Work Text:
lane switches, cars and trucks honking like there’s no tomorrow, yelling, it all was so much to keep up with. and oh!! watch out for the random people walking out into the ongoing heavy traffic.
jisungs head constantly whipped around looking at everything that was going on as minho steadily and carefully drove through the busy city.
every time a car would come close to hitting theirs, any biker would blow past them, any person stepping foot onto the street, he was aware of it all, but mostly the way it made him feel.
the adrenaline of swearving, breaking, missing turns, it was all creating a far too familiar feeling in jisungs chest. the feeling that started at the center of him and slowly creeped through his body causing his wrists and head to tingle.
minho seemed to notice his discomfort because of how silent he was, or the way he fidgeted with his fingers. he always knew when jisung was feeling anxious.
he managed to take his right hand off the wheel and place it gently on top of jisungs fidgeting hands to calm him, which worked a bit. but it was cut short once he had to steer again.
there were no time for words or small comforting actions, barely even time to think.
jisung trusted minho, trusted his driving skills ( he is really good ) but he didn’t trust the area. he hated all the people around him, how jumbled they all were, the morbidly tall sky scrapers that only made him hyper aware of how small and delicate he really was.
he was sure he’d love walking around on the high line when they got to it but driving? oh no driving was toooooo chaotic for him.
“keep your eyes peeled for a parking garage” minho spoke lowly.
keep your eyes peeled? jisung thought about it, the only thing he wanted to do was to close his eyes in the very moment but then, he saw the big bold letters hanging off the sign that read ‘PARKING’
“over there!” he pointed fast towards the sign and minho quickly switched lanes despite the cars that were coming at what seemed to be 80 mph on the small road they were on, which only made jisungs heart pound harder.
but soon they were parked and safe. once they gathered their necessary items they left the car parked in the huge underground garage.
they made their way to the elevators, jisung had tried to scope out any stairways because of his fear of elevators but seemed to have failed once they opened the door the the small glass room where minho pushed the up botton for the elevator.
it wasn’t long before the elevator doors opened and they hopped on, once the doors closed behind them jisung wrapped his hands around minhos arm grasping him tight. which of course the elder allowed him to do so, he even stepped closer to jisung in order to make him feel more safe.
once they were brought up to the ground level and the doors opened the loud city noises filled their ears once again. this time jisung kept holding onto minho and didn’t even care, he needed some type of support.
minho never pulled away from jisung, not once. he cared about him a lot and the last thing he would want is for him to be uncomfortable, instead he took jisungs hand and intertwined their fingers with a smile.
jisung now had seemed a lot less anxious. soon they found the entrance to the high lines. the air was a bit cool but it was sunny so it was the perfect weather.
there weren’t too many people walking up there because of how early it was in the day so it made them both feel more free. they held hands tightly, loving the feeling of each others touch. they mostly walked quietly just enjoying the company of one another, this was very usual for them. because of how well they knew each other it’s like they didn’t even have to speak in order to have a conversation.
and finally they were away from all the chaos. now they only could feel the nice breeze, look at the glistening glass buildings, and take in all the beautiful with no stress. it was all worth it.
and maybe they would share a short sweet kiss once they got to little island.
