“Yes. No. I don’t know.”
“What do you mean ‘I don’t know?”
“I don’t know means I don't know, Ash. I’ve just never thought about getting a tattoo.”
“You’ve been alive for a hundred some odd years and you’ve never thought about getting a tattoo?” Ashley asked in disbelief. Levina shrugged in response.
“Then we should go get one together and Henry should come too.” The young woman said.
The three of them had been hanging out in Henry’s workshop together. More accurately Henry was getting work done while his adoptive siblings were talking to one another about whatever. Ashley sat backwards on a chair while Levina leaned against a silver workbench. Henry looked up from what he was working on his desk when he heard his name.
“What?” he said with confusion and looked from one woman to the other. Ashley turned on the chair to look over at him.
“You should come get a tattoo with us.” Ashley said to him.
“Hey hey. I never said I agreed to this.” Levina added.
“Oh come on. We never do anything together anymore.” Ashley complained and rested her chin on the back of the chair.
“What do you mean? We are doing something together right now. We’re all hiding from mom so she doesn’t ask one of us to come to the conference in Bulgaria with her. There's only so many times you can listen to people talk about abnormal genome sequencing.” Levina said to the two. They all collectively seemed to agree on that.
“Well this hiding in here is getting boring.” Ashley said and sat up. She looked over at Henry. “So, what do you say Henry?”
Henry lifted up the clear safety goggles that he wore and rested them on his head. “It could be fun.” He said. “I’ve always wanted to get an X-Men tattoo. Plus this circuit board doesn’t want to cooperate”
“Want me to take a look?” Levina asked and peaked over at what he was doing.
“No no. You always end up redoing the whole thing.” He said.
“But it always works doesn’t it?” She replied.
Ashley perked up and smiled at him. “Awesome.” She said then turned towards Levina. “Come on Vina. Come get something with us.” She pleaded.
“ It'll be fun.” Henry said. “We could go get dinner afterwards.” He suggested. Levina crossed her arms and looked at the two. A smile crossed Ashely’s face and she got to her feet.
“It’s fine if she doesn’t want to go. She’ll have much more fun at the conference in Bulgaria.” Ashley said to Henry and looked back at her sister.
“Come on Henry lets go.” She added and started walking towards the door.
Levina sighed and stood up. “Fiiiine.” She said. “I’ll drive and maybe, just maybe I’ll get something small.”
Ashely came to a stop “Hooray.” She cheered as Levina joined them. Once they were together they started walking down the hallway together.
“I’ve got two rules in my car. No food in the back seat and driver picks the tunes. I will occasionally take suggestions however.” She said.
“Fine, fine. I think I’m going to get a spider on my leg.” Ashley chirped.
“Hey Vina, I know what you should get.” Henry said.
“What?”
“A Dragon.”
Ashley and Henry burst into laughter. Levina rolled her eyes at them.
“Cheeky monkeys.” She muttered with a smile.
