Work Text:
During the term break, for whatever reason, Operation Strix requires him to disguise himself as a butler and break into the desmond house. the family wasn’t home but he had to be careful anyways, and he finds himself hiding in Damian's room at one point. it doesn’t seem like he can get any close to Donovan's room any time soon, so instead, he wanders around Damian's room just in case he doesn’t miss anything. (because who knows, maybe the world war/domination plans were hidden in the least expected places of all: an innocent kid’s bedroom)
At first glance it’s exactly what you’d expect from a 6-year-old rich and spoiled kid: silky smooth dark blue sheets cover the wooden and gold framed bed, expensive toys kept neatly away in boxes, a desk for studying, and a bookshelf filled with books. He looks through each nook and corner of the room, every drawer and shelf, flips through each book until something catches his eye — a notebook with the cover written in the neatest handwriting that could come from a 6-year-old imaginable, which read “ANYA.”, and in a slightly smaller print, “aka ugly stubby legged commoner”.
Loid immediately panics. Did the kid suspect something? Did he know the truth about Anya? That the family was fake? Was Anya in danger? Does Donovan know? He immediately opens the notebook to the first page, titled: how dare she punch me?? , with a date scribbled on the top right corner. He quickly realises that this was a diary entry, clearly referring to *that* incident. He flipped through the pages as the dates on the top right corner of each page grew over time, Anya's name scattered throughout the paragraphs. “Today Anya did....” “Can you believe that Anya....” “So in math today class Anya...” Anya, Anya, Anya. Was this a diary...just on his interactions with Anya?
The Twilight part of him was elated: with this, he could track exactly how well plan b: “ befriend the second son.” was working, and see what kind of advice he could give to Anya. The Loid Forger side of him, however, was furious. why in the world would he have an entire diary dedicated to his daughter? Out of curiosity, he decides to read one of the entries from the middle of the book. (for the mission, he claims in denial of the father figure in him)
Today during class we had a dodgeball match. This time Bill wasn’t there, since it’s a different class, so it went much better, even if the rest my the class still sucks. Anya’s actually really good at dodgeball, and she always doges towards the right direction. Whenever she dodges her hair sways from side to side, and it looks like she’s floating. It’s pretty. FOR HER. I wasn’t staring at her because she looked cute, or because whenever the ball missed her she gives that funny smirk towards the opponents. I was just impressed because you’d think a dumb girl like her would immediately get kicked out. There was a point where i accidentally zoned out, stupid me, and so Anya came in front of me and caught the ball that could have kicked me out. She turned towards me and winked. “Sy-on boy protected me last time. Now Anya protects sy-on boy!” Tsk. It wasn’t like i was trying to protect her the last time, i just wanted to impress her. I mean the class. I wanted to impress the class. She looked pretty when she winked. You know, since she’s usually so ugly. She should do it more. Whatever. I don’t get why she wears the red hachimaki on her head either. Who does she think this is? All it does is make her ears look big, like a tiny baby elephant. As if putting that on is going to give her strength. …Or does it? Is that why she’s so good a dodging? Should i wear it too? Then we can match, and we can be the ultimate dodgeball duo. NOT that i want to partner with her or anything, i just think we could impress Henderson into giving us a teamwork Stella. And then we could become imperial scholars together, with matching capes, and i could sit with her alone in the imperial scholar cafeteria, away from emil and ewen and becky, and
I DO NOT. LIKE. ANYA. FORGER.
ANYA FORGER IS UGLY AND SMALL. SHE’S A COMMONER WITH STUBBY LEGS. SHE PUNCHED ME. AND THEN SHE APOLOGISED, SURE, WITH TEARS, AND IT MADE ME FEEL FLUSTERED AND FUNNY IN MY STOMACH, AND I HATE THAT. I HATE ANYA. I HATEEEE ANYAAAAAA!!!!!!
What…what did Loid just read? He was at loss for words. Of all ways plan b could have gone, with the best case scenario being the 2 becoming best friends, and the worst case scenario being the 2 absolutely hating each other, this. This, was nothing close to what he had expected.
Damian Desmond, the second son of the Desmond family, had fallen for Anya Forger. And in denial, he had convinced himself that he hates the way Anya and the way she makes him feel. Loid felt like he had taken a step forward and backwards at the same time, head reeling with emotions. He was going to need some time to process this…new information. Maybe over a glass of wine. Or two. Yor could join him (in just the drinking part, not the processing part).
Of all things Loid Forger could have found in the Desmond house that day, he would never have predicted it to be the second son’s feelings, for his daughter.
