Work Text:

A kid dropped his ice cream. The way all eyes were centered on the entrance to DisneyLand was uncomfortable. A mother ushered her child in the other direction.

Did an accident happen? Was there blood everywhere, a catastrophic injury where someone’s head was blown open, screaming bloody murder?

Nope. It was just the Judgement Day.

“What are they all staring for?” Dominik mumbled to Rhea, suddenly self-conscious.

“Damian’s big head, probably.” She snorted, but she wasn’t really lying. Damian was 6’7, clad in black head-to-toe, wearing big and heavy black boots, with spiked studs on his leather jacket and eyeliner making him look all the more threatening.

“You need to look nicer, man.” he said as he walked ahead to the taller man’s level.

“Nicer?” Damian scoffed.

Finn smirked, “yeah, and less like you wanna kill the four-year-olds here.”

The faction laughed together at that- to any bystanders they must be thinking they told a joke about killing four-year-… oh.

Once Damian’s laughing lessened to leave a smile in its place, he sighed. “You guys wanna check into our rooms first or what?”

Dominik spotted Goofy about a few dozen meters away from them and felt more inclined to go there instead. He didn’t say anything though: even though they were in DisneyLand together, he didn’t want to seem childish in front of his new friends.

Rhea spotted this look on his face and while holding back a laugh, gestured towards the costume. “Nah. Let’s go see Goofy instead. He reminds me of Finn!”

“Why you-” Finn chased Rhea there, the other two shrugging and following at a walking gait. Because they wanted the babies to think they’re cool, you know.

“Hyuck!” Goofy turned around to his next kids to see, “well hey there ki-”

The four members of Judgement Day stood, half of their arms crossed, some kind of threatening aura radiating off them. They were holding back smiles.

“Kids…” the beloved character finished, unsure how to hold himself around them. The caricatured head moved between Damian and Rhea most, who fit in the least.

“Hiya Goofy.” Rhea waved with her fingers, smiling finally. “My buddy Dom wanted to say hi.”

Dominik instantly flushed red as he felt six eyes on him, totally judging. What the fuck did Rhea do that for? “Come on, Rhea…”

“No, go on! Dame, take a pic!” She pushed him forwards towards Goofy.

“You guys suck! Hey Goofy. Let’s take a pic.” he decided to say fuck it and be confident. Rhea was forcing him to anyway, it’s not like he wanted to. After Damian took the picture of Dominik smiling next to Goofy, he handed the phone to Finn and joined on the other side. Dominik wondered how Goofy felt at that moment.

“What do you say we jump him?” Rhea said, to which Damian shoved her shoulder slightly at Goofy’s alarmed response (moving away slowly).

“What the fuck’s wrong with you?” he took Dominik’s wrist and started walking off. “Lets leave the poor guy alone.”

They walked off, Rhea cackling to herself.

Dominik looked at Damian’s hand around his wrist, confused. “Uh, Dame?”

“Hm?”

“I’m not five, you know. I can walk on my own.”

“What? Oh,” he let go of Dominik’s wrist, “sorry.”

“Didn’t know ya had a parental instinct, daddy.” Finn teased, which did nothing to ease Rhea’s laughing.

“Hey, guys! Who want’s to get a brain-freeze?” Dominik grinned and pointed to a little cafe-looking place which had a sign for slushies.

“Fucking bet.”

They sat down, some clinking from belt chains and studs, colourful slushies with adorable tops like bows and mouse ears and straws in hands, and big smiles on their faces.

“Should we see who drinks it the fastest?” Finn glanced around at his family.

“That’s suicide.” Dominik sighed, facepalming not at the idea, but at the knowledge that he’d do it anyway.

“Yup!”

Dominik’s slushie was red, Rhea’s was blue and purple, Damian’s was red and yellow, and Finn’s was fully yellow.

“Everyone in? You stop drinking, you’re out. Three, two, one…”

The four sucked and drank, all eyes watching the other’s drinks go down, trying to beat them all.

“Aagghh!” Finn stopped suddenly, hitting his head a little and banging his other fist on the table.

Damian followed suit, clutching at his head and stomping on the floor with his heavy boots.

People were trying not to stare at how loud and out-standing they were.

Dominik and Rhea locked eyes, it was intense, it was now or never. He had to prove himself to his new family continually or they’d lose faith in him- even if it meant winning a slushie-slurping contest. Rhea looked like she was winning, Dominik’s drink probably double hers, but at once she pushed back and yelled, grabbing at her hair, “Brain-fucking-freeze!”

Dom wanted to laugh, but he had a competition to win. However, Rhea shoved Dominik which made him stop drinking. He was technically out now too. “Hey!”

She shrugged innocently, “what is it, Dom? You know I-”

“Never play fair, I know!” He scowled at her and crossed his arms.

“Aww, my little sour-puss.” she pinched his cheek before he moved away.

“Look who’s talking.” Finn raised an eyebrow at her. “I think we should call the winner Dom, he lasted the longest. Congratulations to our winner!”

He grinned at Rhea, who rolled her eyes but smiled too, “see, the beauty of the game isn’t to drink as fast as you can, but just the right amount that you don’t get a brain freeze.”

“Oh shut up.” Rhea picked up her slushie and stood up, grabbing Dom’s wrist and pulling him away from the two. “I see that duck guy, you like him right?”

Dominik, surprised at the sudden move, grabbed his drink too and followed. “Someone’s mad?”

“I said shut up and follow me.”

“Yes ma’am.” he smirked, then he felt himself blush a little at Rhea’s return of the smirk at his response.

“You think they really went to see Donald Duck?” Damian asked, now drinking the rest of his drink slower.

Finn shrugged. They’d both been left sitting there. “I dunno mate, maybe they just wanted some alone time.” He noticed Damian making a face at his drink and looked confused, “what? It’s good.”

“You always get lemon everything.”

The shorter man shrugged, “lemon’s my favourite. Hey, they’re coming back.”

“Mr. Donald says hello.” Rhea sniggered, holding Dominik’s hand (who was wondering why everyone was doing that).

“What the… Rhea?” Damian looked surprised when he turned around, pushing up his sunglasses, “what the hell have you two been doing?”

“What?” Dom looked confused.

“Your tongue’s purple, buddy.” Finn smirked to himself, looking down at his phone.

He flushed red, “it- it isn’t what it looks like, I swear!”

“We made out.” Rhea covered Dominik’s mouth and grinned.

“Wow. TMI.” Finn shook his head.

“We didn’t!” Dominik pushed her hand off his mouth, looking like he could die of embarrassment. “Rhea let me try her slushie, that’s it!”

“Riiight.” Damian sighed and binned his empty drink.

“It’s true! It was gross too.”

Rhea picked up her things from the table, “yeah whatever, I just got grape because it was purple. Oh yeah, check it out Finn.” She put a headband with Mickey Mouse ears on the man with a grin, hoping to embarrass him. “Now you look less threatening.”

He fixed its position on his head and crossed his arms. “Joke’s on you, Rhea, I love it!”

In the hotel room, Rhea and Damian were sitting on the bed and leaning against the backboard (with tons of pillows of course) and watching TV. Dominik was lying there the opposite direction on his front, also watching.

“Where’s Finn?” he asked after a long silence.

“Getting food.” Damian replied, on his phone. “We’re too lazy to go to a restaurant right now.”

Rhea nodded to agree. She smacked Dom’s ass out of nowhere, making him jump and turn around protecively.

“Rhea stop that!” he shoved her while Damian was actually close to giggling.

“What? It was in the best place for me to smack it, you can’t blame me!” she laughed. “Oh look, Finn’s got food.”

They all sat in a vague circle on the bed, eating their chips and wraps.

“Thanks for inviting me, guys. I’m really glad I’m here with you.” Dominik said between mouthfuls, drinking his coke.

“You kidding?” Finn patted his back, “you’re part of our family now. You’d have to be insulted if we didn’t invite you on a family holiday.”

“Yeah, who else would you go with, your dad?” Rhea added with a snort.

What was worse (or better, depending on how you look at it) was that Dominik didn’t even feel bitter about that comment. He actually agreed at this point. He didn’t feel guilty for not even considering having gone with Rey instead. This was his family now.

The Judgement Day was his family.
