Chapter 1: That is actual Bullshit

Chapter Text

"You know," Alex started as they stared at Morgan. "I've never had a sidekick before,"

"Immediately, no," Morgan replied without missing a beat. Being a sidekick sucked, not to mention the pay was about the same as a minimum-wage paying job; they (the heroes) expected the sidekicks to work long hours in exchange for shitty payments.

No one did it unless they had no choice.

"Immediately, no," Morgan repeated, with a shake of his head.

Though Alex still gave him a look that screamed, I'm sure we can come to an agreement'.

"Are you sure I can't tempt you?"

Morgan shot them a glare. "What part of no don't you get? I said it twice,"

Alex ignored the comment and continued. "There's a wide range of benefits when you work for me,"

"If the benefits aren't a two million annual salary, medical, dental, a retirement plan. And I'll actually live to use it. And three months all-expense paid vacation every year; I'm not remotely interested,"

Alex didn't waste a second; securing Morgan as their sidekick never sounded easier. "Make it five million, and you've got a deal,"

"What," Morgan had used that comment many times when people offered to take him on as their underpaid sidekicks, and every time Morgan threw that comment as an impossible feat. And it didn't deter the S-tier at all.

"Well, if I paid you any, fewer people would start to think I'm poor,"

Morgan stared at a loss for words.

"It'd be wonderful to have you onboard, sidekick,"

Morgan caught himself from shaking the outstretched hand. "Alright, hold up," he sighed. "I haven't agreed,"

Alex looked about, ready to say something, when Morgan repeated. "I haven't agreed,"

"But I will think about it," he decided.

"If you agree right now, I'll throw in a personal assistant who'll bring you coffee 24/7,"

"Oh, that is tempting," Morgan admitted. "But I really don't want to fall in love with somebody who works for me,"

Alex, in confusion, said. "Okay, then I'll bring you coffee whenever you want,"

"Deal," Morgan sputtered out, holding up the box that brought them there. "Here's the box," setting it done, he said. "It's fixed. Now get us out of here,"

Alex scowled. "Seriously?" they sighed. "Whatever," using the box, they snapped, and the two appeared in the ruins of their lair.

"Your coffee,"

Morgan looked up from his task; business had never been as fun as it had been working with Chad. It was also so much nicer, showing up for family get-togethers and making more than his entire family.

"Thanks, Alex," he replied, accepting the coffee and taking a greedy sip.

"So, what's the latest gadget you're working on?"

Morgan grinned. "I'm so glad you asked,"

Will return when I get so much more motivation for this. And I don't have work in fifteen minutes.
