Work Text:
As if nothing had happened,
we sit the vigils under the starry sky.
As if nothing had happened,
we sleep in the den together.
As if nothing had happened,
we play with the kits unaware.
As if nothing had happened,
we watch the trees, barred from their leaves.
As if nothing had happened,
we share tongues, fewer of us every moon.
As if nothing had happened,
we remember every new star.
As if nothing had happened,
we think of the star,
where there are none.
The star you cannot see, only hear,
where the ferns sing.
