Work Text:
“So, why exactly are we volunteering to be camp counsellors again?” Chris asked as he pulled on the tight articles of clothing. He was standing towards the back of the S.T.A.R.S. counsellors group, and they were in a similar uniform to him. This brings us to the question of why some members of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service of the Raccoon City Police Department were doing at Camp Crystal Lake.
Irons had volunteered the Alpha team to be counsellors at the Crystal Lake in order to boost the reputation of S.T.A.R.S. as well as boost his ego and reputation also. When the idea was shoved on to Wesker, he was reluctant to agree at first, however after a bit of ‘encouragement’, he was on board with it. Only two members of the team were excluded: Barry Burton, on grounds that he obtained an injury during training, and Brad Vickers, who was only pilot among the entire unit.
Whilst he tried to escape this volunteer work, Captain Albert Wesker had an obligation to go since he had to set an example for the team. Jill Valentine was the most eager, having already conjured up mischievous pranks to play on the others especially with the help of the kids. Joseph Frost was close behind her in terms of mischievous thoughts, but he was genuinely happy to be helping the campers. Chris Redfield wasn’t overly keen on this, but he wanted to enjoy this best of a bad situation…also make Wesker regret ever asking him. Tyler Jones had agreed on the condition that she could explore the grounds freely and bring her little brother, Hunter. Finally, Wesker had “asked” (ordered) the Bravo rookie, [Name], to join this experience.
“Irons thought it would be a good idea for our reputation.” Wesker bluntly stated to the younger male, his sunglasses meeting the brown eyed man. Frost snickered at Chris flinching under the clearly implied glare through the sunglasses. The captain turned back to the others to finish his speech, “You’ll be split into your cabins that you’ll have to look after a group of campers. Whilst we’re here representing Raccoon City, there are also some teenage counsellors who’ll be working alongside us. Be respectful…no matter how annoying they are.” With that Wesker began to read out the counsellor pairs.

Wesker and Frost
The duos split up, making sure that they were prepared for the campers. Whilst they were making sure they had everything, the teenage campers turned up. They were a rowdy bunch, a few seemingly were having sex in the back of the campervan, causing the adults to feel slightly uncomfortable. When they did eventually decide to introduce themselves, a couple of the teenage girls decided to flirt with Wesker, Chris and Joseph. It made the others silently laugh at the boys getting flustered. Soon after, the kids arrived at the camp and were split up in their groups.
Activities began practically straight away and there was certainly a variety to choose from. Whether it be archery or swimming, to painting and cooking in one of the main cabins. There was certainly a lot to choose from. What the team noticed was the fact that the counsellors would sneak off more times than not to god knows where. The idea was there – they were having sex on the job.
When they sat down for lunch, the comments began. It was day one and some of the counsellors were having sex on the job. That seemed to be the talk among the team as they ate lunch. Wesker brought up the lack of professionalism it showed and Tyler chimed in with the story of Jason Voorhees. Frost didn’t believe her so she began the story, “Jason Voorhees was a camper here. Mother worked the kitchens. Jason had a face deformity and ended up getting bullied by the others. Counsellors could have prevented his death if they weren’t having sex. Kid ended up drowning. Mother took revenge years later – killed all but one counsellor. Rumour has it Jason Voorhees is still alive and is pissed that counsellors are here.” She explained in a calm tone, her eyes focused on Frost, who seemed to be shivering from fright.
[Name] perked up. They had done research about the place and heard the rumours too, “The mother got her head decapitated, right?” They questioned and Tyler responded with a simple head nod in confirmation. Wesker sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. That’s why Irons was so adamant that they’d go. If the rumours were true then they’d either end up dead or Irons would twist the story to say that he’d sent us to kill the camp killer.
“Well, the guy’s just a legend. The kid drowned and the dead don’t tend to come back.” Jill exclaimed in a hushed tone as she finished eating her lunch. A few more words were exchanged before they continued on with their day.
A week had passed by and everything seemed calm. No sign of this camp killer so the team became less on edge. The teen counsellors were practically useless and at one point, the team became amused at the sight in front of them – Wesker scolding them for their lack of responsibility after a kid had almost drowned. Luckily, Chris had saved the kid.
Tyler had been disappearing into the forested area during the night time, always holding the excuse of “Insomnia’s a bitch. Also, Hunter likes the darkness” when [name] had questioned her every night. After all, they were sharing a cabin to look after. Other than that, nothing really happened. The team were starting to enjoy their role as camp counsellors, telling stories to the kids by the camp fire and sharing their funny experiences on the S.T.A.R.S. team. Hell, even Wesker was joining in – minus the smile.
One day, things changed though. The day started out as normal – activities and lunch. However, two of the counsellors were missing from role call. Wesker, considering he was the eldest and the one that was shoved in charge, had to manoeuvre the groups around so it seemed like nothing was wrong. This shoved the team on high alert. Missing teens were normal, but not for the extent of hours.
As the day progressed, [name] noticed the teenage counsellors gradually dwindle into only the team. They were disappearing. Was this some sick cruel joke? Probably, but they mentioned it to her commanding officer and he went to investigate. That left the five of them with the campers of 100 kids. This certainly wasn’t going to end well. Activities once again continued with everyone pretending like it was normal.
Wesker returned at dusk, just in time for the end of the camp fire saga. He said down next to [name], informing them that he hadn’t found anyone in the cabins nor any of the activity cabins. That was strange to say the least. Their attention was drawn to Hunter, Tyler’s brother sprinting off into the forest with her sprinting after him. Chris was by a group of older kids, telling them to ‘knock it off’ and that they need to ‘learn respect and tolerance’.
The kids were sent to bed and once certain everyone was asleep, the team converged together to debrief. The only person missing was Tyler. Wesker explained everything he had observed and how his search was useless and there was no evidence of their whereabouts. He then brought up Tyler, to which Chris jumped in explaining what had happened. Some kids had ganged up on Hunter, calling him names and had mentioned something about parents. That seemed to have set the kid off and he took off into the forest.
For a moment, Wesker thought about how he was going to handle this. The kids were safe, the doors locked from the outside. Whilst it was a reckless thing, it was the only thing keeping them safe. Picking up flashlights, and holstering their guns, the team began their search in the forest. Trekking on uneven terrain was horrendous and they hated every minute of it.
A back and forth between Chris and Frost could be heard from behind. Jill had started to make small talk with [Name] since she never got the chance to properly get to know them. Wesker was out front, leading the group. [Name] was deep in conversation that they hadn’t noticed walking into something hanging from the tree branch.
A squeak left their mouth as she took a couple of steps back. Shining their flashlight ahead, a small scream left their mouth, drawing attention to them and the thing hanging from the tree branch. A body, brutally skewered and slashed hung by hunting rope. The individual was nude, allowing the group to see their exposed private areas. Blood trickled down the body dripping on to the leafed ground.
Jill had already brought [name] close to her, turning them away from the seen, “Looks like we found what had happened.” She commented. Soon after, Chris and Frost had called out saying they’d found the other camp counsellors – but no sign of Tyler. This worried the others given that she had gone after her brother. Was she alright? Was her brother alive?
That question was soon answered as they journey continued. They trudged quickly until they were in an opening in the forest. Tyler was stood with her back facing them, her brother wrapped in her arms and held close as she stared up at the mammoth standing ten feet ahead of her. His face was covered up by a worn out hockey mask, with chips nicked off the sides. In his scarred discoloured hands was a blooded axe. They seemed to be analysing one another, but the stories were true.
Jason Voorhees was real.
And he was out for blood.
