Work Text:
Lumine was a married women it was something she never thought would happen, especially not when she was travelling the entirety of the galaxy with her brother. Then when she was hunting for him in Teyvat, yet here she was with the love of her life on the night of her wedding.
It was a simple wedding despite how high of a status the pair were but they both decided early on they would rather have no wedding than a grand one that Ningguang had offered to fund. Lumine was grateful for the offer but politely declined. The women still funded it though as much as Lumine had tried talking her out of it she was dead set on it. Ningguang’s excuse was that she never got to repay Lumine’s help when it came to defending Liyue.
In the end it was perfect, it was a small reception at Wangshu inn, it was decorated beautifully with her favourite flowers going up and down the bannisters. She had asked Xiao what flowers he would like but he was as helpful as a chocolate teapot. He had told Lumine ‘whatever makes you happy’ which Lumine just rolled her eyes at. When asking Verr Goldet about it she just laughed stating that Haui’an was the exact same when they got married.
In the end the entire thing turned out perfectly and with the help of all of Ningguang’s staff she got helping the day it went perfectly smooth. In the actual ceremony there was only a handful of her friends like, Aether (who was crying),Qiqi, Ningguang (Obviously), Beidou (Ningguang's plus one) Venti, Zhongli. The pair of archon were mainly glaring at each other. It nearly made her laugh during the actual ceremony. Xiao had his other Adepti with him along with Verr Goldet and her husband.
The after party went on for what felt like forever even if the main people who were partying was Venti and Beidou who had found good drinking partners in each other. Xiao wasn’t one for party’s he tended to stay in the corner with Madame Ping who kept him company when Lumine was eventually dragged off by Aether to dance.
She kept her eyes on him though as Aether twirled her around the dance floor, despite the fact he was around a bigger group of people than he was used to he was smiling slightly. He had his eyes on her as she danced with her brother. Lumine caught his eyes at one point and gave him the biggest smile which made his eyes light up in a way only those close to him could tell.
The party went on till the early hours of the morning but eventually those who were left were to drunk to even do much including her brother who she asked Zhongli who was the most sober of the bunch to help her take him up to his room. It did make her wonder how much her brother actually drank considering he was like her in the respect it took him a fair bit to get to the point he was at. Once she had got him back to his room and made sure Qiqi was alright she went to find her husband.
It was weird thinking she now had a husband even in her head and the fact she was someone’s wife it made her heart flutter. When she first met Xiao it didn’t even cross her mind at the time that the grumpy almond tofu loving Yaksha would one day be her husband, honestly if you had told her that she would have laughed in your face and demanded a duel. But against all odds she was here and she was happy.
She found Xiao on the large balcony looking over across the marsh he seemed lost in thought and she didn’t want to bother him. Instead she opted to lean against the doorway and just admired him from afar. After a while she stepped forwards joining him at his side, not speaking a word she rested her head upon his shoulder lacing his hand in hers.
“Did you enjoy today?” She looked up at him from her spot on his shoulder, looking down at her he gave her a small smile.
“I did, I wish to do one more thing though” He gave her a sly smile one that she knew all to well at this point.
“And what may that be?” She copied the smile right back at him it was the first time tonight that they could let loose with each other slightly.
“I would like the first dance with my wife” He gave her a big smile before pulling away and holding his hand out for her to take.
“Oh why of course my dear husband” She imitated what she imagined someone fancy would talk like making him shake his head. She took her hand in his as he pulled her close, he placed one hand on her waist and the other holding her hand, “I must admit I have no clue how to dance” She felt him smile against her skin as he rested his head on her shoulder.
“I don’t either” He admitted, “But it’s just the two of us” She smiled before giving him a quick kiss and stepping slightly to the right swaying the pair slightly.
There was no music but by some miracle they managed to get in a rhythm together, it started of slow but before long Lumine was giggling as he spun her around. She tried to keep the noise down as people were sleeping but she just couldn’t she was over the moon at today. She just couldn’t keep it all in. Besides when Xiao thought she was getting a bit loud he would pull her in for a kiss to keep her quiet and she quite enjoyed that.
After a while of spinning around and swaying the non existent music she calmed down. The exhaustion of the day kicking in, she rested her head on his shoulder as she felt her eyes sagging. As much as she wanted to keep dancing with Xiao it was time to sleep.
