table in the practice room so the other four followed his example and also sat down. "Here are the contracts, look over them carefully. I already talked to your parents about it and they're ok with it so all you have to do is sign."

The boys looked over the contracts, well mostly Hokuto was. His parents told him to be careful about contracts so he was checking them carefully. His father's signature was on the paper but it was better to also do his own check, especially on the contracts of the other members. Nothing looked suspicious but there was one thing that he decided to ask about. "It says here that we'll have to transfer to Reimei Academy."

"Yes, it's part of the deal. Don't worry about it, it will be a quick process. It should be done before the live." Ibara was prepared, huh. He must have been planning this, sneaky bastard. Well they couldn't complain, they were taking his deal after all.

Hokuto looked over at his three friends, they all looked at each other. Were they scared? Did they feel guilty? Did they want to drop out of the deal last minute right before they signed? Well, no one was saying anything so Hokuto spoke. "I think we're ready to sign, if everyone is ok with it." He turned to look at the other three again and they all gave a small nod.

It was finally the day of the live. Eichi was in the student council room doing some work like he usually did. Since Mao was away they were a bit behind but they were managing. As he finished with a document and picked up the next one his phone rang, it was Yuzuru.

"Kaoichou-sama, we have a problem."

"Yuzuru? Well whatever it is I'm sure you can-"

"Trickstar has joined Cosmic Production." There was silence for a moment before a small laugh escaped from Eichi's lips.

"Very funny, Yuzuru. Good luck on the live." Before Yuzuru could say another word Eichi hung up. Trickstar joining Cospro? That's ridiculous. If it happened he would have known by now. He looked down at the document he just picked up.

"Due to his transfer to another school Isara Mao is resigning from the student council."

Eichi's eyes widened from shock as he read the first sentence. He looked at the date on the paper, it was from a few days ago. Were they really this behind on work? Or was it sent late on purpose? Either way realization finally hit him.

"Eichi-sama, this document is weird. Can you look at it?" Tori asked as he got up and walked up to the big desk in the middle of the room.

Eichi quickly snapped out of it and smiled. "Of course, Tori." He took the document from the younger boy and looked over it. It was about Trickstar not being an unit at Yumenosaki Academy anymore due to all the members transferring to a different school. Was Yuzuru right? He has to be, he wouldn't pull a prank like this. But in that moment that was just a few minutes ago the idea of Trickstar joining Cospro felt unreal, like a sick joke.

"Eichi-sama? Are you alright? You look pale." As he heard that Keito shot up from his chair.

"Eichi, do you feel ill? I'll call someone to-"

"No, that's not it. I... Look at this." Eichi handed Keito the two documents. Confused, Keito picked up the two and looked over them. He was just as shocked as Eichi was. By now Tori was starting to get worried, obviously he read one of these documents so he had an idea of what was going on.

"So when Yuzuru called-"

"Keito, call Yuzuru. Find out what's going on." Keito nodded and went to call Yuzuru right away. "Tori, look through all the documents we haven't checked yet, see if you can find anything else related to Trickstar." Tori immediately ran back to his desk and quickly went to all the documents he didn't get to yet, at any mention of Trickstar he'd put it to the side and move on to the next. The pile of documents was getting tall quickly, this wasn't good. Eichi looked through all the documents Tori picked but he couldn't keep up. He'd barely read a few sentences and two more were added to the pile.

Soon Keito was done with the phone call, he didn't even know where to start. "They joined Cosmic Production. And they're transferring to Reimei Academy. Well... They already did according to Yuzuru."

The next day at Yumenosaki was chaos. By now everyone knew, how could they not know? There was sadness, there was anger. Everyone worked so hard for the DDD back all the way in spring and for what? Just for the winners to go betray them like that? Who would go to the SS now? Would fine go by default? Would there be another DDD? No one knew, not even Eichi. He was still processing the whole thing. Trickstar started a revolution here just so they could get up and leave? This was a feature the students at Yumenosaki have never imagined, it was uncertain what would happen next...
